interesting question

Of every musician who tragically died young, who do you most wish you could hear all the future music we missed out on?

Keith Whitley
Jim Croce
Sam Wilson
Kurt Cobain
Bob Marley

I honestly can't keep up with all the rock guys who died early - I'm sure there are many…

One that would have been interesting to see how he evolved though im not sure we missed much on his music - Elvis. Im guessing he would have remained a lounge lizard, unless he'd gotten rid of Colonel Tom

Jim Croce was my first thought
30 at death

edit to add
Karen Carpenter, 32
Harry Chapin, 38
Hank Williams, Senior, 29
Buddy Holly, 22
Tupac, 25
Jimi Hendrix, 27

reminds me of that song from 70s
"If There is a Rock and Roll Heaven, You Know They Got a Hell of a Band "

Oh wow, yeah you nailed some - Hank Williams indeed. Tupac - great call. Jim Morrison as well.

And I didn't realize Croce was only 30. Dude must have lived a hard life, because he looked older than me (52)

Keith Whitley is a good one. Also, Sam Cooke.

Keith Whitley "Don't Close Your Eyes" is a damn near perfect country song.

But if I really want to feel sad, I go for Vern Gosdin - "Chiseled in Stone", George Jones - "The Grand Tour", or Pirates of the Mississippi - "Feed Jake", haha.

I can't listen to "Feed Jake" without things getting dusty. Folks that don't love dogs just don't understand.

As true a post as ever on these boards. The Grand Tour...man, so good.

Several others:
Sturgill -- Old King Coal
Sturgill -- Water in a Well
Stapleton -- Maggie's Song -- very similar to Feed Jake. We got our first big dog -- and first time i heard this song after, it was all i could do to keep my car on the road.
Hank - I'm so Lonesome I could cry
Brad Paisely - Whiskey Lullaby
Alan Jackson - Where were you when the world stopped turning
Merle -- Sing Me Back Home
Merle - Holding Things Together
Vince Gill - Go Rest High on that Mountain
The Carter Family -- Will the Circle be Unbroken

Go Rest High On That Mountain is not nearly as great a song as many folks think it is. Play it, and really listen to the words. It's a sad, despondent and maybe somewhat bitter, song.

Vince Gill said when George Jones' wife asked Vince to sing at George's funeral, he really hoped she would not ask him to sing Go Rest High. She didn't. The song he did sing was one that GJ sang to her at their engagement.

It was written about the death of Keith Whitley and then his own brother....so I'd expect it to be a bit sad and despondent.

Amd he did sing it at Gj's funeral though he kept getting choked up and couldn't get thru it

Summer Reading Book #14 is DAVE GROHLTHE STORYTELLER: Tales of Life and Music by (you guessed it) Dave Grohl from the @foofighters "It's not always the kid that fails the school. Sometimes it's the school that fails the kid." (Shout out to @EricPoms for the book!)

The new Whiskey Myers has really grown on me. Little twist from their previous stuff, but I'm digging it. Saw them earlier this summer at Red Rocks and it was one of the best shows I've seen in a while.

State Athletics needs to figure out how to use 'The Wolf' somehow. Chorus is freaking great.

i like that idea! Figure out a way to integrate the band into that, and time where the team comes out to "let the wolf out". Heck, pay him to help customize it to fit from a timing perspective.

Love me some Tyler, but curious to see what a gospel album from him will sound like.

Dude has a powerful, heartache-filled voice....i think his gospel songs will resonate with people who are hurting. The initial song is really really strong, IMO.

Just stumbled across Tim Goodin, who just released a new EP, which includes the song below. Another musician coming out of Kentucky. Filled with sorrow and pain.
Love the music, but makes me glad not to be born into poverty in Appalachia

If it's not mumble rap, I don't think our video people know other music exists.

Don't know why, but I've been on an Ozzy kick for the last month or so. Flying High Again, Over The Mountain, Shot in the Dark....

Randy Rhoads is unbelievable. Crank it up loud and soak it in. Unreal.

Jim Croce, age thirty, was killed in airplane crash today 1973.
It was the day before official release of his song "I Got a Name," which closed with these lyrics:
"Movin' me down the highway
Rollin' me down the highway
Movin' ahead so life won't pass me by"

Especially in light of Jim Croce's sudden death in Louisiana plane crash at age thirty today 1973, perhaps also listen to his haunting "Time in a Bottle":
