This song is a warning of the kind of things now beginning in 2020.

Take the children and yourself
And hide out in the cellar
By now the fighting will be close at hand
Don't believe the church and state
And everything they tell you
Believe in me, I'm with the high command

Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?

There's a gun and ammunition
Just inside the doorway
Use it only in emergency
Better you should pray to God
The Father and the Spirit
Will guide you and protect from up here

Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?

Swear allegiance to the flag
Whatever flag they offer
Never hint at what you really feel
Teach the children quietly
For some day sons and daughters
Will rise up and fight while we stand still

Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?

Looking forward to 3 upcoming record releases.
Chris Stapleton (finally!!). First song released is very good.
Eric Church
Sturgill - double bluegrass album. If anything approaching what he did with the BG legends at Ryman a couple months ago, this thing will be awesome.

Leonard Cohen's Future is 30 Years Old - Seems he got it right.

https://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/leonardcohen/thefuture.html

"The Future"

Give me back my broken night
My mirrored room, my secret life
It's lonely here
There's no one left to torture
Give me absolute control
Over every living soul
And lie beside me, baby
That's an order!
Give me crack and anal sex
Take the only tree that's left
And stuff it up the hole
In your culture
Give me back the Berlin wall
Give me Stalin and St Paul
I've seen the future, brother:
It is murder

Things are going to slide, slide in all directions
Won't be nothing
Nothing you can measure anymore
The blizzard, the blizzard of the world
Has crossed the threshold
And it has overturned
The order of the soul
When they said REPENT REPENT
I wonder what they meant
When they said REPENT REPENT
I wonder what they meant
When they said REPENT REPENT
I wonder what they meant

You don't know me from the wind
You never will, you never did
I'm the little Jew
Who wrote the Bible
I've seen the nations rise and fall
I've heard their stories, heard them all
But love's the only engine of survival
Your servant here, he has been told
To say it clear, to say it cold:
It's over, it ain't going
Any further
And now the wheels of heaven stop
You feel the devil's riding crop
Get ready for the future:
It is murder

Things are going to slide

There'll be the breaking of the ancient
Western code
Your private life will suddenly explode
There'll be phantoms
There'll be fires on the road
And the white man dancing
You'll see your woman
Hanging upside down
Her features covered by her fallen gown
And all the lousy little poets
Coming round
Tryin' to sound like Charlie Manson
And the white man dancin'

Give me back the Berlin wall
Give me Stalin and St Paul
Give me Christ
Or give me Hiroshima
Destroy another fetus now
We don't like children anyhow
I've seen the future, baby:
It is murder

Things are going to slide

When they said repent repent
I like the athletic type

A hodge podge of some of my favorite CD's that I currently listen to as I drive with work:

Bruce...The Rising
Yes...the early version, from the late 1960's to the mid '70's
Boston
The best of Ronnie James Dio
Bruce...The River
The Who...Quadrophenia
Blackfoot....Blackfoot Strikes
Linda Ronstadt....Live in Hollywood. This was recorded in April 1980 for an HBO special. I saw her at Reynolds Coliseum in March 1980.

Bet you can guess my age from what I listen to.

Tyler Childers dropped a new, unannounced record today that is a group of fiddle-based blue grass and then ends with the title track, "Long Violent History". Great, powerful song, then topped by a video he released that talked about why he did it.

Weird song. To me, it seems like Cohen WANTS this future to happen. The song seems to be written from the perspective of someone "allied with the devil" who wants this hellish future to become a reality -- who hates "Western culture" (see lyrics I bolded above). And did he "predict" this future...or is it rather that he is "in the know" with other elites, and knows of their plan to make this happen?

I listened to the song, and the lyric that says "There'll be fires on the road And the white man dancing" seems to be crafted to blame the "white man" for this dark future. But in the song it is written "I'm the little jew", indicating that this song is sung from the perspective of a jew.

To bring something more enjoyable and entertaining than the majority of the threads at the top of this board......

Sturgill released the first volume of his 2 bluegrass records -- Cuttin' Grass Vol 1. 20 songs from his previous albums converted to a bluegrass format with a group of great BG players.

Really really solid.

Haaa, exactly comment one of my sons made. So I looked, and agreed. I'll have to listen

Her voice is a great offset of Sturgill when she does the backup vocals.

I'm sure y'all have read the same thing I have before, but Sturgill has said before that the majority of his catalog of music was written as bluegrass. Thus this album consists of a lot of his music done the way it was intended originally. Kind of a cool thought to keep in mind when listening.

That was hilarious. I'm guessing that whoever does those realizes that a 30 year old is not a boomer though?

Yeah, it's a joke/meme. Originally, it was created as an insult by younger millennials and those in Generation Z, mocking older millennials. But now, older millennials (and those of Generation X) have taken the insult "30 year old boomer" and even just "boomer" and flipped it and are proud to be called a "boomer" -- because those of the older generations see themselves as tougher, more intelligent, and having superior culture (music, etc).

They're right. Especially with the music.

I know every generation's parents didn't like their kid's music...at first. But music used to be so good that even the parents eventually came around and liked it.

That sure as hell isn't happening these days.

Remember back in probably the early-mid 90's...they started having radio stations that played "best of the 80's and today"?
Well...they STILL play all that stuff.

When's the last time they played a Taylor Swift or Katy Perry song from just 5-7 years ago? Today's music is disposable. Good grief, Billie Eilish is just awful. *** is that "singing" anyway?

Our music and the music before it was classic. Talking pop here...of course rock was better, that's indisputable. Madonna hit the airwaves and never left. Phil Collins. Cyndi Lauper. Whitney Houston. Etc. People with serious talent. Those type of folks aren't getting on the air these days.

Anyone think that in another 10-15 years there's going to be a "best of the 2000's-2010's" channel?

Doubt it.
