Don't quote me on this, but I think a couple of weeks ago, they led the nation in ERA and were top 3 in runs scored or something like that. If that is the case, then it's a pretty potent combination and they do have a great chance to win it all.

I had a chance to talk to Aaron Fitt of D1 Baseball a couple of weeks ago at the ACC Tournament. He said Wake is the most complete team in college baseball this year. I think you are correct on the ERA and they did this while playing in a small ballpark that would not be conducive to a pitcher's ERA. They also have the ability to hit for power or play small ball. Their best hitter, Brock Wilken broke the ACC record for career home runs today (70) and he has an opportunity to extend his record in Omaha.

Not only did they lead the nation in ERA, they led it by a full run per game (or that was what was reported during their Regional broadcast) Leading the entire nation in ERA by a full run per game is an incredible stat.

yea, I think at the time they were reporting this, Wake's team ERA was 2.57, so that pretty much lines up. Crazy.

Just looking at the stadiums in these Super Regionals makes you realize just how far behind the curve State's facilities are. If you ever see Doak host another Super Regional, it will be a miracle!

I think Wake is really good. But there are negatives. Wake's ball park in tiny, Omaha is not. Real grass versus plastic. So it will be harder to hit home runs and harder for ground ball base hits. There will be a premium on middle infield play and the outfield, Tommy Hawke specifically, will have to cover more ground. Their starters have been so good that they haven't gone but 6-7 deep on their pitching staff. So, if a starter has trouble early, the bullpen could be very important. Having said that, their pitchers are really good and that will carry them far in Omaha if they continue to perform . Florida, Virginia and LSU( I expect them to win over Kentucky) are pretty good, too. Wake is good but I don't think it will be a cake walk.

I don't think it will be a cakewalk either. I watched Florida's two wins against SC and they look really good. Same goes for Virginia, even though they dropped one to Duke. I also expect LSU to give other teams fits with their ability to hit and their pitching. They are the one team that can match Wake from both a hitting and pitching standpoint. There will be some serious talent on display in this year's CWS and I am looking forward to watching the games.

I am amazed by what Wake has done the past two weeks. Wake ended the regional and super-regionals with a historic +59 earned run differential. No other team in the history of the NCAA has entered the CWS with a better differential.

Outfielders seemed to lose the ball in the lights to allow a walk off win by Stanford.

Folks on Twitter saying that their park is really poorly lit. I couldn't really tell from the clips I saw, but it was obvious that the players had no idea where the ball was.

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.
