Not a hot take to say these guys have been bad. How many walks between the 2 and neither of them made it out of the 3rd inning? In the CWS title series? Awful. Guy yesterday walked 6. Dude today couldn't throw a strike to save his life. FL served this CWS up to LSU on a silver platter.

I'm sure these guys are good normally. Just not under the bright lights.

LSU has now won an NCAA championship in both women's basketball and baseball in 2023, they won a national championship in football only 4 years ago and have been to the final four in men's basketball back in 2006. Heck, they were in the sweet sixteen as recent as 2019.

I don't like LSU, but gotta give them credit.

ultimately i don't think tonight was good for the sport. it essentially confirms you can buy a championship. i know that happens a lot of places, in a lot of sports, but with their transfer haul last year, and their openness about it this year, the line between good and great times (aka teams willing to spend) is going to continue to grow. credit to LSU, of course, but man the arms race is just going to continue.

Cags has an elite arm but he is on or off-tonight he couldn't find it. He had no fastball command and that was the game. I think the pressure got to UF tonight

Baseball is going to be a tough sport to develop talent-everyone expects to play day 1 and will have the opportunity to move quickly and start somewhere else. Also, kids are going to chase SEC money. Will be interesting if the Big 10 gets involved in paying baseball players

How much money is worth spending to get to Omaha? How much money is worth spending to host a super regional? How much money is worth spending to host a regional? How much money is worth spending to when a conference title.

Only 1 team won a national championship, many teams invested in NIL. Lets see how the arms race goes when only 1 team wins.

Like I said earlier, SEC schools are funding many of the NIL programs. It is the worst kept secret in college athletics and is a great investment. The alumni love it and it triggers them to give more

Clearly LSU got their money's worth, but there have always been inequalities. It's not that long ago we were talking about the unfair advantage some teams like Vanderbilt had because they could offer full ride scholarships to everyone on the team. The one thing about baseball is that due to the nature of the sport, and format of the CWS, it will always allow smaller teams to compete. The last time the number 1 seed won was 1999. The depth of talent is such that if you navigate the portal will, you're going to have a shot. Certain teams are going to have the upper hand on landing big names no doubt, but there's dudes out there right now on a JUCO team or small college team that can get you to Omaha.

Everyone loves a winner. I'm guessing LSU's current athletics fundraising is grounded in past championships. It's hard to sell folks on "give $$ today, we'll be much better next year" particularly in this day and age...
