NC State baseball headed to Louisana for NCAA Regional

The Wolfpack will be the 2-seed in Ruston and face 3-seed Alabama Friday.

NC State baseball’s season will continue this weeked in the NCAA regional round. After falling just short in a 1-0 loss to Duke in the ACC Championship Game, the Wolfpack will look to advance to a Super Regional for the first time since 2013 by winning the Ruston, Louisana Regional, hosted by Louisiana Tech.

After starting the regular season 1-8 and then finishing 24-6 and making it the conference title game, the Pack will be the 2-seed in this regional behind 1-seed Louisiana Tech. The Wolfpack will start things off against 3-seed Alabama Friday at 3 p.m. on ESPN3. 4-seed Rider rounds out the group. 

Alabama went 31-24 overall this year and finished 11th in a loaded SEC. Louisana Tech went 40-18 and fell to Old Dominion in the Conference USA Championship game. Rider finished 23-16 but won the MAAC Tournament. 

The winner of this regional would face the winner of the Fayetteville, Araknas Regional, hosted by No. 1 overall seed Arkansas, in the Super Regional round.

Looks like the #15 seed and Regional Host, Florida Gators are getting ready to exit the tournament after two games. South Alabama up 16-1 in the bottom of the 7th and looks like they are still batting.

South Alabama scored 10 in the bottom of the 6th with two outs and only one man on second. The only error was by the right fielder on a throw and that was on the last batter who got a hit in the inning. Next guy got out.

Gotcha. I'm just looking at the hourly forecast. I'm sure there will be some type of storms or precipitation during the game but on paper it looks better than what the forecast showed last night.

Duke and UVA survive for another day after beating Wright State and Jacksonville respectively. Weather delay in Gainesville with South Alabama still batting in the bottom of the 7th and pummeling the Gators 19-1. USA has hit three home runs in the 7th.

Maryland and Southern Miss are winning by double digits. UMD up 16-0 against Norfolk State and Southern Miss has scored two touchdowns, two pat's, and two field goals against Southeast Missouri State. 20-0 in the bottom of the 7th.

Might be a long night with lots of delays. Got to start Highfill, but it could be, as someone mentioned earlier today, just like Rodon's freshman year at Florida. Maybe they won't start it if the threat is still there, but I doubt it.
