NC State baseball headed to Louisana for NCAA Regional

The Wolfpack will be the 2-seed in Ruston and face 3-seed Alabama Friday.

NC State baseball’s season will continue this weeked in the NCAA regional round. After falling just short in a 1-0 loss to Duke in the ACC Championship Game, the Wolfpack will look to advance to a Super Regional for the first time since 2013 by winning the Ruston, Louisana Regional, hosted by Louisiana Tech.

After starting the regular season 1-8 and then finishing 24-6 and making it the conference title game, the Pack will be the 2-seed in this regional behind 1-seed Louisiana Tech. The Wolfpack will start things off against 3-seed Alabama Friday at 3 p.m. on ESPN3. 4-seed Rider rounds out the group. 

Alabama went 31-24 overall this year and finished 11th in a loaded SEC. Louisana Tech went 40-18 and fell to Old Dominion in the Conference USA Championship game. Rider finished 23-16 but won the MAAC Tournament. 

The winner of this regional would face the winner of the Fayetteville, Araknas Regional, hosted by No. 1 overall seed Arkansas, in the Super Regional round.

Good point but I believe those DH's were 7 innings so that helps a pitching staff as well.

State has played six postseason games and given up 17 runs total. 9 were in a game they weren't trying to win. They haven't had to use anybody outside of the top five in any of the other five games

Just like I said this morning. We don't really care who wins as long as the game goes 16 or 17 innings, it's hot and humid, and the score is 25-24. Come on Bulldogs and Tide we can do this!!

Random question, what's the story with the bats we use? Seems most of our players use very plain looking grey bats? Is it some licensing thing where we have to strip the brand off?

They use what's comfortable. It's not a branding thing that I know of

La Tech hits another 2 run homer. That is 6 total for the game by both teams and still in the top of the 4th. Humidity and the wind must be up because the ball is flying.

There shouldn't be branding issues, Adidas just provides the clothing. Guys use different brands of bats and gloves.

Damn good weekend so far..... on my second Radio Haze, watching that smokeshow Lexi Thompson leading the women's US Open and checking the baseball scores till we play.

Gonna fry up some Louisiana catfish filets for dinner, some with salt & pepper, some with Texas Pete Dust. Mrs. BTG is making coleslaw and hush puppies to accompany the fish.

Lexi is her usual stunning self today, wearing black yoga pants with a leopard print top from the Marlin Perkins Women's Line.

Alabama catcher hits a bomb but it's foul. Was down 0-2 in the count but drew a walk. 10-8, runners on the corners and winning run at the plate.
