NC State baseball headed to Louisana for NCAA Regional

The Wolfpack will be the 2-seed in Ruston and face 3-seed Alabama Friday.

NC State baseball’s season will continue this weeked in the NCAA regional round. After falling just short in a 1-0 loss to Duke in the ACC Championship Game, the Wolfpack will look to advance to a Super Regional for the first time since 2013 by winning the Ruston, Louisana Regional, hosted by Louisiana Tech.

After starting the regular season 1-8 and then finishing 24-6 and making it the conference title game, the Pack will be the 2-seed in this regional behind 1-seed Louisiana Tech. The Wolfpack will start things off against 3-seed Alabama Friday at 3 p.m. on ESPN3. 4-seed Rider rounds out the group. 

Alabama went 31-24 overall this year and finished 11th in a loaded SEC. Louisana Tech went 40-18 and fell to Old Dominion in the Conference USA Championship game. Rider finished 23-16 but won the MAAC Tournament. 

The winner of this regional would face the winner of the Fayetteville, Araknas Regional, hosted by No. 1 overall seed Arkansas, in the Super Regional round.

We're aggressive, and I love it, but with the catcher running and a ball to the third baseman, that's the one time you shouldn't be.

Yep...but man, our pitching staff, as short-handed as it is, is really peaking right now.

And we had clutch hitting all weekend. Those two things, and solid fielding will win a lot of games, even against good teams.

It's not just in baseball. We have had heartbreak in football and basketball on some of the strangest plays you will ever see. I was a freshmen in 1975 and I can probably bring up 10 to 15 things that have gone against us for losses. Now in 1983 it was magical how things worked out for us. But there hasn't been much of that since.

Whoever was pumping up Duke beating Liberty in the first game and thay they will always be ACC Champs will be around any minute now... just wait til we play a game that matters... the ACCT Final was the only one so far that's counted for some...

Extra innings helps no matter who wins. The longer that game goes, the better it is for us.
