Not sure who Brad drives for honestly. I've seen Kaulig and Spire thrown around. This really sucks for RFK cause they were heading in a great direction.

PLUS, we need more Ford's running - not less, and this hurts that potentially as well.

Wonder what caused him to lose his ownership share?

Brad is selling out is my understanding. Reading between the lines sounds like Brad wanted to drive but sponsors would sponsor charter cars. Kroger is aligned with Ryan Preace. My guess is the money didn't work out and the majority owners won out. My guess btw.

From folks I've talked to, they believe he is going to Kaulig, and probably be in a Dodge. Remember, he is the last driver to win a championship in a Dodge as well (2012).

Was that the year that he punted Gordon into the wall, knocking Jeff out from his last "best chance" to win another championship? Next to last race of the season, right before the Final 4?

Might actually be true, who knows? I do know that it's very curious as to how competitive Chastain was initially and now for some reason he isn't... somehow don't think he's forgotten how to drive that quickly, but what do I know?

Trackhouse went to 3 cars too fast. Also, the metric for how qualifying is determined during rain outs will be changing after this season.

Per Chris Rice at Kauig this morning on his Sirius XM show he has had no conversations with Brad about joining dodge. Going to be interesting to see what all comes out of this. Could see JHN take the 3rd car for roush since he brings his own funding, that's just pure speculation though

Dodge is at a point that if they don't summit something here very soon, they will not be in CUP in 2027.

We were talking and like you, figured JHN would be the third car for Roush. His own funding, not a chartered car with full time, big name sponsors

This whole thing with Brad is wild and seems to be somewhat out of left field. The ripple effect of him leaving could end up being big. I really want to see Dodge come back into the series, and I really think Brad would entertain the idea of something like this comes about. One of these days I need to write a long form post about Ford and how some teams ( SHR ) come to mind and what goes on behind the scenes. Brad's audio touches on it some.

Road Atlanta is great for the Mazda series.

My dad raced there in the 70's. He finished 2nd to Lake Speed the last time he raced there, in the WKA karting series. I remember him telling me Lake Speed wasnt even in sight at the finish and won by something like 10 seconds...and that was after Lake spun out early

since NASCAR is all about getting out in front safety-wise I am very curious why we dont have pit walls at Daytona, Dega, Vegas and other tracks with a tri-oval. Just grass. That is something NASCAR needs to look at before something happens.

just kills me watching these drivers not fight with the steering wheel when they drive these cars. It truly looks like anyone can get in one of these things and drive em.

It's aero....

gosh Wallace can get to the 19 and then stalls out when he gets close. Downforce yay.

yea I guess all that downforce makes em easier to drive but it really kills the racing IMO. Like Wallace can get to the 19 and then downforce....then he's back a half sec again

The drivers call it mirror racing.

I dont like it. Downforce is why that Darlington race I went to few wks back was so bad....nothing happened that whole Southern 500....most uneventful Darlington race I ever went to. Hell I dont even remember who won lol

This race wasnt that good either imo....might as well have been a 3 second cushion between the top 3....Larson hitting the wall coming to the checker was the only thing that happened. If they ever decide to make these cars not so dependent on downforce we could actually get super exciting racing at these 1.5 mile tracks

The 11 is slowly running out of time. Can still win it but the 5 is pulling away.

That was a really crazy incident for Hamlin yesterday. Driving with no one around him, with 3 laps to go in the stage and he gets loose, spins and damages the splitter. Really unHamlin-like....said maybe got in the marbles.....who knows. Opting for a pit stop on the caution mid-stage, with Larson staying out, put him in that situation. He felt like he needed to make up some spots so he was pushing a little.

He really needs a win at this point, plus good stage points, to remain within striking distance of Larson.

Agree about the 11. Next week imo is going to be a big weekend for a few drivers.

Nah, not yet guys. I actually feel like Hamlin has been somewhat fortunate to hold on as well in the points as he has... done pretty much nothing the entire Chase and sitting in second only 40 points back. Pretty much everything in the big picture going right for Larson - and just one race that gets flip-flopped in the other direction and you have a virtual dead heat again.

Only halfway in still. Same kind of impact you've seen by some so far - could just as easily get matched by someone else over the rest of the season.

Starting to break into two tiers:

  • Favorites - 1. Larson (Leader), 2. Hamlin (-40), 3. Bell (-55)
  • Still Alive but... - 4. Logano (-71), 5. Blaney (-80), 6. Briscoe (-84)
I mean look how severe the points difference was even yesterday for Larson between winning and coming in second? Now, that really would have been a huge blow (-40 would have been -65)... but it didn't happen, and as a result nobody got hurt too bad in the chase group this week.

Two more races and this thing's going to be down to 3 - maybe 4 - tops...
