NC State men's soccer head coach, Marc Hubbard, announced the program's 2024 schedule on Wednesday afternoon. The fall slate totals 16 games, 10 at home and six on the road, in addition to three exhibition matches to start the season.

Exhibition games include a visit to South Carolina on Aug. 10, a home game hosting Elon on Aug. 13, and a visit to Campbell on Aug. 17.

The official schedule opens on Aug. 22 at Dail Soccer Stadium in Raleigh when the red-and-white welcome High Point, followed by Florida Gulf Coast a few days later on Aug. 25. The Wolfpack will hit the road to James Madison on Aug. 31, followed by a home stretch of four games with California (Sept. 6), Winthrop (Sept. 10), Stetson (Sept. 13), and UNCW (Sept. 17).

The pair of triangle rivals will be faced back-to-back to open the ACC campaign with a visit to North Carolina on Sept. 20, followed by a home contest with Duke on Sept. 27. Conference play continues with an inaugural trip to Stanford on Oct. 4, then a visit to Virginia Tech on Oct. 11 before returning home to host Hofstra (Oct.15) and SMU (Oct. 19).

To close out non-conference action, NC State will travel to William & Mary on Oct. 23. The final home game at Dail Soccer Stadium will be played against Louisville on Oct. 27, followed by a regular season finale in Winston-Salem with Wake Forest on Nov. 1.

Seven of the Pack's opponents finished inside the top-25 of the final Division I men's soccer rankings last season. Conference play gains more strength with the addition of California, SMU, and Stanford to the ACC, making six of the eight conference foes slated this fall to have finished in the top-25 for the 2023 campaign.
The 2024 ACC Tournament will begin on campus sites Nov. 6-10 for the first and second rounds then moves to WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary Nov. 14-17.

The first and second rounds of the 2024 NCAA Tournament will take place Nov. 21-24, the sweet sixteen is set for Nov. 29-Dec. 1, followed by the elite eight Dec. 6-8, and finally trailed by the College Cup, which returns to WakeMed in Cary Dec. 13-16.

Can someone explain why we continue to struggle in both men's and women's soccer? With the amount of talent in the state of NC there should be no reason. It seems like the rosters are always made up of so many foreign players, would this be due to scholarships? (Easier to give them a non-sports ship) I know we have been through several coaches over the last hand full of years, but we play in the top soccer conference in the country, and we are located in one of the top soccer states in the country, so there should be no reason for our teams to struggle this much to be competitive.

Still not sure why we did not go after the UNCG coach (Maybe we did) to replace the coach we got rid of last season. His resume was perfect for the State. Former UNC, VT, and Duke assistant, coaching a SO Con team currently and has them in the top 10 in the country,

The program welcomes 11 newcomers to the 2024 roster, five of which arrived in January and competed for the Pack in the Spring 2024 campaign. The 2024 recruiting class features student-athletes from five different countries, including four players capped with international experience. The 2024 signing class also includes five transfers.

ACC women's soccer is very good

Five Atlantic Coast Conference teams earned spots in the 2023 NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament, headlined by Florida State and Clemson earning No. 1 seeds. The ACC is the only conference with multiple No. 1 seeds in this year's Tournament.

The Seminoles and Tigers are joined by Notre Dame, North Carolina and Pitt.

The men's program just did not have talent to compete regionally, in ACC, and nationally.

I do not know about UNCG coach's interest in NC State job or NC State's interest in him, but I have read that he has better facilities where he is now versus NC State facilities.

I have a neighbor who's son just started playing for high point university and who was an NCFC Academy player (ie they're clued into local soccer scene). He told me there's legit buzz that the new coach has already made a big difference…just based off the spring season in which local schools play each other in unofficial games. If he can recruit we may see a much improved program.

Across those matchups, dating back to 1975, the Pack has outscored the Panthers 56-24.
NC State last faced off against High Point in October of this past season, resulting in a scoreless tie. The Panthers and Wolfpack split control most of the match, but the red-and white were outshot by High Point 8-5.

NC State men's soccer tallied its second win on Sunday afternoon over Florida Gulf Coast with another late goal to seal the victory.

The Pack closed out the opening weekend of regular season soccer with another win to go perfect with their two opening games. Both Thursday night against High Point and Sunday evening against Florida Gulf Coast came down to the final minutes to decide the game.

NC State out shot Florida Gulf Coast in both halves, recording nearly double the shot attempts over the visiting squad. Several shots were nearly netted but the home crew was unable to finalize any. Taig Healy and Hakim Karamoko led the team each with four shots, while followed by Junior Nare with three attempts himself. 12 total members of the Pack recorded shot attempts, eight of those 12 held competitive shots on goal.

A chirpy second half led to numerous yellow cards and even a red card to be awarded to the Eagles, giving NC State plenty of opportunities off of free-kicks. A yellow card inside the box in the final minutes eventually gave the red-and-white the secure opportunity to score. Captain of the game, Will Buete, took the penalty kick to nail the ball in the back of the net, adding to his already existing season goal tally after he scored in the last game.

Logan Erb marked his first game in goal for the red-and-white, making two saves to ensure the Wolfpack's shut out.

Saturday marks the 8th meeting between NC State and James Madison.
The last match between the two was in September of the 2022 season which resulted in a 0-1 loss at home for the Pack. At the half the game was scoreless but the Dukes were able to net a goal in the 72nd minute to take the lead.
Each team recorded 11 shots. NCSU tallied five saves while JMU tallied two.

The ACC currently holds six teams ranked nationally in the top-25 (No. 1 Clemson, No. 3 Pitt, No. 7 Syracuse, No. 13 Stanford, No. 15 Louisville, and No. 17 North Carolina).
Although not being in the most recent release of the top-25, JMU was ranked 18th in the country in the preseason rankings.

NC State men's soccer (2-0-1) collected its first tie of the season with a 2-2 decision at James Madison (0-0-3) late Saturday night.

After several weather delays due to lightning in the area and a play review delay in the final minutes of the game, the Wolfpack finished its first road contest with a 2-2 draw against the Dukes. Originally scheduled for 7 p.m., kick-off was pushed back to 7:52 p.m.

NC State struck first in the 18th minute to take the 1-0 lead when Will Buete, made a tackle for the ball in the final third that was then recovered by Henrique Santos. Santos quickly played the ball off to Buete who fed Hakim Karamoko outside the top of the box, allowing him to strike the ball with his left foot to land in the bottom right side of the net.

Only a few minutes later, Enzo Carvalho would make a key save for the red-and-white to allow the 1-0 lead to remain going into halftime.

Quickly into the second half, Drew Lovelace serviced the ball into the box that would allow Taig Healy to finish off of a failed clear by the Dukes' defense, extending the Wolfpack lead to 2-0.

The 49th and 52nd minutes featured more extremely close opportunities for James Madison that were denied by Carvalho in goal. However, they were able to slip past NC State's back line nearly 10 minutes into the second half, allowing the Dukes to get on the board.

Ball control continued to go back and forth between the two teams, each tallying more shots on target, but another goal was let up in the 77th minute to enable the equalizer.

The final minutes of the game brought controversy as tensions rose in the search for the winning goal. Play was extensively reviewed to determine whether the Pack should be awarded a penalty kick, but eventually nothing came of it and the game was resumed for the final four minutes.
