I hate to be this guy but could Chris Hart maybe get in decent shape if he's going to take over? If you are going to lead athletes you should take your health seriously.

I asked before but other than playing here, what do we like about Sogard that would make him "the" guy over Hart or anyone else?

My issue is that everyone wins at Wright State but not necessarily at their next spot.

look up Rob Cooper, Greg Lovelady, Jeff Mercer. All dudes that won at Wright but couldn't really get it done at their next spots.

Now, to be fair, it's tough to win big at places like Indiana and Penn State but Lovelady went to UCF and couldn't get it done and he's a FL guy.

Sogard would be a cheap hire as he reportedly doesn't make much more than 125K to 150K.

Other than Hart, my favorite hire would be Dan Fitzgerald from kansas. He's a stud.

I like his JUCO experience and his high major experience as an asst at Ark and Texas AM.

He's not expensive at all. Last I looked the other day, google said he currently makes around $350K which is half of what we were paying Elliott, IIRC.

I mentioned Dan Fitzgerald above...ESPN did a great write up of him the other day.

He's won everywhere he's been and he's currently got perennial garbage program Kansas winning the regular season and has gotten better every year he's been there.

When Jay Johnson took the LSU job, he immediately poached Fitzgerald from Dallas Baptist.

He's a big JUCO guy and is into analytics/data

He's just a baseball junkie like Elliott.

Other than his weight, do you know anything else about his health. Avent has a beer belly. I'm 66 and have a beer belly and I haven't had a drink in years. Go the gym 4 days a week.

I've seen several interviews of his over the years and he definitely seems like a guy dudes would love to play for.

I may be in the minority, but I would hope an actual search is conducted and the job not simply handed over to Hart. If he's the best candidate after the search is conducted, awesome. But do your due diligence to see what candidates he's being compared to.

We need someone who knows NC, SC, and Virg schools and recruiting

Also, we now will add another top assistant to help with recruiting and add some stability. I am sure we missed out on kids who wanted a more stable coaching situation.

Yes, they are telling all the kids that Hart will be the guy but I am sure opposing coaches used that against us.

Don't forget FL. Whomever the next coach is better be well versed in that state's talent just like Hart and Chrysler have been.

agreed but I think everyone is down in FL-I think Hart will be a home run recruiter as the Manager

I know of two kids who passed on interest from State because of not being sure where Avent was in the coaching cycle and had action from other D1 schools. You put together pros and cons and that was a big con.
