The illegal immigrant population was around 11 million during Trump's first term, and is now around 14 million. And fun fact, the number started spiking up during Trump's last year in office! The pandemic (which legally allowed closed borders) created a huge labor shortage, and outside of cracking down on employers it's unlikely anything could have prevented the illegal population spike to fill the demand.

So no, Biden didn't "fling the doors open". He did legally have to open the border once the emergency was lifted. Sure, he could have done some things sooner that might have helped a little. Here, let me try to help. I'll type extra slowly.

During the pandemic we declared an emergency which made it legal to close the border to asylum seekers. So Trump did. After the pandemic YOU really wanted the pandemic emergency lifted. So Biden did. But that made it ILLEGAL to close the border to asylum seekers.

And guess what? Since our immigration laws haven't been fixed for decades it's very easy to abuse our asylum rules, which allows large floods of immigrants (which of course employers wanted after the pandemic, wink wink) that are hard to stop.

He may proceed to look anyway, but if you end up in court, your lawyer can defend against an illegal search, whereas, if you don't explicitly affirm your 4th amendment rights to the officer, they're free to assume consent, and you're legally sliding down a rabbit hole. Don't forget that if you consent to them looking through your vehicle, they're free to absolutely tear it apart, and if they then let you go, you're left with a trashed vehicle on the side of the road.

I frankly do not care if there is criminal charges. What I care about is figuring out what went wrong - because an unarmed person getting shot is what I consider something going wrong - that maybe agents can learn from this incident and do things differently next time.

I do not understand why that isn't a reasonable opinion of the situation, other than you guys can't admit that sometimes this administration screws up, therefore you take this impossible stupid hardline stance for people in area who live amongst immigrants do not have constitutional rights, but you do if you don't live in an area where an ICE operation may occur.
