Here are some thoughts (pls read all, not just one point):
1) There is a reason I was critical of politicians who encouraged bystanders to confront ICE agents. I correctly predicted it would lead to dangerous… https://t.co/sxpTXmKUyL
Pretty much sums up my thoughts on yesterday pretty well. Much like the last incident, gonna let this one play out for a bit before making any conclusions.
Also, please get Noem off TV and no more press conferences for her. Not a single thing she did or said helps anything at this point.
The only conclusion to be drawn is this Administration wants this. It's by design. Stephen Miller and Trump want the optics of militarized enforcement on the streets.
And like Corn said yesterday, for what? If you were responsible for crafting a strategy that better maximized the divisiveness-to- or unpopularity-to-effectiveness quotient, how would you realistically do it?
This "masked roaming goon squad harassing, beating, and shooting Americans and immigrants alike" is going to deport around the same number of illegals as past policies that had none of this ICE Reality TV Show vibe.
So yeah these enforcement tactics are wildly unpopular and no more effective than past normal ICE enforcement, but the bigger macro issues are both the trampling of the First and Fourth (and ironically, now Second) Amendment rights of Americans and this Administration's absolute detachment from any attempt at honest assessments or communication.
5 seconds after someone gets shot, Noem, Bovino, Miller, Vance, Trump all immediately jump in front of cameras or on X and dive into full-throated, adamant defenses of the government, before anyone has had any opportunity to make any substantive contact with the facts of the case.
All in all, it would be impossible to craft in a lab a less electorally popular, less effective, less constitutional, or more divisive strategy.
But hey at least Stephen Miller is getting his red meat for the far right base! It’s crazy to think this is how authorities behave right now.

It’s difficult to even remember what previous administrations were like. Someone gets shot by law enforcement, they didn’t start a full on PR campaign like the government was their lawyer.
The first thing this… https://t.co/Mhv5gZ4bO0
Let me give it a try, Civ.
The only conclusion to be drawn is this administration wants this. It's by design. Tim Walz and Jacob Frey want the optics of grassroots protests standing up to the big bad ICE officers.
For what? To distract from the fraud and corruption of billions of taxpayer dollars gone missing. Hey, look over there! Something-something Trump!1
How did I do?
Poorly.
Walz is done. He's already going to pay the ultimate electoral price for MN's (overblown but still real) fraud issue.
You act like grassroots protests or objections to ICE tactics are unique to MN. There are grassroots protests all over the country protesting ICE. ICE enforcement policy is wildly unpopular amongst 70% of the country.
Videos and documents don't lie. ICE has detainment goals. ICE officers are not getting enough training. ICE officers are routinely violating the 1st, 2nd, and 4th. Stephen Miller and Trump want masked goons running around creating fear. Americans are aware ICE isn't focusing on finding criminals, they're profiling people based on skin color and accent. People are getting roughed up and detained all over and killed/murdered by ICE in MN.
Perhaps worst, this Administration is completely unmoored from honest communication about any of this.
None of that was necessitated by anything Biden did, or caused buy anything Walz is doing. Some or all of that is going to cause organic protest because it's highly objectionable to millions of Americans.
It's wild how you won't simply acknowledge the obvious. There are huge issues with this manner of enforcement.
Your expectation that America is going to roll over and take what this Administration and ICE is giving us "because Biden" is wildly off base. America isn't going to do that.
All of that is your opinion but I do admire your commitment to it.
Play out a hypothetical with me.
Good faith, honest question.
Say recent polling holds, and the midterms are fairly brutal for Pubs.
What will the trailing takeaways be for Pubs?
Where would that electoral pressure lead the party?
The party in the WH has always struggled in the midterms. It doesn't mean Jack.
Hey, that's a huge step up from "OMG it's not possible for Dear Leader to lose! They stole the election AGAIN!!!" I'll take it!
Obviously there's no scenario where you MAGA cultists will ever be able to soul search about any of this. The good news is that the series finale of the Mad King is in 2028... he WON'T be on the ballot ever again. And I suspect the rest of these sleaze balls trying to be the new Trump will be pretty hard to watch.
2028? Your next President Vance will wipe the floor with such intellectuals as Newsom, AOC or Harris in a debate. You better hope it's CNN hosting the debate because that will be the only thing giving you a discount on the beat down.
Lol, good luck!
That's pretty good. The only better is the fact they sent Harris and Walz packing and sent you home with an L. Can you believe that?! That must really sting?
