I guess you MAGA guys are all cool with the $400M gifted airplane from Qatar? Swamp must be drained or whatnot.
Read about this during my morning reading, then discovered the WSJ covered this earlier and has a bit of a different angle on it

I would hope we could all agree that no one should be taking money from Qatar, and it seems a lot of institutions have been and are. This is just another example.
100% agree. I think we should be wary of any money coming from the Middle East
It's fascinating to me that this (not just the plane, but Qatar sprinkling money everywhere) isn't a larger concern.
If the impossibly corrupt act of launching a memecoin that allows Trump to be bribed by any foreign government or bad actor that wants to doesn't cause any consequential concern on the right, what makes you think Qatar openly handing him a plane would be a concern?
my concern with Qatar is a lot bigger than a plane and not all about Trump either.
Its been a pattern since Saudi Arabia announced Vision 2030 back in 2016. Countries in the Middle East have been slinging huge sums around over many different sectors, and always looking for something in return. You dont get those sums of money offered without strings.
My concern with it is that their words and actions point in two vastly different directions. Are their intentions nefarious? I honestly dont know, but given the history of that part of the world in my lifetime, I think keeping them at arms length is a much better option than getting into bed with them.
With regards to this deal specifically, I dont think it can be ignored that we are trying to negotiate with Iran. Who is one of Iran's biggest supporters - Qatar. I think its perfectly reasonable to look at this suspiciously, especially if Iran gets a sweetheart deal (which, by the way, should be done with Congressional approval, but thats another conversation for another time).
