if Kamala wins, the corporate income tax increases. This is WORSE for the individual, why? Because it causes the price of goods and services to increase coupled with lowering wages.

my job can't get outsourced because the cost return is different then manufacturing. There isn't someone in China who could do my job to 1/10 of my cost.

My point is it's great to feel nostalgic about manufacturing in the good old days but transportation and technology have evolved. There are other jobs outside of manufacturing that pay the same and have the same benefits that ARE available in the US. We should not have manufacturing just for the sake of it. There needs to be an investment strategy for the company to operate and make a profit.

This is where libertarians completely lose the plot. The free market is a powerful tool, but a stable and secure American society just isn't the top priority of multinational corporations. That's why you're seeing a "conservative" populist revolt that gets to reject everything Republicans did up to this point and still somehow pretend that Republicans are the answer.

Regardless, you're absolutely right that across the board tariffs would be a disaster, no matter how much the resident MAGA part-time macroeconomics experts want to pretend otherwise.

I fully get we've had an evolving technology explosion; however, goods have come to the ports the same old fashion way… by boat! Others than processing PO's and communicating being more easy, the boats have gotten bigger, perhaps more efficient. Outside of that, not much is different.

BTW, this isn't a nostalgia thing at all. I'm sure you ride around town, in areas less fortunate, and see people sitting on their porch, right? You might be one of those people that have said… get out and go to work. I know I have! Where are these people going to get a job? I'm sure your construction company can't hire everyone, right? Well, some of manufacturing jobs could go to these people, right?

Yep. Was just talking to our siding guy about this.

He hires experienced foremen but for his hands and junior guys he consistently hires away from the restaurant industry and trains them. Can't find guys otherwise.

Skilled trades that require certifications or licenses are even tighter.

Construction labor market is crazy, has been for years but it's not improving.

There is nothing to clarify. I heard it with my own ears.

PR has a garbage problem. It's been in the news. You can find articles about it.

Joe calls 80 million people garbage. Walz calls 80 million people "nazis". Harris calls 80 million people "facist". These people are full of hate. They think using these labels will convince a Trump supporter to vote differently.

Frankly. I don't want to vote for Trump. However, the rhetoric from the left makes me want to beat their ass into a pulp. So, I'll use my vote to do that.
