I don't find much common ground with you....but this is an area where I do. I read 1984 a few weeks ago and Orwell coined the term "doublethink" in that book as part of the Party's "newspeak" language. For those that haven't read it since HS, doublethink is where you're asked to believe two mutually contradictory beliefs.
This is doublethink and the NCAA (and others) have put it into practice.

I think there is sufficient evidence to show that the vaccine works and does its job. So, if we trust that evidence and the science (which I do), then why am I supposed to continue doing things like wearing masks? You can't tell me that the vaccine works (with a 90%+ effective rate) and then ask me to believe that I need to take additional counter-measures for the sake of doing so?
I totally agree with the last part of what you say, i don't wear my mask except in the hospital and in the office. But that meme is not an example of doublethink imho. They are not mutually contradictory when it comes to community health. Only in specific individual interactions do the words really resonate. Sure, on the surface it seems so clever.
Yep, that's been one huge problem throughout this pandemic, maybe the biggest problem in terms of trust of institutions and politicization of the pandemic and science, medicine, etc.
There is a huge and understandable disconnect between personal risk evaluations and public health policymaking.
Many folks have consistently judged public health policies and policymakers through the lens of personal risk tolerance. Public health and personal risk frequently have divergent inputs and outputs.
What's good for the goose, or more accurately what the goose feels fine risking, often is less justifiable or prudent for the gander.
