Trea Turner is out of the game after hitting an infield single and scoring on a home run in the first inning. Nationals have not said why he's out.

He apparently slid into 3rd awkwardly and went for medical testing.

Nationals announce Trea Turner tested positive for COVID-19.
Very few Nationals players remain unvaccinated by all accounts. Fully vaccinated players are exempt from routine testing. When other players have been removed due to a positive covid test, the Nationals have stated that the player was fully vaccinated. (Eric Fedde, for example.) They specifically declined to do so with respect to Turner. Either Turner is vaccinated and had sufficient sysmptoms to trigger testing or the positive test was from routine testing of an unvaccinated player. It seems unlikely, to me, that Turner would have had sufficient symptoms for testing and then be put in the starting lineup. Many of the players were surprised when he left the game and assumed that it was due to a trade. (Turner is subject to trade rumors with the deadline coming in a couple of days.) Again, it seems that if he had significant symptoms, the other players would have had that as a reason for him to leave the game.Wlfpackamk said:
If the MLB doesn't ban the Nats from the tonight's game and for the next week at minimum, then, well.
