As far as I know of he is
Looked good in the games I saw him play there. He is very athletic for his size.StateFan2001 said:
I would be surprised if Novy can handle 3B with his size. I guess we will see what happens there. Novy looks more like a 1B.
Not convinced on this one.StateFan2001 said:
Luke has the athleticism and arm strength to play at SS

Yep. Only in a last ditch pinch if we strike out. Otherwise, go get another Butterworth or DeCriscio type.
What are you not convinced about? If you tell me you would like a SS that comes with more pop at the plate or something like that then ok. But, would be interested to hear what concerns you have defensively.basementwolf said:Not convinced on this one.StateFan2001 said:

He has been good at SS - just not a State to this point. Let's be real Butterworth had less pedigree in terms of playing SS than Luke has before he actually came and played SS at State. One was recruited out of HS to play in the ACC and one was recruited to play at WCU. One has played 2B for 2 years at NC State and the othe had played 2B for 2 years at WCU.James Henderson said:
Why not get a guy who has already been good at shortstop. Several positions you should be trying to upgrade IMO.
You try to put the best player at each position. If we can't land an experienced SS and Luke is our best option at SS, then I would imagine Luke would be reassigned to SS. That situation has not happened the past 2 years. If we do move Luke to SS, we would need a high level 2B in the portal, since we already have a nice 2B.StateFan2001 said:He has been good at SS - just not a State to this point. Based purely on my eye test of watching pretty much all of Butters and Nixon's games at NCSU, IMO Nixon is not close to Butters defensively. You can't base it on where they were recruited to go out of HS; I'm sure someone went and saw Butters play at WCU before asking them to come to state.pack2010 said:Ripper said:basementwolf said:Not convinced on this one.StateFan2001 said:

Butterworth? The 2nd baseman at WCU before coming to Raleigh? Why can't Nixon do it if he did it

No thanks on that OF....
There's gotta be some d2 or d3 power hitter who can play mediocre LF.

I'd be very surprised if Hogue and Fraasman were both drafted. Maybe someone takes a chance on Fraasman, but I doubt both go and would lean towards the outfield being identical to this year.

So are you just running this back offensively with exception of left side of defense?

We need a 20+ HR threat.pack2010 said:StateFan2001 said:Alex Gee said:Mandras said:

Getting Hogue back especially would be a nice add. Fraasman, while frustrating at times, was a solid bat. Assuming a 2nd year JUCO leap, he could have a big senior year. Obviously, there are some concerns but there is a lot of power potential in Head, McHugh and Sosa. Throw in Novy and you have 5-6 guys in the lineup that could hit 10+ home runs.
Should be easy to upgrade 3rd offensively. Can we get another good MIF to pair with Nixon? Our track record says yes.
Definitely do, but there's also no reason that person can't be already on the team. If a guy like AMac can double his career high in one season here, or guys like Pennington, Decrisio, etc. can greatly increase their power production, I don't see any reason a guy like Sosa or Hogue or Fraasman couldn't do the same. Now, if there's a guy out there that's already a 20+ HR guy, by all means get them. But if we're looking for a guy in the mold of a proven producer who can increase their power in a season, I just think it's possible for a guy already on the team to do so.Glasswolf said:We need a 20+ HR threat.pack2010 said:StateFan2001 said:Alex Gee said:Mandras said:

yeah so does everyone in the country. Ben Miller is the only dude in the ACC to hit 20 or more HRs and he was like 42 years old.Glasswolf said:We need a 20+ HR threat.pack2010 said:StateFan2001 said:Alex Gee said:Mandras said:
