There is no reason to go into a hatchet job on EA. EA has largely done a very nice job in his career at State. Are there some things where I feel he falls short - yes for sure. But all in all EA has had a very nice career at State. And I agree with the poster above, outside of pitching, this isn't a championship level roster this year.
Very nice is a massive understatement. EA is an NC State legend and what he's done with this program the past 20+ years is nothing short of remarkable given the lack of investment he's received.
These last 2 games were all time clunkers no doubt. And the fact he hasn't won an ACC title, regular season or tourney, is nothing short of just a baseball fluke.
The EA slander from posters who watch 5 games a year is beyond comical. Ranked in the top 25 every year, make the postseason every year, 3 times to Omaha, and straight up robbed of a national title in one of the biggest injustices in sports history.
We should name the field after him whenever he decides to retire.
You are underestimating the quality of the NC State baseball job. It is a primo job. Have you noticed how UNC changes coaches and keeps on rolling. These are both prime jobs.
unc hires great coaches (unfortunately). I worked for Mike Roberts at his camps and grew up playing with his son Brian, Mike is a great coach. I knew Coach Fox when he was at Wesleyan when we played them in the fall and he recruited my friends and teammates, including former teammate Scott Forbes. Great coach at Wesleyan and took advantage of the built in cheat codes at unc. I knew Scott was going to be a damn good coach back when I played Legion ball with him my FR year of HS. Hated that State fan from a family full of State people took the unc job, especially with him being such a good coach.
Look at South Carolina, "primo" job, right? Make bad hires and see what happens. Mississippi State, same thing. Lemonis had the program set up nicely for him from Cohen and Cannizaro and he got worse every year once the Cohen/Cannizaro kids cycled through.
Being a "prime job" is part of it, but you got to make the right hire. The job doesn't recruit, develop, and foster relationships.
Compare the talent coming out of SC and what comes out of NC. Volume nowhere close to the same.
Wait, are you saying that NC State should just be better than the USC because one is in Raleigh and the other is in Columbia?
Yes absolutely. Your recruiting base is your state. NC has probably twice as many D1 prospects each year as does SC.
twice as much is not accurate at all.
Go look
For yourself. If not I will do the math later when I have time.
State has 1 of the Top 15 players in the 2026 class per PG and that player is an outfielder. Good hitter but still not a premium position. That's isn't close to good enough.
huh? you're all over the place.
PG has Gunnar Alm ranked 65th nationally. Not good enough?
PBR has Serrano and Church ranked in the top 10.
Kellen Smith and Jacob Smith are big time instate kids.
The portal has also changed how recruiting works.
Never mind you're gonna see some Florida studs pop up from Hart sooner than later.
We're gonna get a couple JUCO studs each year as well. Devin Mitchell being one from Flo-Dar already signed for next year. He's from Oklahoma and goes to a JUCO in Florence, SC. We hit the home base hard but also recruit very well regionally as well.
You're manufacturing angst for some odd reason.
