So here's what has been confirmed. Two unvaccinated players tested positive Monday and the school knew about it all week. Avent even commented in a press conference that "we have some guys sick." It is true that Corbin ordered all players be tested right before the game upon learning this. NCAA agreed and all players were tested, including those who were vaccinated. Only the 13 vaccinated players (half the team) were allowed to play and the game went on, pending the results. After the game FOUR of the vaccinated players tested positive and the ncaa expelled the team, which in my opinion is completely justified, given that we now had 1/4 of the entire travel roster with a positive test result. These are the set of facts.

JT Jarrett and all the rest of the players should have been told in February, "you get the vaccine or you don't get to play and travel with the team."

But since we have an absentee AD devoid of any leadership or planning skills whatsoever, the baseball team has brought national embarrassment upon the entire university, and something that is guaranteed to ravage division across 300,000 living alumni. Brace yourselves for NC State to get dragged across the mud as sportswriters and pundits on every major TV network all the way through the weekend and into next week ponder how on earth NC State could be so irresponsible and incompetent.
Where was it posted that players tested positive on Monday?

If they're vaccinated, why should it matter?! The risk to themselves and esp vaccinated others is negligible. So many darn questions... We need answers!

This is where I am. I just don't understand the science and non-science of it all. I just know they let me and 20000 of my fellow fans up in that stadium unmasked. Players were around us so now what? Just heartbroken for those kids.

So one poster said the NCAA only had 2 machines to do testing with, which wasn't enough and we had players waiting for results. Did Corbin request testing at the last minute and then the NCAA couldn't get all our players done in time? If that's the case, that's not gamesmanship, that's being classless and pussified. Our AD ought to be raising holy hell. Honestly we probably should've protested and not agreed to play the game until they finished testing. Someone needs to explain what happened.

2 PCR machines is a fact. The speed at which they test I can't say because I am not in medicine.

Fact that coaches could not coach either if they had not been vax'd

Fact the only kids that played today had been vax'd

Fact that two players tested positive on Monday, NCAA has known all week.

Fact that kids were being tested after the game started

Unknown why at game time **** hit the fan. Speculation Vandy requested it. I buy that because of how long NCAA knew. Seems logical Vandy was not "ok" with it. Big accusation but can't say I wouldn't of done the same if the shoe was on the other foot and my team was on the brink of elimination.

Fingers crossed more kids available tomorrow. I have heard but can't say who. Also I don't trust some bs doesn't happen around them tomorrow because some have not been vax'd. The ones I have heard would be incredibly helpful based on today's lineup.

I'm not in medicine either, but I am an NIH-trained and certified real time PCR tech. When you do rtPCR, most machines today can routinely handle a minimum of 96 samples (Called "wells") at a time. One sample equals one player, but remember that each sample will be run in duplicate and preferably triplicate to ensure no false positives, so each player's sample will be tested in three of the 96 wells on the machine. Typically eight of the wells are reserved for negative and positive controls, plus two sensitivity range controls and each of those should be run in at least duplicate as well, hence the need for at least eight wells being reserved for that purpose. That leaves 88 wells to test players in duplicate, and the machine will probably run through 40 cycles to completion which takes 2-3 hours. I have no idea what parameters they're running in Omaha (I.e., duplicate or triplicate?) but in the case of the latter they can check around 29 people (if testing just in duplicate) and have results every three hours. You say they had just two machines in Omaha?

I love that we were booted because 4 vaccinated players tested positive. Kind of blows up the "NC State ****ed up because players didn't get the shot" narrative. This will live on in the NC State **** lore because we have effete leadership that is incapable of publicly getting in front of a story. I'm glad Boo can glad hand the boys club for donations, but he's been **** as the public face of the AD.

I hope every Vandy player - vaccinated and unvaccinated - is tested today. I hope every player and coach from every remaining team - vaccinated and unvaccinated - is tested every day for the rest of the tournament. Every person in the stands - vaccinated and unvaccinated - is tested before being allowed to enter the stadium. This appears to be the new rules of the NCAA, so they need to apply them equally.

The NCAA changed the rules and decided to test fully vaccinated players, but it appears they only did this to one team. You can not have rules for one team and not another. Just wait until the Fall season if those are the rules. Bottom line - the vaccines to not prevent you from shedding viral proteins (those things picked up by a PCR test). You can be vaccinated, be shedding viral proteins, and not be contagious to others. There are numerous studies now that demonstrate this fact.

So the NCAA put themselves in a quandary by requiring testing of vaccinated players. 4 tests from vaccinated players come back positive throwing the quality of the entire testing protocol for the week into question.

Sampling quality
Chain of custody
Technician qualification
Equipment calibration
Cross-contamination potential
Split samples
Blind samples
Etc.

And the NCAA was able to clear up the quality questions in a few hours and declare Vandy the winner.

Very good question that hopefully someone in the media will ask and as a follow-up, they need to ask if all of Vandy's players were tested before the game (both vaccinated and unvaccinated).

This right here. Absolutely 100% the problem I have with it all. Vandy got to sit back and watch. I don't see how the ncaa could agree NOT to test them too. Especially under the circumstances

A big question for the NCAA - what was the CT threshold for the tests they ran? If above 30, it is very likely they picked up people who are shedding and not contagious. This has been one of the problems with the use of the PCR test during this pandemic.

It would take 3 minutes to either personally write or delegate the task for someone to say, "here is what we know, we are addressing the situation, and will share the facts of the situation once we have everything in order, including our options and plans for response as appropriate."

re-post from another thread b/c of relevance:

this decision and process is anti-science

lot of you guys know that i have (and still am) working on the Moderna vaccine studies

it is completely expected and common place that vaccinated people test CVD positive.

the vaccine does not eradicate a virus, it boosts an immune system to target a specific virus preventing further infection.

for this reason on the clinical trials, vaccinated subjects are not blindly tested for CVD. A subject must first express symptoms of CVD before they are brought back into the clinic and tested.

That is distinctly possible, I usually throw out a test when the ct rises above 36, assuming that whatever it is, it isn't "real".

Same could be said for State players . Outside of Jarrett and possibly his roommate everyone else should have been cleared to play .

I can guarantee you if they tested Vandy , MSU & Texas players & support staff you would get positive results

There are literally fans drinking Budweiser out of their shoes in the stands beside the families of players . All the players on every team have been socializing around Omaha for a week .

James, I am curious why your position is so strongly defending the ncaa? Read the room. Supporting the ncaa is unlikely to be good for this site. Please don't take that as a threat. It's just an observation.
I'm not defending anyone. I'm trying to present info on the situation from both sides. Trying to post factual info.

You'er trying to make it like I'm supporting the nCAA. I don't give a **** about the NCAA my man.

For all we know our players could have got COVID from the Vandy players
Yep no clue where they got it from.

But if Vandy was fully vacinnated they were never getting tested apparently per the NCAA rules.

But our vaccinated players get tested? Because the NCAA is making up rules as they go. Two players (Jarrett and Justice) do not equal "community spread". These kids got tested AFTER they played yesterday. That's a sham in the making.

Well the rules changed and vaccinated players are being tested so Vandy should be tested.
