Wright State infielder Hunter Warren announced today his commitment to NC State out of the transfer portal.
He announced his decision on Instagram.
A redshirt sophomore, Warren has been terrific the last two seasons for Wright State. This year he was named first-team All-Horizon after slashing .364/.537/.430 in 51 regular season games for the Raiders, and those numbers jumped to .393/.527/.431 in Horizon League play.
He led the conference in batting and for the year he hit eight home runs with 41 RBIs and 15 stolen bases.
Warren was also a first-team pick in 2025 as well as the Horizon League Freshman of the Year after hitting .328 with a .831 OPS.
He is NC State’s first known commitment out of the transfer portal.

Elliott said he didn't like taking players from other coaches that he was "friends" with (I'm obviously paraphrasing) so makes me wonder if he purposefully stayed away Wright State kids, etc.
I remember him saying he called Cliff Godwin to get the "ok" to take AMac several years ago. Which is wild but maybe Elliott was telling a tall tale to help promote his dislike of the portal.

I had heard there was a lot of hurt feelings over that one from several people close to baseball in Greenville. The way I heard it led me to believe AMac probably reached out to us. Not the other way around.
