Yeah bc all those cool tweets by the last one really elevated us to new levels. My favorite memory is when she yelled "we're back baby!" at the press conference for the super successful hire of Mark Gottfried. Maybe we can get Boo to do something like that instead of raising money and rebuilding some bridges that were burnt.

If it turns out that ncaa/cws didn't have enough testing equipment and that's what killed us today, there should be a massive uproar. Especially if vandy coach knew like this thread implies

This would shock me but i am struggling to understand a reason why anyone who wasn't available today may be available tmr if it wasn't simply waiting on test results? I own a lab. We do covid testing. It takes about 2 hours to run a sample with and hour of prep time. But we have multiple machines and each machine by itself can do more than a whole baseball team at the same time.

If they couldn't get the results in time they should have postponed the game. I hope this is all over the news outlets if any of this is true. Hell, I would think you could take some kind of legal action against the CWS for making it such that the opposite team can request testing right before game time and not having enough equipment to make that happen.

If any of this is true and we lose tomorrow Avent should punch that POS right in the nose after the game.

Oh man. ESPN just explained what happened. One player tested positive.
The 14 players who have not be vaccinated had to get tested and the results were not back before the game so they were not allowed to play. Coach Avent found this all out within an hour of the game start time and didn't know who would be able to play or not about 20 minutes before the game.

No link to this but this was said on the Texas/Miss State game telecast.

Not sure if this is the right place, but has anything been posted about what it takes for the Pack to get guys back tomorrow? Official, not our conjecture?

To me, the two most unbelievable things I've seen so far....
1) I've yet to see any official discourse about what and when, actually ahppened today. HIPAA or not, can't believe that at least general information hasn't been reported

2) as soon as this happened, the whole world assumed there would be another game tomorrow...yet, 7 hrs later, I've yet to see any NCAA-documentation about what actually has to occur for the players to be eligible tomorrow?

I get things change rapidly, but just as our program has to accept some accountability for knowing the risks, but taking it anyway, the NCAA has to have well-established documentation about how these guys do (or don't) get to play tomorrow? Even if the testing may be last minute...the plan has to already be in place, no?

PossumJenkins
How long do you want to ignore this user?
That makes zero sense if true. 5 tests in how long a period? And not attacking you mind you. Contract tracing was put in place when testing availability was an issue. It is not now. If these guys are sitting around taking 5 tests tonight, they'll likely get nothing but the same result. Don't know how that either 1. Leads to anyone else playing tmr or 2. Will get you a worthwhile result

If this is accurate, did the NCAA not have some sort of contingency to allow for testing results to be returned?
And/or, when did your guy test positive?

The one thing we've seen, even during mens basketball tourney is they didn't think any of this through.
From the second I heard the guy on TV say it, I thought, why didn't they just move the game until tomorrow morning and make a double header? That's what they would've done if weather was a factor, right?

Particularly when you have the potential to create a safety issue --- which they did, in fact do by limiting us to no substitutions, guys out of position, and guys having to pitch more pitches today than their entire season.

**And I say all this with knowledge that we put our selves into that position, but still should be a difference between sick, and testing to see if sick because of abundance of caution.

What was the question though? We've heard plenty of coaches say, in fact, is coachspeak, to say, "we played horribly, but managed to win, and we get to play again"

Could that be all that he was saying?

Why the need for contact tracing? What is the point now that Vaccines are available for people who want them. If people decide they don't want the vaccine they are accepting the risk of getting COVID-19.

It is my understanding, admittedly based on second hand information, that everyone that was at the ballpark original today (ie everyone but Jarrett and Justice) had tested negative yesterday. When and why they were required to be tested again today, I defer to experts on NCAA policy, but the results of those tests were not available by the time the NCAA wanted to start the game. Ultimately, focusing on they minutiae of how and why we were at this point does nothing. Arguing about this or that needs to stop. Whomever is wearing an NC State jersey tomorrow deserves our untethered support.

So one poster said the NCAA only had 2 machines to do testing with, which wasn't enough and we had players waiting for results. Did Corbin request testing at the last minute and then the NCAA couldn't get all our players done in time? If that's the case, that's not gamesmanship, that's being classless and pussified. Our AD ought to be raising holy hell. Honestly we probably should've protested and not agreed to play the game until they finished testing. Someone needs to explain what happened.

2 PCR machines is a fact. The speed at which they test I can't say because I am not in medicine.

Fact that coaches could not coach either if they had not been vax'd

Fact the only kids that played today had been vax'd

Fact that two players tested positive on Monday, NCAA has known all week.

Fact that kids were being tested after the game started

Unknown why at game time **** hit the fan. Speculation Vandy requested it. I buy that because of how long NCAA knew. Seems logical Vandy was not "ok" with it. Big accusation but can't say I wouldn't of done the same if the shoe was on the other foot and my team was on the brink of elimination.

Fingers crossed more kids available tomorrow. I have heard but can't say who. Also I don't trust some bs doesn't happen around them tomorrow because some have not been vax'd. The ones I have heard would be incredibly helpful based on today's lineup.

I get what you are saying, but when your HC says, I don't know what even happened....thats more than "minutiae". That's pretty significant. And of course, it doesn't to be him that knows how it all works...he has a job; but for someone to be that surprised and then not able to explain it either means we have a big failure of preparation, the NCAA failed terribly in its role to create an equitable environment, or both.

By tomorrow game time, your last sentence will be 100% true -- in fact, I'd imagine few teams will have ever garnered as much fan backing "per capita" as our baseball team will tomorrow as a result of today's scenario (and then gutty effort)

because it comes down to "fairness". weather can't be controlled, but covid vaccination was a choice (and we all knew the rules).

you'd be asking vandy to win two games in one day because of something we did to ourselves.
