I was listening to a podcast this week and the numbers guy said that if Larson just runs his historical averages at these next four races, nobody will catch him. I found that interesting.

Oh boy. Seven now technically still in it, but I'm going to cut it off at six...

Three races left, now "multiple" cars positioned with a chance to win. You never know with these things, but I now have a feeling that it's going to be somebody other than Larson.


*How do you have such an incredibly poor car at a track like Phoenix? That's a question that I'd like to know the answer to...

Florence Motor Speedway is shutting down after the conclusion of this season. Hate to see that, as it was the track that absorbed the Myrtle Beach races after it's closing a few years back. Local tracks continuing to close is not good for the sport. I guess that also answers the question as to why the CARS Tour wasnt returning there next year when NASCAR is at Darlington.

I did hear some positive news that East Carolina Speedway in Robersonville is trying to open back up, but we will have to see if that actually happens or not. That was a fun track, hope the news is true.

.@USANetwork got a 0.72 rating and 1.294 million viewers for Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series Freeway Insurance 500 @PhoenixRaceway.

There's no direct comp to last year since Phoenix was the 2025 championship, but the 33rd points race last year (Vegas) got a 0.84 + 1.7 million.

Gonna be honest I think the economy is part of it. Everything is so expensive now...short tracks are dying because of it. We have 2 paved short tracks left in SC...Dillon and Anderson. Dillon being pretty close to Florence doesnt help either.

Florence Speedway is actually in Timmonsville, one of the poorest areas in the Pee Dee area...there is nothing in Timmonsville/Lamar and Florence is getting smaller

I wish I coulda went to a race at Florence....twice I tried to but rain cancelled both times.

Kart tracks are KILLING it right now. Budget racing during hard times. There are about 5 kart tracks within 30 min of my house and they get full fields and are actually having to put up grandstands...some of those tracks had zero grandstands or maybe 1 small bleacher.

Yep car count and fan count has been dropping at Florence. The CARS Tour event drew a good size crowd, as do the South Carolina 250 and 400 race weekends. But the rest of the year is down, much like all the tracks.

Any idea what Zacharias will do now? Never met him or been to Florence but he always seemed to have a good reputation as an owner and promoter.

Didn't he get involved with the track in Jacksonville a year or so ago?

Yep, Zacharias has been around a while and was at Myrtle Beach before it shut down. He saw the potential and pulled a lot of that over to Florence, taking on the continuance of the Myrtle Beach/South Carolina 250 and 400 races with it. He did take over Coastal Plains in Jacksonville for a short while as well but it just didnt pan out.

He is a good guy and good promoter. Don't know if the money was mismanaged or what. There are always rumors and never know exactly what the truth is unless you are involved first-hand. I hate to see it all go downhill with Myrtle Beach, Coastal Plains and now Florence.

We are losing too many local tracks. Sad. My hope is one day before I'm gone, is to see a mall-bought demoed and a race track is built.
