Underwhelming. Won't be any better than what they just had...

It's going to be interesting to see what happens. HMS is having some issues getting their hands wrapped around their new car, right now they don't have a Jeff Gordan and a Ray Evernham to right the ship. Folks don't think about this much but look what happened to JJ's career after Jeff retired. ( JJ did get number 7 in 2016 ) I say all of that to say, HMS could use a veteran like a Hamlin or a Joey who could come in tell you what's wrong with the car. All of their drivers admit that they don't work that way, now you bring Connor who is having a hard time this year.

And here it is. Homestead gets the championship races next year.

As a lifelong Hendrick fan I have faith they can figure it out. They have some of the best engineers out there.
I really like the Connor add. He's the biggest prospect we've seen in some time and has already shown improvement this season. Folks forget he's only been oval racing a few years.
Really hoping Hendrick gets it figured out soon though. Drivers like Byron especially are good enough to win multiple championships and unless Chevrolet can catch up it's not going to get easier.

Good stories indeed Glass
My best memories/stories come from Rockingham back in the 90's and early 2000's. We would haul our campers there Monday or Tuesday before the race and stay all week. Campfires, drinking, cooking out.....everyone was friendly and by the end of the week you had made some good friends with those around you. There were plenty of sites to see for sure. We would go with 3 or 4 trailers and all the families hang out together. It was right across the street and we would just walk to the track and watch the races.
We did the same for Daytona and Charlotte but Rockingham was just so much fun.

Seeing everyone post in this topic reminds me of 2 stories I have to share. Hopefully they will bring a chuckle or smile to everyone's day. both happened during the All Star race where Earnhardt race the Silver 3.
After qualifying we wanted to go to the souvenir trailers. This was before they built the pedestrian bridge. Traffic was 4 or 5 lanes bumper to bumper and people were backing up 10 x 10 deep to cross. There was no traffic control that night. One drunk guy comes pushing his way up to the front with his cooler of beer and looks both ways then yells **** it, they can't hit us all and starts crossing. Traffic came to a dead stop. It was like Moses parting the Red Sea. We all cross over to the trailers safely thanks to one drunk.
#2. We got a hotel room right next to a topless bar. After we got there I wanted a to grab a few drinks. Now I had a t-shirt on that I bought from a biker bar in Ocean City, Maryland. They wouldn't let me in because they considered it 'wearing colors". Might cause a fight, I went back to my room and put on a Dale Earnhardt shirt. This bar is full of Earnhardt, Gordon, Elliott, Jarrett, and Petty shirts. No problem

I loved this paint scheme as well as the red, white and blue one which if I had to guess was probably the very next year.
Did not realize that the above paint scheme had not only been kept entirely secret and unveiled at the last minute pre-race - but that it was also the very first one-off paint scheme for the All-Star Race and ignited the tradition that we get to experience on an annual basis now. Especially loved how it looked under the lights.
Keep those stories coming.

I had never been to a night race up until that night but my father had. He kept telling me how incredible the cars looked under the lights. We had tickets in the grandstand just outside of turn 2 so as always it was all day at the track. Between the ARCA race and all the all star open the sun had been right in my face all day. I had a pair of brand new Oakley's on. After the sun set (behind me) and the lights took hold I commented how the racing sucked and I couldn't see ***** I had been drinking tall Red Wolfs all day and never took my shades off. What a diffrence that made.

Night racing is awesome. That's why there should only be a few ( JMO ). Now that night time as returned to Richmond, it's just special.
