Nice. A person I know who works in industry said that this was happening. Look for maybe the ALL Star race to be at Bowmen Gray and Charlotte could host the final race. Vegas is in play as well. SMI may trade the ALL STAR with NASCAR to host the final.

Decent race yesterday, congrats to the 1, had to hold back the 7 for the win. Although the 1 did a burn out on the bricks, BIG no no.

Really? I did not know that... is it just a respect issue - or can it damage them potentially?

Hope ernie stops in during the race this afternoon, if he's feeling good enough.

It's both. I believe that those bricks are the original ones. Saw they were cleaning with brushes.

Ha! They should have made Kvapil and his crew scrub them still wearing their fire suits... that would have made a great picture for a future warning.

I actually like Marty Smith when he covers NASCAR, that was where he got his start originally and he's actually knowledgable - and his approach doesn't feel nearly as forced, or fake, like it does with everything else he does.
ncsupack1
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I agree with this. He comes across differently in NASCAR. In a good way.

Marty Smith is just a likeable guy, he seems genuine in his delivery. He can fit in with the crazy college football kids before a game or deliver a good commentary in a NASCAR race.

He's been fun to watch over the years.

Saw them scrubbing the bricks with brushes afterwards. Jr apologized saying radio com had been disconnected and he didn't hear them say no burnout on the bricks

Agree, a caution changes things. His last 3 races are win, 9th, and win. That he has raced in.

Heim is a talented driver. I've watched him years ago in the late model and he was special then too. 23XI got a good one.

Chevrolet with a tough day at Indianapolis.....first Chevy was 9th in Hocevar and then 13th with Custer.

Not only that, but he was basically dominant in fact. Just another guy that gets added to the Toyota stable full time next year, that makes them even more formidable going forward.

Enjoyed the race. Only complaint I have is that the lack of tire wear kind of hurts the overall racing there... I mean when the only consideration for pitting is when you have to get gas, this is the kind of racing that results.

Competitive cars with brand new tires should be able to pass a car that has 30 laps on theirs.

Great job by the 24 year old though, no doubt about that.

It's definitely a one groove track. Looking at stats this am, Heim has two wins as a part timer and HMS has 2 wins combined this year.

Thanks for rubbing that in there, ncsu... when I was watching the first dominant run of his (after the Larson wreck, and when he coaxed the finger out of Hocevar when he finally pitted), I was telling myself "this is who Hendrick should be going after for Bowman's ride"...

Then the announcer's reminded me that he's full time next year with 23XI - AND HE GETS TO DRIVE A TOYOTA... and then reality set back in.

The names that are being rumored for the Hendrick ride coming available are extremely underwhelming... and even that's an understatement if we are being honest. They should be going after someone like Chastain or similar that has already proven that they can race.

Heim - 2 (in only eight (8) races)
Hendrick Motorsports - 2 (in eighty-eight (88) team starts)

Larson - 1 (in twenty-two (22) starts)

Elliott - 1 (in twenty-two (22) starts)

Byron - 0 (in twenty-two (22) starts) *after being in the Final 4 each of the last three (3) years (one year he won six (6) races)... could have easily won it last year if not for the late chaos - even though the earlier late chaos was what opened up his chance.

Bowman (and others) - 0 (in twenty-two (22) starts) *this is the guy that never met the expectations after sitting on the pole at Daytona either his first or second year in Junior's old #88, and quickly became the afterthought to the other three (3) Hendrick drivers.

How exactly does this work with that number going forward, ncsu? Does this mean that Hendrick is giving it up and bringing back another of their old school numbers?

Trying to think of some of their old one's... 17, 25, 27? What was the number that replaced the 17 when Waltrip took it with him? Then of course, they started the 88 for Junior after the wicked witch held the 8 hostage from going with him.

Or is it just a one-off for one race and the 48 stays where it is long term? The 48 is technically the team that was started for Gordon to officially co-own (although he probably co-owns everything now just not 50% yet)...

I know you will have more info - don't know if that X link went anywhere or not, because I can't open them anymore since I don't have an account there...
ncsupack1
How long do you want to ignore this user?
To my knowledge it's a one off. This is JJJ's last race. Basically HMS, NASCAR and the sponsors agree to do this. I think Harvick drove the 29 on a one off as well.
ncsupack1
