So State did put Camacho at 133. He was losing in the second period when he had to injury default. Seen a lot of those this week.

Really impressed with Utah Valley. Adam Hall (former NC State assistant) is going to have them as a force in the Big 12. They beat Presbyterian 54-0 and Duke 38-6 this morning. Our final score is a little deceiving with the injury default to Camacho but a good scrap.

Capped off by Isaac Trumble's dominant technical fall to close the match, sixth-ranked NC State wrestling claimed six of 10 bouts to defeat Utah Valley 23-16 at home Saturday night.

Starting off at 125 pounds, No. 13 Vince Robinson put NC State on the board first for the third dual-match in a row when defeated Bridger Ricks 5-2. He remains undefeated at 11-0 on the season with five of those wins from duals.

Although known to be the guy at 125, Jakob Camacho stepped back into the lineup weighing in at 133 for the meeting with Utah Valley. The redshirt-senior unfortunately got injured in the second period and had to default to his opponent, giving the visiting Wolverines a 6-3 lead.

In the first ranked matchup of the night, seventh-ranked Kai Orine faced 21st-ranked and 2022 NCAA Qualifer Haiden Drury in the 141 weight class. The two closed out the first two periods scoreless, although, Drury was able to rack up almost two minutes of riding time from being on top all of the second period. 30 seconds into the third he got the escape to lead 1-0 over Orine. With time slipping away, Orine gave up a takedown to drop his match 0-5 and push Utah Valley's lead to 9-3.

While the Pack were trailing 3-9 on their home mat, Koy Buesgens in the lineup at 149 pounds was able to provide a spark of energy to his team with a gritty 12-3 major decision. Buesgens did an excellent job capitalizing on his defense and then reattacking which gave him a 6-1 control through the first three minutes. His athleticism continued to show as he displayed a flashy two point reversal in the second and then a slick shot in the third to boost his win.

Eighth-ranked Ed Scott handed NC State the 11-7 lead when he followed up with a major decision of his own in the 157 weight class. Scott remained controlled the scoreboard his entire bout and only let his opponent come within one point to him before he took off to win 19-11.

At 165 pounds, No. 27 Derek Fields dropped a hard-fought match to Terrell Barraclaugh who is ranked fifth in the country at the weight, putting Utah Valley back in front 12-11.

NC State would go on to win the next two classes at 174 and 184 pounds thanks to a decision by No. 23 Matty Singleton and a bonus point major decision by No. 14 Dylan Fishback.

Chase Horne entered the dual lineup for the first time ever at 197 pounds but was defeated by Utah Valley's Kael Bennie.

At heavyweight, sixth-ranked Isaac Trumble capped off the night in style once again for the Pack when he secured a commanding technical fall to end his bout early over Jack Forbes and clinch the win for his team.

Up Next
Members of the team will travel to Las Vegas for the highly-competitive Cliff Keen Invitational that features the a large group of the best wrestlers from all over the country.

For those of you that know more about it than me, where do the incoming freshman slot in weight wise for next season? Need some help at 133 and 149 for sure as well as 165 and 197. Don't expect any of the incoming highly rated guys to fit in at 197 but do Zepeda or Denny have a chance to slot in at 133 and 149? I thought that Zepeda was smaller than he was but looks like he's being pegged at 144 so doubt he's an actual option at 133. Probably one of them takes 149 i'm guessing.

Robinson could move up from 125 next year. He looks to be the next big one for the Pack. I think we have a top HW, he is at 197 right now and will move back up.

Ryan Jack will be back I think and we have one other middle weight that is currently on a RS.

Looks like we are missing guys at 141, 157 and 184 in vegas this weekend. I know on the latest podcast they said that Kai was staying home for classes and rest. But Missing Ed Scott at 157 and Fishback at 184 is interesting. I wonder if they missed weight?

Noticed that too. Maybe trying to just give the guys extra rest? A big win for Troy Hohman at 133 as he pinned the #10 seed Witchcraft from Oklahoma State.

Results showing him pinning the Cornell HWT in 59 seconds in Round of 16. Think he got a bye as 2 seed in round of 32.

Trumble and Robinson have advanced to round of 8 so far. Everyone else out. Looked like we only sent had 6 guys total as others were saying.

Man I am ready to happily eat some crow on Trumble at HWT. I thought he'd be too small but he's been a machine.

Trumble headed to the finals with a 9-0 win. Think the guy he beat in Semi's pinned him earlier in the year so that had to feel good for him.

NC State wrestling closes its time at the 2024 Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational with a second place finish by Isaac Trumble in the heavyweight bracket.

On his way to the championship match, Trumble took out Cornell's Aiden Compton, Northern Iowa No. 20 Lance Runyon, and Arizona State's No. 5 Cohlton Schultz. All three of his wins leading up to the finals, Trumble took out his competitors with bonus point wins, which included, a fall, a technical fall, and a major decision. However, in the finals match, he was pinned by third-ranked Wyatt Hendrickson of Oklahoma State.

Also competing for the Wolfpack over the weekend was Vince Robinson at 125 lbs, Troy Hohman at 133 lbs, Koy Buesgens at 149 lbs, Derek Fields at 165 lbs, Matty Singleton at 174 lbs, and Andrew Macchiavello at 197 lbs. Each of these wrestlers were eliminated from both the championship and consolation brackets after day one. Robinson was set to compete in the championship bracket quarterfinals for the 125 pound weight class but unfortunately had to medical forfeit the rest of the tournament.

Next Up
The Pack will travel to Ithaca, New York later this month to face No. 11 Cornell on the road.

I hope this isn't an indication of Vince Robinson's knee injury being serious.
