It was mixed results on the tennis court in Ithaca, NY for members of the NC State team at the 15K Pro Futures event.
Braden Shick, Damien Salvestre and Fons Van Sambeek were all victorious, advancing to the quarter-final round.
Luca Staeheli and Robin Catry were both eliminated.
"Proud of the guys today, the guys that won played the right style and executed well throughout the match," Wolfpack assistant coach Cris James said. "The two guys that lost today fought hard but maybe didn't have their best stuff, and they needed it vs some experienced players."
One of the highlights of the day was Shick and Van Sambeek earning their first ATP singles points.
Shick defeated Axel Garcian (868 in ATP singles) 6-0, 6-0. Van Sambeek defeated Jack Anthrop 6-4, 2-6, 6-3, setting up a showdown in the next round between the two Wolfpack teammates.
Salvestre defeated Alex Knaff 7-6, 6-4. Knaff (ranked 700 in ATP singles) won the Tallahassee futures event last week. Salvestre will take on Jacob Brumm (1094 ATP) in the next round.
