Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Sam Sack stepped up to the plate and tied the game with a two-run homer to center field. The Seahawks (20-6) tried to respond in the seventh as they placed runners on first and second, but Aisha Weixlmann ended their threat with a huge strikeout.
In the bottom half of the seventh, Smith went up to bat with one out and hit the first pitch she saw over the center field wall to give NC State (22-12) the 3-2 comeback win. Her walk off was the first of her young career and it was her first home run hit at Dail Stadium.
Weixlmann went the distance in the circle to improve to 10-5 finishing with seven strikeouts and one earned run in her fourth complete game of the season. Smith had an outstanding day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run while Sack followed behind with a 1-for-2 outing with a home run and two RBI.
