NC State softball was unable to slow down a hot-hitting Georgia Tech squad as the Wolfpack dropped a 5-1 decision in the Atlantic Coast Conference series finale on Sunday afternoon inside of Mewborn field.

The Wolfpack (28-18, 5-13 ACC) stuck close with the Yellow Jackets (31-12, 11-10 ACC) early but could not find a consistent offensive rhythm late in the game to avoid falling in the series finale.

Taylor Ensley recorded her fifth double of the season, her first in conference action while Brittany Jackson tied her season high with two walks to continue to pace the team with 20 walks on the year.

Maddie McPherson (9-8) took the loss in the circle after tossing 5.2 innings giving five runs (four earned) on nine hits while striking out five batters. McPherson has struck out five or more batters in eight outings this season.

In the fifth inning, Ensley led off with a double and was able to advance to third on an error throw by the catcher trying to pick her off. Taylor Johnson hit a grounder to shortstop and Ensley's speed allowed her to beat the throw home to score the Pack's sole run.

The Second Team selection is the first all-conference honor for Morris and she becomes the 15th student-athlete in program history to be listed on the Second Team.
