Friday night's game against Stevenson is a white out, as the Pack debut their new white sweaters.

Support the Pack by purchasing authentic jerseys here (can also purchase the reds). Will be included with team 2nd semester order, so arrival will be in January.

If you can't wait that long, you can buy printed blanks at Red and White Shop in store (link to item).

Stevenson is a very good team (one of 4 to beat us in 2019-20 season), so get your tickets and be loud!

Took care of business last night. Credit to Stevenson for playing hard, but almost impossible to compete for 60 minutes with only 10 skaters. Also not advisable to have 3 of your players get ejected for major penalties. They had a few players out with illness and their D3 team (NCAA) is carrying a large roster this year due to COVID. So we definitely didn't see the best representation of their program, but hopefully they improve enough so this win looks good for us at the end of the season.

Next up - huge road trip up north for a pair of games at Delaware next weekend.

The Pack will face Virginia, Georgetown, and George Washington in the Stephen Russell Memorial Tournament (Nov. 12-14 in Charlotte). Definitely three of the better teams in the ACCHL (that aren't already on our schedule), so probably the best case scenario for our tourney lineup. More info on tickets and other events throughout the weekend will be released later.
Schedule update: the Russell Tourney has been moved from Charlotte to Arlington. As a result, our schedule has been slightly modified; we will now face St. Joseph's, George Washington, and Virginia. Hoping someone can give us a bit of a challenge, since we're going to be hard pressed to get any other competitive games from ACCHL opponents this year. I'll share more information on the weekend when it's made available.

The good news is that I've been told the event will be back home in Raleigh next season, which is terrific news for us.

Game day at Delaware. This weekend features what I would consider to be one of our 4 most important opponents this season (along with Penn State, Cincinnati, Liberty). These games will play a significant role in our seeding for ACHA regionals/nationals. We've won 4 straight against the Blue Hens, but they're off to a strong start this season; should be a great pair of games. This is our first trip to Newark since Tyler Alfonzetti's dramatic game-winner with 9 seconds left in 2018, a program-elevating win at the time en route to a perfect regular season and first trip to nationals.

Good opening 20 minutes. Z. Robinson, Oliver, and Szarek with the goals. Took 3 penalties against a team with a really good power play. Cut down on that and we'll be fine.

Feels like the Pack have controlled this one, but Delaware is hanging around. Pack will have 1:32 of power play time to start the 3rd.

Pack created a bit of extra work for themselves tonight, but not unusual for a game after a long travel day. What matters is that the boys got it done on the road against a really good Delaware team. Parker Szarek leads the way with 2 goals, notching his 100th career point. We'll do it again tomorrow at 5:30pm.

Great road trip for the Pack. Power play is unreal right now. Pack will be off next weekend before hosting Kentucky Oct. 22 & 23.

Pack Powers Past Delaware For Weekend Sweep

Behind six power play goals over two games the Icepack swept the University of Delaware Blue Hens 6-4 and 7-1 to improve to 4-1 on the season and remain unbeaten in ACHA M2 play. Along the way, Pack senior Parker Szarek (Raleigh, NC) and Junior Chris Solomon (Clayton, NC) recorded their 100th points. Staying with the theme for the weekend, both goals came on power play goals.

In Friday's 6-4 win, Freshmen Zack Robinson started the Pack off quickly with a wrist shot off a change to put the Pack up 1-0 just two minutes in. The Blue Hens would tie the game quickly off a Darin LeBlanc power play goal. The Pack would respond with two goals to close out the period off Emery Oliver's second of the year and Szarek power play goal. The Hens would tighter the game in the second with a pair of goals while Charles Monteith would bury a breakaway for his first career goal to send the Pack into the break up 4-3. The third would see pair of PPG goals by Solomon and Szarek to stretch the leader to 6-3 before Delaware answered back with one of their own to close out the scoring. Griffin Hunt picked up the win in net turning aside 23 shots.

Game two saw the Pack turn up the pressure on the Blue Hens as they outshot Delaware 45- 20 for the game. Monteith opened up the scoring for the Pack in the first with Alex James adding a second off a highlight feed from Alex Robinson. The second saw the first of three Power Play goals for the Pack by Riley Johnson to take a 3-1 lead into the third. The pack opened the third with a pair of power play goals by Szarek and Solomon to put the game out of reach. Colby Pederson and Matt Miller would round out the scoring in the 7-1 win. Eric Daniel turned aside 19 shots for the win. The Pack return to action on 10/22 and 10/23 versus the University of Kentucky.

ACC M2 Tournament Hosted at The Saint James, 12-14 November

ACC College Hockey has dropped it's first pucks for the 2021-2022 Season, but the specter of COVID-19 remains. Players and coaches continue to be tested and quarantined (if positive), regardless of vaccine status. Fortunately, we have had no student-athletes hospitalized for the pandemic virus to date, and will continue to take necessary precautions to ensure player and staff safety.

COVID concerns also caused our M2 fall tournament rink in Charlotte to unilaterally pull the contracted ice a few weeks ago. However, due to the quick work by ACC staff and members, the ACC will hold the M2 Fall Tournament in Northern Virginia at The St. James Sports Complex on the same dates: 12-14 November. We have 11 members attending and nearly twenty games scheduled - NC State and UNC-Charlotte will join our Virginia and Capitol Division Teams and Guest University of Maryland, in our annual showcase. Schedule will be posted shortly on our website. All games with ACC opponents will be considered league games. The Saint James is a world class dual sheet facility. Please come and join us if you find yourself in the area!

Due to short notice on the change of venue, games will not be broadcast, however Pro Hockey News will have a Journalist on site to cover all our games.

Looking forward to seeing ACC M2 Hockey back on the ice for our Annual Fall Tournament. My sincere appreciation to The Saint James leadership for accommodating the extensive ice requirements, George Washington University, and Georgetown University for their support, and all the folks on our staff for pulling the proverbial rabbit from the hat! Hope to see old friends and new faces at the Sports Complex in just one month!

More details to follow.....

Game day. Big home set against Kentucky. Wildcats were a powerhouse in the 90s and had a number of good seasons in the 2000s, but have largely been in rebuild mode for the last decade or so. They're off to a 7-1 start this season, including a good win over Davenport, but they haven't played much other than that. They seem to be a solid team with a chance to qualify for regionals but we certainly should have the edge in our barn. Should be a fun pair of games.

Good recap with the Coach of the Icepack here of the first 5 games of the season, and preview of the Kentucky game. Kentucky looks to be one of the better games/opponents this year.

For anyone who may be interested in coming to see the Icepack play in person, I HIGHLY recommend it. Even if you are not a hockey fan right now, once you watch the Icepack play in person you will be hooked. The Icepack appear to be poised to win another ACCHL championship again this year, and have one of the best and deepest teams this year they have ever had (as Coach speaks to in the video below).

They just moved into a beautiful brand new venue this year, the Wake Competition Center in Morrisville -- which is also the Carolina Hurricanes new practice facility. The venue has a nice dine-in restaurant inside the facility right next to the rink, and seats a maximum of around 1,300-1,400 fans. There should be at least 700-800 people there tonight.

Game tonight at 7:45pm. Can buy tickets as you walk in to the arena for $10.

Pretty sloppy game from the Pack, but we just have better players, and that was the difference. Colby Pederson led the way with 2 goals, and Eric Daniel made some great saves. Pack put this one away with a very late second period goal, then another immediately after killing a 5 minute penalty early in the 3rd. Riley Johnson sustained a shoulder injury early and did not return. Will get an update on his status tomorrow. Round 2 tomorrow night at 8:05pm.

Game day #2 against Kentucky. Looking for the Pack to clean things up in the defensive and neutral zones tonight. Riley Johnson remains out with a shoulder injury.

Bummer on the injury to Johnson. Any idea how severe it is, or when he could be back?

Pack got the job done tonight, but wow was that a chaotic game (37 total penalties!). Got some stuff to clean up, but at the end of the day we picked up two wins against a team that will likely qualify for regionals. Next up: HUGE home game against Penn State next Friday.

Don't know for sure right now. He'll definitely miss the Penn State game, which really sucks. Hopefully we get him back for the Cincinnati trip in a month. Won't matter much for any of the other games the rest of the semester.

Absolutely massive matchup against Penn State this Friday. Probably one of the most important regular season games in program history. Sam Highfill will be there for ceremonial puck drop. Wear white, be loud.

Is this Penn State's D1 team? If not and this is their D II team, forgive my ignorance on this...but can you go into a little more detail on why this is such a big matchup? I'm not disagreeing with you, I just don't know the history of the Penn State team.
