The 21st-ranked NC State men's tennis team (9-6, 6-2 ACC) fell to No. 35 Georgia Tech (10-6, 4-4 ACC) on Friday in a 6-1 decision. The loss is just the second conference loss of the season for the Wolfpack.
DOUBLES
The Yellow Jackets got a team point on the board early, getting doubles wins on courts two and three to clinch the point. All three matches were tight, and the unfinished matchup between Yannai Barkai and Tadas Babelis and Marcus McDaniel and Andres Martin was in a 6-6 tiebreaker when play stopped.
Zummy Bauer and Brandon McKinney were the first Georgia Tech doubles pair with a win as they defeated Robin Catry and Collin Shick 7-5.
Brandon Freestone and Pablo Schelcher clinched the doubles point with a 7-6(4) victory over No. 30 Alexis Galarneau and Robert Turzak.
SINGLES
Georgia Tech took back-to-back singles matches as No. 25 Martin defeated No. 97 Rafa Izquierdo Luque 6-2, 6-4 and Schelcher got the 7-6(5), 6-2 win over Babelis.
No. 25 McDaniel sealed the win for the Yellow Jackets with his 7-6(4), 6-2 victory over 13th-ranked Galarneau.
Georgia Tech went on to win two of the three remaining courts. McKinney defeated Turzak 2-6, 7-6(5), 1-0 while Keshav Chopra was victorious over Catry 3-6, 6-3, 1-0.
It was Martins Rocens who got NC State on the board with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over Chen Dong.
