I would agree with Scooby. I would have hoped for at least a 4-1 weekend.
Looking at last years RPI, FGCU was #77 and we were the road team, so that loss is understandable.
Memphis was #96, so that was a nice win. LIU (#193) and Georgetown (#240) were must wins.
So it's the Ball State game (last year #117) that is the kind of game that we need to win to push the program back to the level that is has been.
On the other hand, we played five freshman in their first college softball, including one at pitcher, and two transfers, including one at pitcher, and there were a lot of positives from the young players. We are coming off an 18-38 season, so 3 wins is definitely something to build off of. There is a lot of talent, so we just need to come together.
This upcoming weekend will be a much bigger test. 2 games vs #36 Ohio State, and 2 games against #65 Northwestern. If we can find a way to go 2-2 against this group, it's a sign that we are much better than last season.
