Here is the strategic reality most people are missing:
Airpower alone has never produced positive regime change.
I don’t mean rarely.
I mean NEVER.
your tweet - an air only strike has worked in Kosovo, but only after we had a UN security force in place. That's is what is going to need to happen in Iran. Hopefully Rubio has started putting that coalition together.Civilized said:TheStorm said:

As per usual y'all hyperbolize and fixate on the 5% of the story you like and ignore, or are too lazy to try to understand, the rest. And then claim that anyone that brings up any reasonable objection actually supports the criminal/illegal/autocrat.
Small problem, we didn't take out a regime.
We removed a symbol of the regime, and a handful of others. And does that give Iranians everywhere hope of a lasting, consequential change? I'm sure it does, and that's change they deserve.
But if you think a few days of sterile bombing and only a small handful of tragic American soldier deaths will accomplish "regime change" you're ignoring history. That small a price is the very tip of the iceberg.
We will need way more involvement - measured in boots on the ground, resultant unavoidable soldier deaths, and exponential more spending - to approach true, lasting regime change.
What price are we actually willing to pay here? This morning I was asked on Boston radio about the US–Israel strikes on Iran.

hokiewolf said:im sorry, you think Iranians seeking asylum stopped in 1979? Same with Chinese? Sure. I had a young lady I hired, graduated from SMU, got a masters at Duke, Chinese. Couldn't get a green card in the lottery system, had to self deport back to China. Yeah, we need less of those folks.TheStorm said:
Dude. We aren't trying to remove Iranians that came here in 1979... just like we aren't trying to remove Chinese that came here in the early 1950's.
Can you please just dispense with the ridiculous hyperbole for once? Either that or you don't know anything about your world history.

Joe Biden didn't circumvent Congress to attack Iran talking about regime change but lacking any cogent communication regarding what we were doing or how that regime change was expected to come to pass.
Joe Biden also didn't appear to be taking orders from Bibi and the Sauds while fellating Putin and leaving Ukraine to waft in the wind.
To answer your question, you're basically saying "give it time, and trust this administration."
This Administration lacks the temperament, character, intellect, seriousness, or honesty to have earned Americans' trust.

I should. I'll share my plan with y'all here as well. Eliminate the southwest and gulf area from Iranian control and create a new nation for the Arab minority that lives there, leaving Iran as a landlocked rump state….then arm a bunch of Iranian expats and send them up the road to Teheran to defeat the Islamic Guard and create a new government, so that we have a limited boots on the ground presence, confined to the new Arab gulf state until they get their government up and running.
