Hokie, this country is spending tons of money building chip manufacturing plants. The only reason that's happening is the recognition of the security threat we have, especially with China threatening Taiwan. So, how did we get to Taiwan being the major player in Chip manufacturing? As will everything else, globalist decided it was the right thing to do…

no, Texas Instruments decided calculators were the wave of the future and let Morris Chang go, then he created TSMC and their foundry process.

He bet on himself because he had zero stake in the company originally, it was 50% owned by the Taiwanese govt and the other 50% by other Taiwanese businesses. He then took his meager $150k salary, bought shares in the company and turned into a billionaire.

So no, globalist had zero to do with it. Morris Chang had 100% to do with it because he invented a new way of doing things.

We used to admire stuff like that, but now for some reason it's not anymore.

The CHIPS act invested heavily in Intel, Trump is now going to double down on that idiocy.

TSMC will never bring the newest technology to the US. Everyone thinks it's great they're brining 5nm production potentially to Arizona, but they've already gone to 3nm production in Taiwan.

Tariffs aren't going to fix that either.
I guess you forgot to talk about intel…

So 10 years ago they found that many numbers being used? Interesting. Wonder how much that has multiplied since Dems have used illegal imigration to grow their base and what else they are using those numbers for now.

Thankful for DOGE as we will soon find out. hokie will kick and scream and "magic beans" until the end.

And… the reason China talks about unification. China has roughly 15% of chip manufacturing. They probably want more…. So… let's unify!!

lol. China isn't allowed to buy the machines that produce the chips. Those are made in Europe and are highly technical and costs multi millions dollars.

Intel can even make a 10mn chip. They are so far behind that they are NEVER going to catch up. Bringing chip manufacturing home is a fancy slogan, but that involves so much more than you think it does and will probably takes 30-40 years to catch up to Tiawan, and that's only if we spend a couple trillion.

How about instead of threatening our partners with tariffs and saying they stole manufacturing from the US that didn't ever exist, maybe this administration can figure out a way to help strengthen Tiawan and our relationships with them and TSMC?

That's why TDS boys like you should be ignored. You're not serious people. You're cheerleading a 10 year old report and speaking like you have facts on what is happening today.

I'm sure you welcome illegal immigration though. That's another one of your stupid trolling positions over the last 4 years that has been absolutely bodied in the first month of this administration. Curbing illegal immigration.

I'm not celebrating anything, it's bad there's fraud but it's worse for a govt official to severely overstate that fraud. I understand why you don't see that as an issue, like I said truth, norms, institutions are all being thrown out with the bath water.

You definitely qualify as "the most casual observer".

Can you seriously keep a straight face while you're pretending "the pattern" is that Putin is scared of Trump? The way Trump grovels in his presence and showers him with gifts must be terrifying.

Did you skip the part of systems engineering where you learned about correlation vs. causation?

My seventh grader could've ended the war by conducting a unilateral negotiation without Ukraine; giving Putin the territory Russia had taken; and installing a puppet Putin mouthpiece president in Ukraine.

What an embarrassment of a "negotiation."
