There was always a 100% probability he was going to pardon Hunter. Any Dad would, given the chance, especially with a vengeance-driven administration set to take power.

So don't say you won't several months ago. Just demurr when asked.
Several months ago Trump hadn't won the election and then appointed a bunch of goons to law enforcement positions who would certainly have continued hounding Hunter to keep the the MAGA crowd frothing.

And of course if he had demurred when asked it would have turned into a weeklong headline distracting the campaign, given how desperate the media always is to find Dem scandals to balance out Trump's lunacy. There's no way to win this lopsided game.

Yeah he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

This is one though where I'd rather take the lump up front.

"Never again do I want to hear" is such sham logic when applied to Trump's constant lying, compared to other Presidents.

This Hunter pardon is one lie Biden told. It was definitely, absolutely a lie. It still doesn't compare to the thousands of lies told over the last decade by Trump.

If you ask anyone from either side of the aisle to rank-order the number of lies told by various Presidents and they answered honestly, Trump would reign supreme and it's not even close.

The mentally ill guy that said Biden was mentally fit to run the country , and is still mentally fit enough to complete his term thinks he has any credibility about who tells more lies.

ZERO self awareness.

I'm just struggling to understand why Dems are still expected to uphold the norms of our government at all costs when nobody gives a fu** about norms except for Dems.

Joe Rogan had Marc Andreesen on last week. Just finished it this morning. He has voted Democrat most of his life. Amongst a lot of other things, he explains the corruption in the Biden administration and what led to him voting for Trump. Good listen for the mentally sound.

For me this boils down to do you want retribution or do you want governance? Trump was elected to govern, but his base wants retribution. That's going to be an issue for the next 4 years and beyond. There are too many things that are going to need real solutions in the next four years. I could care less about getting revenge for God know what. I'm still confused about what that is supposed to look like other than Stalinesque show trials.
I don't want any retribution... time to move forward again as far as I am concerned in that regard. What I do want however, is corrections in place to make sure that our Law Enforcement Agencies, Intelligence Agencies and Department of Justice are not permitted to be weaponized to assist in the goals of one political party over another.
I agree I just don't see that happening under this administration. The word "mandate" has been thrown around too much. There is not such thing as a mandate in this election.
If we have corruption in our Federal Government, that includes media, prosecute the hell out of them!!! You can call it retribution if you want. I call it cleaning out the system!

SCREW'EM ALL!!!

I have no idea how what you wrote relates to what I said, Cary.

I also have no idea why you're telling me to go screw myself when what I said was completely mundane and fairly obvious, and when I don't ever attack people personally on this board.

Too funny, CNN made this guy watch his own past statement that Biden would never pardon Hunter Biden. His facial expression says it all. Anyone else think he looks like Edward Rooney from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"?

You better stock up on dry diapers, because with any luck Biden is going to issue blanket pardons for Dr Fauci, Liz Cheney, Adam Schiff, and everyone else on Kash Patel's hit list.

Remember the whole debate we just had on presidential immunity?! We were told how dangerous any immunity would be! Even SCOTUS limited immunity to core official acts. So now Biden team doing blanket immunityofficial and unofficial actsfor themselves? Sets a dangerous precedent…

I'm beginning to think it's a step in the right direction. Clearly Dems don't get any credit whatsoever for being the only ones who care about norms and precedent. They just seem to be enabling a downward slide by the other party while they try to hold things together.

Maybe the only way out of this mess is to beat them at their own game until they sue for peace. Let's make caring about norms the Republicans' job for a while.

Anyway, the fundamental problem is that this is a bunch of gaslighting bullsh**. There is no equivalence, no hypocrisy, no "dangerous precedent".

Trump literally spent his entire campaign insisting that he would use the Justice Department to get revenge on those who crossed him... which of course IS the dangerous precedent, blowing 90 miles past any sane norm in our country's history. After winning the election he then nominates a guy to head the DoJ who has laid out the MAGA hit list he intends to "go after", including haranguing Hunter Biden as much as possible.

Unless you're a mouth breather who actually believes that Dr. Fauci tried to kill everyone with his Illuminati vaccine, or that January 6th was a peaceful stroll through the Capitol and Liz Cheney should be jailed for investigating it, everyone knows there is zero merit to going after any of these guys and none of them will be tried for anything. All it will do is make their lives miserable for the next 4 years while they're "investigated"... which is Trump's entire goal. Retribution, and a warning to anyone else who crosses him.

So if Biden can put a stop to that then hell yeah he should. Fu** them. An no, there's no equivalence between a rogue Supreme Court deciding to give Trump blanket immunity to make all of his impending convictions go away (and allow him to do god knows what this time) and Biden deciding to use the pardon to defend people from Trump's perversion of the Justice Department.
