Embarrassing effort and disorganized play tonight. Ball boys did their job in helping to kill extra time. Great home field advantage there!

That was as bad a loss as any of the wins were good. Not just because it was a loss, but the entire effort -- the starting lineup, the horrible passing, played kickball instead of linking passes, terrible in the final third including on set pieces that never even gave our guys a chance, and leaving a guy unmarked on the goal

And yes, how there were only 7 minutes added to begin with, and then at least 3 of those minutes interrupted by fans on teh field, etc....(though i think we could have played 15 more minutes and not scored)

As good as Turner is as a goalie, he's awful with the ball at his feet. He provides so many oh s**t moments.

Haaa, I thought the same thing several times -- seemed like a couple of close calls. I just hate watching our guys in the back kick it to midfield, where we inevitably lose control.

We were hosting a bday party, so had the sound down, but I'd be interested to know what the studio guys were saying -- I think the coach deserves a ton of criticism (unless several guys had knocks we didn't know about)

I didn't like the 7 changes from the previous game. We had no sense of urgency at all tonight. Really bad loss and makes the game with CR really important. Not a fan of Zardes at all and Lleglett looked so slow out there. Played kickball all night and Turner is not great with his feet. We turned the ball over 90% of the time when he booted to midfield.

EXACTLY. I just don't get the changes -- heck, in the Jamaica game, they took Pepi out in the 70th minute, presumably to rest him....then he doesn't start?
And no Tyler Adams?
Why would our staff ever assume any game could be won with something less than our best players on teh field....especially when 3 of those best -- Pulisic, Reyna, and McKinnie - are not available for the game.

I swear, if i were director, last nights game would have been a fireable offense. I know you can't do that in the middle of qualifying, but jeez....just a bonehead management.

Agree about Zardes. But that is Berhalter's guy going back to their Columbus days. He's better coming in as a late sub.

^Sure hope we see a "hair on fire" response from the team today. Third game in 7 days and we swallowed the bullet on playing a bunch of backups the other night....so we should absolutely be the much more fresh team than CR. Step on them early, keep 2-goal lead to make sure don't allow a cheapy to lose points.

Yeah, that was about as bad a start as possible. But then we had a good 30 minute run in the 1H, probably should have gotten 2 goals then. Sloppy in the 2H, but that probably goes with being a super young team and missing 2 of your best (although still young) players.

Hope we have Pulisic and Reyna back for November. Just qualify....and let these young pups get experience.

I did think Busio showed a little something in the last 20 minutes. CR was likely tired, but he flashed.

Weird that CR went with their gray hair squad! Oh well! US settled in and controlled most of the last 3/4 of the game. Win and move forward! I think we're sitting good for now. Mexico still looming ahead.

Also weird they took out Navas. Dude would have had to have had a leg separating from his body before I"d have given him a break.

Played well last night. No kickball and attacked constantly down the flanks with Robinson and Dest. Adams took a leadership role last night that was needed. He jumped on Weah and Aaronson for not defending in the defensive third when the ball was cleared. I also am impressed with Richards and Busio. I think Busio can challenge Musah for a starting midfield position. Richards has great recovery speed and think he has kind of cemented himself in the back. Overall, great result and hope Pulisic and Reyna are healthy in November.

Yeah, not as much kickball, but would still love to see us connect more passes. The Dest goal came at the end of an extended possession where we moved the ball around a lot, connecting >10 passes.

Still too many giveaways, including several late last night when we should have been easily salting that game away against a tired opponent (again, I think some of that can be chalked up to not having any grizzled veterans on the field)

Good victory and great recovery after a really bad start. My main concern about this team continues to be consistency from match to match. They just haven't put together a string of games where it really looks like they're building on the last match.
SexualChocolate
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I agree with you but our team is extremely young and these type of matches can only improve consistency. The game against Panama, I put on Gregg. No reason to start 7 new players after playing so well the previous game. I know he would get flack from the club teams for overusing certain players but that Panama game was a critical road game that we should have won. My hope is that as we go through qualifying, we can be more consistent.
