Aren't they in for Ronaldo now?

Who Spurs? Or City?

My take on things is that City was all in for Kane and if they couldn't get Kane, they would look to add Ronaldo. Supposedly Levy turned down 150m for Kane, which to me, is wild.

I would expect City to double down on Ronaldo now since Pep really wants a center forward.

Yep, City is in on Ronaldo

Translated:

There is an agreement between Manchester City and Cristiano Ronaldo!

Flag of Italy All that remains is for Juventus to accept the inclusion of a City player

Didn't take long. Wonder how United fans are feeling about this?

I hate this just because of the "superteam" mode of unlimited spending. OTOH, thinking of deBruyne's creativity working with Ronaldo is pretty compelling.

Yeah I don't like it either. I know it happens across all sports these days but they just set the transfer record and even though they likely won't have to pay a fee for Ronaldo, the value of their club is beyond silly at this point.

Sort of kills the parity of things a bit. Could a team like the 2015-2016 Leicester squad ever win the league again with City spending their way to titles?

I don't know if anyone even thought a team like Leicester could then -- it was what made it so awesome; but the gap only gets bigger it seems (PSG, Barca, and a few other clubs similar in Europe)

Football is the one sport where the cap, and other parity rules, seems to result in almost every team having a shot at the playoffs. That is more fun.

Quick thoughts:

Poor Brugge!

You compare Grps A and B to Chelsea's group, and just shake your head. I'm not suggesting any malfeasance, it's just luck, but man, there is some huge disparities.

Its actually nice to have some of these super teams in the same group -- sure, it means the other two teams are unlucky, but at least now we get to see City play PSG, when there is no guarantee of that in the knockout.

B and A are the 2 toughest groups. I also think Group E is hard as well but some teams got really lucky. LFC needs payback against Atletico. That PSG vs Man City matches are going to be must watch TV!

Never going to build broad interest in USMNT if they are stuck behind apps like Paramount+ for most of their matches

I agree. This should be on a major network. If anybody has trouble getting this, let me know.

Now it looks like United. Either City or United....will make him easier to dislike in the EPL

Harsh red card on James. If he had not thrown his arm forward I believe he does not get a red card.

It's the right call. He moved his arm forward to clear the ball off the line. Great adjustments made by Tuchel to get the draw. Give Chelsea major props. Thought LFC played good but they could not figure out the pack line D again. Good news in the VVD looked almost like his old self b4 the injury.

Stayed up to watch and was very disappointed in that effort. Not a big Josh Sargent fan. He missed numerous opportunities. We were very sloppy and the style of one touch quick passing just allowed El Salvador to counter attack. Really think we should have came away with 3 points there.

Was driving home so didn't get to see it. But yes, first reaction is a negative one to only getting one point there. It was one of the road games I was hoping we'd win to relieve pressure.

But...probably some of the learning curve of having all these young guys is learning to win away in qualifying. We have to get 3 this w/e.

Horrendous effort from our guys. Not really any positives. Couldn't build out of the back. Needless giveaways. Is this really the best we have to offer right now? (I know Pulisic missed but he's just one guy). Really pathetic showing from our guys last night.
