What? Did '07 send out the bat signal to you guys again?

Everything with him in his entire existence here is / has been about Trump... he (and Chem) think(s) that "Trump" is the only singular reason why Biden was elected in 2020. That it was all about him - and nobody else.

So, if it is DeSantis or someone else this next time, 18? - does that mean that you don't vote democrat next Presidential election?

How'd you vote last time in NC, Cooper?

Stein?

Cherie Beasley?

Eagerly awaiting your response. (or maybe you'll just run away again, until '07 throws his next "bat signal" out?)

Nice talking to you, by the way.

What does it matter if people still test positive? I didn't think anybody trusted the tests or the data anyway? But you trust it if it says somebody is positive after the JAB for obvious reasons? But who cares? Offering that people still test positive after vaccination with no mention of rates of infection compared to unvaccinated cohorts and no mention of disease severity comparisons between the 2 cohorts really offers no information whatsoever. The assumptions and insinuations are simply wrong. And, if anyone believed the vaccines would completely eradicate a novel virus, that's on them. Sure the messaging was bad, but most seem pretty good at shouting what they believe and don't believe when the gubmint speaks, so forgive me if I don't believe the ones shouting about the message say they all of a sudden blindly trusted the message about the virus going away.
Thanks for this and as usual, you make some very good points. The messaging around the vaccines has been horrible and lacking in nuance. This has caused a lot of confusion for people who both support and do not support the vaccines.

The vaccines were expected to impact and reduce "severe" infection and this has definitely been the case. The numbers and statistics on this are very clear. Unfortunately, much of the messaging and even the actions of public health have not communicated or reinforced the true impact of the vaccines. The focus on full vaccination (and the role of boosters) has been lost by many in public health and the media.

I read a very good editorial/article in the New England Journal of Medicine a couple of weeks ago on this topic. The labeling of Covid cases after vaccination as "breakthrough cases" has been a huge failure. I agree with the article's author that these are not "breakthrough cases" and should not be described in this way. Here is the quote from the article I found most compelling:
Quote:

"Arguably, the most disappointing error surrounding the use of Covid-19 vaccines was the labeling of mild illnesses or asymptomatic infections after vaccination as "breakthroughs." As is true for all mucosal vaccines, the goal is to protect against serious illness to keep people out of the hospital, intensive care unit, and morgue. The term "breakthrough," which implies failure, created unrealistic expectations and led to the adoption of a zero-tolerance strategy for this virus. If we are to move from pandemic to endemic, at some point we are going to have to accept that vaccination or natural infection or a combination of the two will not offer long-term protection against mild illness."
You can read the full article below and I do encourage everyone to read it (it is a very short article). It provides a very good perspective on what we should expect from the vaccines and how public health messaging and actions need to change as we move from a pandemic virus to an endemic virus.

So let's make an assumption that everyone agrees the Rona is here to stay and part of our natural viral curve that ebbs and flows with the seasons based on latitude and climate and a variety of things we have no control over.

Let's assume we all agree the vaccine was/is successful in reducing severe disease and hospitalizations, as well as death.

With those assumptions, what happens in the future? Is the original two shot dose enough forever, even though it was technically for a strain of coronavirus that is by all accounts no longer in circulation? Are we to advise a COVID shot once per year like the flu shot? Will it be as successful as the flu shot, where most years the vaccine manufactures miss the dominant strain of influenza?

I expect it to become a yearly vaccination, like the flu and it will be recommended for people at higher risk of severe illness if they contract the virus. For most people, it will no longer be a novel virus to their immune system (for example it is estimated 75% of children have already been infected in the US) and a yearly booster may not be warranted. They will continue to contract the variant currently in circulation, their immune system will fight it off with minimal levels of infection, and they will go about their life - much as we do today with other endemic viruses.

With respect to the "original antigenic sin" mentioned in the article Davie linked, is that a potential issue with any vaccines or just the mRNA ones? Is it likely to become more of a problem if people are getting vaccines every year?

Great question.

Coronaviruses and influenza seem to be fundamentally different with regard to protection afforded by vaccines. Unlike flu, where vaccine efficacy seems much dependent on guessing right WRT the strains that end up becoming dominant in a given season, the COVID vaccine developed using Alpha/Beta/Gamma strains was still highly protective against severe illness from Delta/Omicron.

I'll be really curious to see where this issue lands. My guess is that like you suggest we land on yearly booster at least for a few years, but who knows.

Great post, I would also add that China produced their own vaccine, and there is no real believable data on the effectiveness of their vaccine. Additionally, I believe they have a much lower vaccine rate in their total population as well as their older population.

So I think it's a false comparison to make between China and the US with respect to China's draconian efforts to isolate portions of their country to prevent spread vs mask mandates and the 6' rule and any other stupid thing that governments local, state and federal have done here. What China is doing now ISN'T ever coming to the US. You can thank vaccination rates and the constitution and a free press for that.
China also helped produce the Pfizer vaccine! Where's the free press telling you that?

Any. OAS has been described since the 60s. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not good, depending on multiple variables. I think it's mostly been studied for flu strains (and vaxxes), based on phenomena witnessed among different aged folks during different outbreaks of the HxNxs. But as you can clearly see, it appears to only matter for the mRNA jabs.

Vaccine expert warns DELUGE of COVID-19 vaccine complications will soon COLLAPSE the healthcare system

Virus and vaccine expert Dr. Geert Vanden Bossche @GeertVandenBossche believes the massive amount of complications caused by the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines can collapse the healthcare systems of entire nations.

Vanden Bossche formerly worked as a senior officer for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and then as a senior program manager for the Gates Foundation-funded Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization.

He gave this warning on Nov. 20, 2021, in a video message titled "Message to Austria," which was released to coincide with a large rally in Vienna opposing COVID-19 restrictions.

As his first warning, Vanden Bossche @GeertVandenBossche advised Austrians to "never, ever … allow anything, or anybody, to interfere or suppress your innate immune system." He explained that a person's natural immune system is his or her first line of defense against infections.

Vanden Bossche further explained that the so-called antibodies provided by the COVID-19 vaccines suppress the body's innate immune system and vaccines cannot substitute for it because the effectiveness of these so-called antibodies plummets quickly after injection and do not actually prevent infection or transmission of the virus.

If the COVID-19 vaccines are not helpful for adults, Vanden Bossche warns that this is especially true for children.

Vanden Bossche warned that the innate immunity of children "can easily be suppressed by vaccinal antibodies" because their antibodies are "so young and so naive that they can easily be outcompeted by vaccinal antibodies."

He further warned that the continued vaccination of children could lead to a surge in autoimmune diseases in the world's youth. Therefore, vaccinating children "is an absolute no-go," he said. "We cannot vaccinate our children with these vaccines."

Vanden Bossche @GeertVandenBossche later said those who have gotten themselves vaccinated should not get booster vaccine doses, calling it "absolutely insane" to do so.

"What this will do is just further increase the immune pressure of the vaccinal antibodies on their innate immunity," he said. "Absolute nonsense. It is dangerous and should not be done."

He also mentioned that when the fully vaccinated and boosted come up against different diseases, what little remains of their immune systems will have an extremely difficult time protecting the body.

Higher vaccination rates lead to higher likelihood of health system collapse

Vanden Bossche believes that the greatest weapon anti-vaccine protesters and health freedom advocates have against COVID-19 and the mandates is to not get vaccinated. He described this battle as a "fight for your health," and if fewer people get vaccinated, the measures governments put in place will not be sustainable.

He also expressed great concern for the vaccinated, stating that health freedom advocates also need to treat them with compassion and understanding.

Completely agree. 575M doses over 17 months, and no evidence of this horse sht at all. Maybe ol geert needs to set foot in a hospital to realize the spikes in disease stress the system. Not once have the vaccines stressed the system to date, and it seems pretty clear that the vaccines have GREATLY reduced the stress to health systems.

In contrast to the reportedly compassionate yet sobering news about the jabs, Schneider et al updated their Dec numbers based on their model and they predict the vaxxes have saved us 2.2M deaths, 17M hospitalizations, 66M infections, and $900B in health care costs in addition to a reduction in lost days at work.

Ill just add, most of my clients (hospitals) require flu shots if you are on site. If you dont provide proof, you have to wear a mask while on site. This has been the case well before Covid was a thing though.

During flu seasons of the past, I was required to wear a mask when visiting my mom. She suffered breathing issues related to her Muscular Dystrophy and was on a ventilator for the last 20 years of her life. Typically during the flu season she would be admitted to the hospital for a couple of weeks, due to infections caused by being on a respirator and on those occasions, all visitors to her room were required to wear a mask. We were not required to show proof of a flu vaccine, but for workers in a hospital, I could see this being a requirement.

I should add, I am about 95% sure this was for employees/contractors, not to visit the hospital. Fairly certain its a liability issue, not necessarily a health issue.

The University of California Executive order you reference says people have to be given information on the Flu Vaccine and then provide proof that they've gotten it or an affirmation that they've declined it. If they decline then they just have to wear a mask, similar to what FlossyDFlynt said in their reply. It doesn't say they have to have the flu vaccine to visit campus unless I'm misreading it.

Medical tyranny...........just the beginning.

A pre-med biology and Spanish language student of Union College in Upstate New York was unenrolled and given 3 days to pack up and leave for refusing to get a COVID booster shot, after she experienced serious adverse reactions from a second Pfizer vaccine jab.
Diamond Puentes values her education a lot, she is a first-generation student who comes from a low-income household and was on an academic scholarship.
"I had no prior health issues before the vaccine. After getting it, I had side effects immediately. I ended up in the ER and I continue to have symptoms since then. And so when the school mandated the booster, I was reluctant to get it. I sent the school out an email letting them know my concerns: 'I ended up in the ER, I'm still sick from it.' I sent my paperwork from the ER, they denied that. I talked to my doctor, my doctor told me it was 'ill-advised' [to get the booster], nothing that I was saying was going to be accepted by the school," Puentes told The Epoch Times, audibly distressed.
"I've just been expelled. I've been unrolled from classes, not permitted on campus anymore. I got kicked out of housing," she added.

Same. Felt pretty crappy yesterday and last night but definitely on the upswing today.

Went to a family get together last weekend up in Williamsburg, little cousin was performing in his high school play. Eight of the 13 of us that were either in the house together or shared a lot of contact over the weekend have come down with it over the last week.
