Yuck - I still remember Friday 3/13 was the day everything really changed. Figuring out what the hell to do with a 1.5 and 4.5 yr old at home every day while working was not the best time of my life.TheStorm said:

I had an 8 year-old grandson living with us that all of a sudden wasn't able to go to elementary school anymore (my daughter was a single-mother and she (they) had lived with us since she found out she was pregnant and decided to come home from ECU)... Initially, I had to move my computer desk into the master bedroom walk-in closet to get any work done.PackFansXL said:
One of the benefits of reaching 60 is you don't have young children constantly demanding your attention. Thankfully, I didn't have to deal with those issues during the pandemic. I am sorry you and others had to deal with it for so long. I can only imagine how awful it must have been, especially if you had school age children who were stuck at home trying to follow a Zoom class. This pandemic absolutely sucked and it was made much worse by politicians and teacher's unions. Hopefully, life has largely returned to normal for you and those in similar circumstances.

Honestly, two years on, I don't feel much different than I did in my first post in this thread.
"In my job, I come in contact with a lot of people in a lot of places every day. I try always, and in particular during flu season, to avoid shaking hands and things like that, and using sanitizer if I do. Reading about this thing, I don't know if there are any precautions we can really take that will do anything. I can't bunker down in my house until it's over, I have to continue to work, so at this point I'm just keeping a watchful eye on information as it comes out."
"it should just be a few months", so many of us thought.TheStorm said:Are you saying that they've moved the goalposts again to try to just get a little more mileage out of this?Wayland said:

Only next week will New York City Public Schools allow children to take the mask off outside....

OUTSIDE!
We must place restrictions on public health itself

Saw NCSU updated guidance today. Story had the headline that said something to the effect of "NCSU relaxing mask rules." You read the story and it says that masks are still required in classrooms/labs, buses, places where close contact is required as well as clinics/student health center. To me that reads as though they relaxed it for, what, Talley, gyms, hallways of buildings and that's about it? Gyms are LONG overdue (as is everywhere else as mask mandates don't do anything), I've met a couple of guys going to a Y in Cary who are State students but go there to work out without a mask on.Daviewolf83 said:

California, Oregon and Washington have ended school mask mandates the day before Joe Biden’s state of the union address. They lied to you for two years about kids needing to wear masks and then abandoned them for politics. It was never about science. This was totally shameful.

They eased the requirements further today. Now only required in health care settings and the Wolfline. Of course that email came out before the new CDC guidelines so they may relax further.bgr3 said:Saw NCSU updated guidance today. Meh. Coordinated propaganda. I'm sure the SOTU will take credit for cases and reopenings tonight. It's all coordinated.

Barring a turn around, by date collected this week could be the lowest in NC since July.statefan91 said:Case levels down to levels we had in October (< 70k), just FYIpackgrad said:statefan91 said:

Wayland, I don't follow this topic that much, but are they still mainly using the PCR tests for the testing? If so then the data is worthless.Wayland said:Barring a turn around, by date collected this week could be the lowest in NC since July.statefan91 said:Case levels down to levels we had in October (< 70k), just FYIpackgrad said:statefan91 said:

It is probably about 75-80% PCR and 20-25% Antigen as far as identified cases. But, PCR does have a potential of long tail.
But wouldn't you be castigating them for not removing guidelines / recommendations with plummeting case counts / hospitalizations / etc?bgr3 said:Nice to The (political) ScienceTM changing so quickly.PortCityPackFan said:They eased the requirements further today.
