If you go by reported cases, NC is at 224 per 100k per week. But the reality on the downslope of the curve (due to reporting lag and backlog) we are all below that.
At a state level we are at about 13.5 admissions per 100k per week.
Using the NC DHHS numbers the CURRENT percent of beds used by COVID is 9.5% (I didn't calculate a 7 day average here because I am lazy). But I don't know if they are using the State or Federal dataset here.
But for the life of me, I can't figure out how you get these metrics clean at the county level as resources like hospitals are shared on a regional level.

One of the benefits of reaching 60 is you don't have young children constantly demanding your attention. Thankfully, I didn't have to deal with those issues during the pandemic. I am sorry you and others had to deal with it for so long. I can only imagine how awful it must have been, especially if you had school age children who were stuck at home trying to follow a Zoom class. This pandemic absolutely sucked and it was made much worse by politicians and teacher's unions. Hopefully, life has largely returned to normal for you and those in similar circumstances.
I had an 8 year-old grandson living with us that all of a sudden wasn't able to go to elementary school anymore (my daughter was a single-mother and she (they) had lived with us since she found out she was pregnant and decided to come home from ECU)... She got engaged that July (2020) and moved to Texas later that summer, which was very difficult for us... in many ways, it was like losing our own son for my wife and I... thankfully, things have turned out great for her and my grandson now has something that he always deserved and needed - a father of his own! *They were the ones we went to visit in Colorado Springs this past fall.

Pretty spot on for me too, aside from the hand shaking and hand sanitizer. I'm a hand shaker, hugger guy regardless of season. Worked through the whole thing as an essential worker and never knowingly got it.

I remember being at the US Whitewater Center (hiking) in Charlotte and leaving and hearing the news article debating whether Meck County kids would go to school that next week.....and we were discussing how it would hopefully be just a couple of weeks, and we could return to normal. Crazy how much things have changed since then.
Only next week will New York City Public Schools allow children to take the mask off outside....

I would assume quickly, except Durham. CMS updated their guidelines pretty quickly after CDC changes and NCDHHS changes out.

Saw NCSU updated guidance today. Story had the headline that said something to the effect of "NCSU relaxing mask rules." You read the story and it says that masks are still required in classrooms/labs, buses, places where close contact is required as well as clinics/student health center. To me that reads as though they relaxed it for, what, Talley, gyms, hallways of buildings and that's about it? Gyms are LONG overdue (as is everywhere else as mask mandates don't do anything), I've met a couple of guys going to a Y in Cary who are State students but go there to work out without a mask on.Daviewolf83 said:
