I think when you choose to have a bombastic posting style combined with grouping everyone into neat little boxes to fit a narrative, you shouldn't be upset when someone calls you out that there are other reasons why people wear masks on lieu of some sort of political statement.

When you throw grenades haphazardly, sometimes they blow up in your face. Good on you for apologizing, but you should've just left it at that.

I didn't apologize. I didn't say anything wrong. He spun it to fit his narrative. I explained to him several times how he took what myself and others were saying out of context like he always does. No grenade blew up in my face. He kept harping on the same BS agenda he has for months with zero substance or meaningful response.

Since you seem so invested in the conversation did I not clarify the fact that there are reasons that people wear masks other than Covid? Did I not ask him had they been wearing masks prior to Covid? He never answered because it didn't fit his narrative.

Now if you want to stick your beak in the bowl feel free to and I'll clarify it for you as well. We were discussing P*$$^ hat wearing scream at the sky "karens." Full Stop.

I could care less what you or any of your buddies think about me. Sorry the lefties can't handle the damn truth.

I don't like the "tone" or posting style of many people that post here. But I don't go around insinuating or calling for any of them to be censored in any way, much less banned. I don't understand why people like you can't just be "tolerant", and allow people to have freedom of speech.

If this poster bothers you that much, use the "ignore" feature on them. And even if you have to see others quoting their posts, just deal with it. It doesn't "harm" you or this board to have to see posts by people you dislike or strongly disagree with. As long as they are not breaking any rules, there is no justification for saying they should be censored.

We could be having the same conversation in a bar that we're having here.

I could go up to someone and yell factually correct stuff in their face. I'd be right, but I'd also be begging to either get thrown out for an ass whoopin.

Personal conduct and delivery matter just as much as content. That's true in real life; it's unclear to me why anyone thinks it shouldn't be the same on these boards.

I saved the homophobic and racists comments you posted that were removed for instances just like this. Your posting style and the things you have posted in those posts are far worse than me calling you a SOCIALIST. Which you are along with a few other things.

Out of respect for the site and the owners I will not post them to remind you how shallow and thoughtless the things you posted were. Just so you know I have them and you repeated them three times before they were deleted. You also reveled in the fact that you could post it and didn't "give a damn what anyone thought." Classy.

So throw stones from within your glass house. Plenty of people know what you said and I'm sure they also find it pretty damn funny that you are trying to have anyone banned after what you said would get 95% of the people fired from their jobs today immediately.

But you know, you do you. You told us who you are and I damn sure believe you.

I answered your question already as did Oldsouljah. You failed to acknowledge that because it didn't fit your narrative of continuing your obsession with me.

We were all discussing the nut job P&$$^ hat wearing screaming at the sky folks that are wearing masks for political purposes. You spun it to fit your "victim" narrative. You do that EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I also said if they were afflicted prior to Covid then surely anyone with a compromised immune system would have already been wearing a mask when in public which you promptly disregarded.

And yes...you are playing political games with this. You ignore the substance of the response and focused only on your BS spin that I insulted people with cancer or other immune deficiency diseases.

You also just ignored the fact that YOU were the only one crying about mean ol' BBW insulting cancer victims. So I guess the rest of the board is cold hearted and could care less from your standpoint?

What a damn joke.... I'm done with this and again I'm done with you. Go pound sand.

Very insulting to tell someone to go pound sand. For the next 2 weeks, every post I make will I clude a reference to that so that you can relate to it because you have a habit of doing that yourself. Have a great day.
I think we've reached the point of what Steve has been warning about. I propose we drop it here before someone receives a consequence that I'm sure none of us want to see happen.

They welcome anyone and everyone as long as you think like them, have the same beliefs as them, support the same things as them, etc.....

You must fall in line like good little sheep or they will do their best to get you cancelled.

Any opinions other than theirs are labeled as some kind of -ist, bullying, lies or just plain MEAN!!!!

There is no such expectation. If there was, then there would be a clearly defined rule, such as to be "non-abrasive" or whatever, which would be impossible to enforce and would be completely subjective.

The requirements for forum "decorum" and civility are already covered under the existing rule against personal attacks and name-calling against other posters. When it comes to attacks against third parties (public figures), political parties or ideologies, all gloves are off and they can be criticized and attacked as harshly as humanly possible.

And I get it...I am extremely annoyed by many posters here. But that doesn't give me the right to say they should be silenced. The bar analogy is not a great analogy. Speaking in person and conversing in writing are very different. When communicating in writing, your "tone" can often be misinterpreted.

Of course raising your voice at someone in person may seem harsh. But that takes place even in debates in Congress. Sure, the person being yelled at doesn't like it. But you don't kick someone out of Congress for raising their voice or being abrasive.

If you don't like someone's tone here and don't want them responding to you directly, you can use the "ignore user" feature.

New Record Set. Longest time between death and report. NC DHHS reported a COVID19 death from June 21, 2020 today.

Hospitalizations at 613 for a second straight day (I feel like true census aren't being done daily). Like some places are kind of checking on Mondays and then just copying every other day (while others likely are doing REAL counts).

7 day reported death number is just over 10. This is the lowest it has been since early April (back before there was backlog to draw from).

50% of adults in NC FULLY vaccinated.

2.5% positivity. Lowest ever for NC (but I will continue to hate the metric).

You and i have certainly disagreed on this particular subject matter, and i know I've gotten a little chippy at times, but i hope I've made it clear that i respect your position and the arguments you make and actually enjoy the back and forth. You've always kept it civil. It hasn't gone unappreciated, my friend. You live what you preach, and there's a lot to be said for that.

I've enjoyed our discussions as well. I may slip sometimes, but I do try my best to keep as civil and respectful a tone as possible with other posters - while still, at times, criticizing political parties or ideologies in a very harsh manner. Not only is that how every one of us want to be treated...but it also hurts a person's persuasiveness and argument(s) when they behave in a personally disrespectful manner.

No two people agree on everything. We will likely have major disagreements (on important issues) with every person we ever encounter. And, related to that point, none of us all have it all figured out. Each of us have room for personal growth and learning, and currently hold incorrect beliefs that we need to change, and may end up changing in the future. That's why freedom of speech is so important. Without it (and if only certain views are allowed to be voiced), the truth on many issues will be suppressed and many people will remain in error, including each of us individually.

Very good points GP and thanks for posting this reminder for all of us.

I am a huge supporter of free speech - along with all of our rights as codified in the Bill of Rights. It is important to recognize that freedom of speech is the 1st Amendment. America is unique from every other country from this respect and it something we should all cherish. Through open dialog and disagreement, we can continue to advance as a country. When governments and individuals act to curb and control speech, they cease to act in the best interest of the people being governed.

While many nations have "positive" rights that say what the government must provide to the governed, our nation was uniquely established with "negative" rights that put limits on the power of the government to restrict its citizens.

Great post....

Facebook just banned President Trump until "at least" January 2023....you think that has anything to do with the midterms?

The left is doing nothing but shredding the Constitution before our very eyes. They control all of social media and 95% of the regular media.

Bad things are going to happen with the direction this type of fascism is taking us. Sadly, half the country are OK with being led around like sheep. Makes it easy for them not to have to think, work or put together any self accountability.

They'll get what they deserve soon enough.

The assault on free speech is a dangerous disease gaining a stronger foothold in Europe and beginning to be embraced here at home.
National Review Link
Quote:

A Scottish woman named Marion Millar was recently charged under the Malicious Communications Act which makes it illegal to send or deliver letters or articles that purposely cause "distress or anxiety" for posting "transphobic" and "homophobic" tweets in 2019 and 2020. The feminist activist, and mother of two autistic children, faces two years in jail if she's convicted.

Yet, one of Millar's offending tweets was reportedly nothing more than a picture of a ribbon representing the suffragette movement.

Earlier this year, the Scottish government proposed hate-crime legislation that would come with seven years' imprisonment for "stirring up hatred." And "hate speech" laws are gaining momentum here, as well.

Despite your silly notions of me being some sort of liberal (I know, its your AOC/Squad-like go-to shut-down of any opinion other than yours), I actually agree with most of this. Clearly, I'm no fan of Trump the person, nor how he messages, but it is wrong to ban him here. And there is no way to describe the timing of '23 other than being a way to negatively impact the ability of Trump to aid GOP chances in the mid-terms.

If there were a fair-and-balanced media, this would be the very type of corporate power action that would frighten and send them over the edge....though it is obvious why there are only crickets (or even glad-handed pats on the back) here.

This is a good post, GP.

I do disagree that there's no such expectation. A bar has no formal, written policy against abrasive and disrespectful behavior, but you're definitely getting thrown out of the bar if you do it over and over and over. Neither does a church, or a school, or maybe even your office but there are consequences if you do it repeatedly.

Most often, we don't act respectful because there's a rule requiring that we do; we act respectful because it's rude and unnecessary and counterproductive not to.

I also think it's a mischaracterization to act like BBW raising his voice is an aberration, heat-of-the-moment type thing. People in Congress don't yell at each other in virtually every exchange for the same reasons mentioned above. It would be a rude, unnecessary, and counterproductive race to the bottom.

All that said, I thought your post was a good one and always appreciate your civility.
