Currently, only 5 out of 50 states (plus DC) have hospitalization rates above 20 per 100,000 residents. Currently, NC has 10 people hospitalized per 100,000 residents. As a comparison, at the peak during the Winter wave, the rate for NC was 37 people per 100,000 residents.

And interestingly, Springfield (have posted info from there this week in the thread) which is in the heart of that Missouri orange area has rolled over and so far have a current wave hospitalization peak of July 23rd.

https://www.springfieldmo.gov/5068/Coronavirus

Still monitoring, but have seen some conversations that Missouri as a state is also rolling over.
I think I read last week where the prediction was 2 weeks to get to the peak nationally of the summer Delta wave. Have you read similar or even less than that?
Yes I have. Personally, I have been saying by mid to late August. One projection I saw last night indicated approximately 20-25 days remaining to get to the peak. This would sync up with last year's Summer wave and other summertime viral waves. I think we could hit around 1,500 hospitalized at the peak, before it begins to drop.

Good to hear fellas. Thanks for keeping up with the data for all of us.

It is also incredible to see the hospitalization rate per 100K drop from in the 30's to 10 over the past year. Vaccines!

Another good Tweet today that echoes what I have said recently. What is the endgame and what does the pandemic have to look like for the CDC and others to stop with their illogical policy pronouncements? As a nation, we have done a really good job in getting the truly vulnerable vaccinated (see my earlier vaccination post this morning) and we do know a large portion of the population also has natural immunity.

As a nation, we are in much better shape than many nations. We are seeing natural waves of infection in select areas, much of it due to the fact it is hot outside, so people go inside where airborne viruses spread more easily. If you look in other areas of the country, they are not seeing these peaks and it is somewhat due to vaccination differences, but it is also due to the fact they do not see these peaks any other years.

It is so nice to see NIH and CDC admitting they do not have evidence and data to back the policy change they recommended on masking.

Now they're openly saying it.

Satanic communist scum at CNN say "you shouldn't be able to work or go to the grocery store if you don't take the vaccines".

He reminds me alot of my father in law. I love to argue with that guy. Dude will argue his point no matter how wrong he is until that little vein starts to pop out on his head. Doesn't matter the facts of the situation at all...he can get quite indignant....

Civ...you don't get indignant like that...but you still remind me of my father-in-law

Thanks brother. Not about comparing me to your FIL, which I'm pretty sure is not exactly a full-throated compliment, but about saving me a spot at the dinner table. You got a place at mine too.

Many of us are here for the conversation and it can get heated but for me it's easy.

Pack sports/Que/Bourbon/Real life convo would never get Trumped by message board banter. Our shared affinity for State and great food, drink, and conversation would win out every time.

And Trump pun obviously intended. That was to provoke a TDS response from packgrad.

Ha! I'm just saying...

Last week I was told around here (when I said one of the benefits of continuing to get shots in arms is that it would eliminate the need to ever talk about COVID masks again) that we don't need to talk about masks any more.

So obviously we're not talking about masks, must be something else. We don't need to talk about masks any more.

So if we're not talking about masks, what are we talking about? What freedoms are we losing?

we have gotten a lot right on the medicine/ treatment side over the last year and a half. unfortunately the public policy responses have been a joke.

It is ALL about politics...sorry to the OP... but it is and always was about politics whether you want to admit it or not.

This is nothing but a practice run for next summer leading up to the 2022 mid-terms. And I absolutely challenge any of you lefties to refute that. Especially after this move by the Ice Cream Queen...

Cooper is going full on fear with his briefing today... even with the anecdotes about people begging for vaccines prior to be ventilated.

92% of cases for unvaccinated, per Cohen.

92% is pretty significant. 3k new cases as of today is also. I don't think he'll try for a mask mandate or closures but I am going to be pretty pissed if they do anything in regards to start school year virtually or closing education / childcare.

Cooper is following the general trend of trying to get the vaccinated angry at the unvaccinated.

That seems to be the nationwide strategy.

New EO. State Council Agencies need to verify employee vaccination status. State employees need to be tested once a week and be masked if not vaccinated.

"Encouraging" everyone mask in high spread counties.

Statewide mask mandate WILL lapse on Friday.

Quote:

Fauci defended the NIH's partnership with the Wuhan lab as recently as Sunday, and suggested that the agency has no plans to cut off funding for the kind of research which mounting circumstantial evidence suggests sparked the pandemic.
Quote:

The Biden administration's confidence in foreign virology research does not appear to have been shaken by the events of the last year: Not only does the NIH plan to continue its partnership with the Wuhan lab through EcoHealth Alliance, it also plans to spend $1.2 billion to increase its contribution to the Global Virome Project, which works to recover viruses from nature in order to make them more transmissible in labs, including in China.
Why would we continue to fund this research, especially given the likelihood one of the labs we used is either incompetent or outright deceitful?!

Allowing the mask order to lapse. Make recommendations that people take proper precautions during the case surge, the correct action. I'll give Cooper credit there.

Do not like the division and vaccinated people should be angry at unvaxxed people portion though.

I will hold judgement and my tongue on other items today.

I don't think they should be trying to make people mad at each other, but if 92% of the transmission is caused by a large part of the population that is choosing not to get the vaccine, I think that's worth recognizing.

Based on NCDHHS site, 50% of Total population is vaccinated, so:

- 50% of population (unvaxxed) is responsible for 92% of cases
- 50% of population (vaxxed) is responsible for 8% of cases

I mean, I would like to know the end points of that 92%. Is that this week? July? Since Jan 1, 2021? All time?

I will assume the shorter timeframe, but I don't know.

And I will give the benefit of the doubt that it is a legitimate statistic comprising only cases in the current wave, and will say if this is the data... present it as plainly and openly and transparently as possible so that you can bring people in with your sincerity and honesty.

Why is it an off the cuff response to a question in a briefing that the VAST majority of NC residents don't actually watch?

Seems to be messaging problem if your go to was to try and make vax'd mad at unvax'd, instead of leading with cold data.

As I commented in my post last night, this is definitely a strategy and it is the strategy of a bad leader. Make one section of the populace mad at the other side of the populace. Biden failed to get the number of people vaccinated that he proposed and this is his new strategy. Divide the nation further and use the division to try and increase vaccination. My prediction - it will not work. People who are not vaccinated are going to become even more resistant. They will not say - "I don't like people being mad at me and calling me names, so I will get vaccinated." This is not how this works.

I think the only way at this point to convince folks who are hesitant - key word - about taking the vaccine is getting the shots to primary care and having one-on-one conversations. Have a honest conversation about said patient's medical history and any potential risks of the vaccine with them and let them make a decision.

Politicians on either side, celebrities, message board heroes, etc. aren't likely to convince many.

I agree. I believe there is a set of people who might be hesitant and a one-on-one conversation with their primary care physician might persuade them. I would have thought by now that vaccines would have been pushed out to the primary providers, since many people have more trust in them.

Crazy that PCP's don't have the ability to give the vaccine now. You can get vaccinated at Harris Teeter, but not your primary care physician? I understand the initial logic in the rollout and trying to get in as many arms as possible. You'd think this would be an Avenue we are pursuing now. Maybe it has to do with storage capability?

That's what we were originally told by our hospital system. We have reached out again this week to see if we can get doses, but not sure they will go for it. Other than that, I am not sure what the hold up would be as we receive other vaccines from them.

Notice how various state/city/federal agencies are now requiring regular testing (in addition to masks) for those employees not vaccinated. That is not based on science or any sound policy. If it was, then they would have been testing all along, for the past year and a half. The testing is being implemented solely as additional "punishment" of those who are not vaccinated, in order to attempt to motivate them to get jabbed.

IMO, the strategy to pit the vaxxed vs. the unvaxxed has nothing to do with getting more folks vaccinated and everything to do with creating another left-leaning voting bloc.

Everybody has to make a personal decision. You and your wife made a decision and now you have to live with it... It's funny how this is working backwards for you.

There are no punishments, just a consequence (whether viewed good or bad) for each person. No offense, but, if you are being serious, then... I find significant humor in your comment.

The maps that are showing New York, mainly New York City, as nearly 80% vaccinated but yet the "data" you speak of says that less than 60% of New Yorkers have been vaccinated.

Believing data from the lefty propaganda machine may be how you sheep roll. Those of us who are capable of thinking for ourselves, being self sufficient and not relying on the government to feed us, house us, clothe us and tell us how to think can pretty much make up our own minds.
