I can't find the post, but a few days ago people were discussing the fact that ~40% of the "delta cases" in the UK are among vaccinated people. I recall that one person was trying to spin that fact as "good for the vaccines" by claiming that the UK had some "really high" vaccination rate among their population - with the argument along the lines of "if almost everyone is vaccinated, then of course you might have 40% of cases among vaccinated people, but this really small portion of the population who are not vaccinated are making up 60% if the cases, making you 12 times more likely to get the virus if you are not vaccinated". Well, that's actually not the case at all. I looked up the number, and only 54% of the UK population are fully vaccinated. While that's among the highest rate of any nation in the world, it's not like the "vast majority" of the population are jabbed, as this person was arguing.

I don't buy for one second the claim right now that "~98%" of current covid cases in the US are among the unvaccinated. They are cooking the books with the "data" to push their pro-vaccine agenda.

More on vaccination of people under the age of 18. In the UK, the Joint Commission on Vaccination and Immunization has come out with their position and it is:

"The health benefits in this population are small, and the benefits to the wider pop. are highly uncertain. At this time, JCVI is of the view that the health benefits of universal vaccination in children and young people below the age of 18 do not outweigh the potential risks."

I doubt this gets much if any mention in the mainstream media in the US.

Read the full story here:
Independent Report - JCVI statement on Covid-19 vaccination of children and of children and young people aged 12 to 17 years
That is huge!!! I don't know how political these people are; however, it looks as if they are using SCIENCE to make that statement!

Early in the pandemic, the United States had an undertesting problem. Now we are overtesting those who are immune and asymptomatic. A person with immunity to the coronavirus will fight off an infection. But during and after the person's exposure to the virus, it's common for a low number of virus particles to be detectable in the nose. In medicine, we call this virus a "colonizer" a pathogen that does not cause illness or spread the illness. It's an incidental finding. But in today's world of routine coronavirus testing of vaccinated people, these positive tests are inflating the number of positive cases in a misleading way.

....

Testing people who have been vaccinated and have no symptoms could extend this pandemic forever. That's because a PCR test, which still remains the gold standard of testing (over antigen-based testing), can detect just a few virus particles or even just one. Those small amounts of the virus are not enough to cause transmission, according to studies in the Journal of Infectious Diseases and the Lancet. Indeed, such small amounts of exposure can boost immunity in the vaccinated while causing no ill effects.

.....

But by now, in almost all cases, testing the asymptomatic vaccinated and tallying cases among them has become counterproductive.

I said it when State had vaccinated players with no symptoms test positive and I just posted it on an Alphawolf thread - we should not be testing vaccinated people (or players) that are asymptomatic. If you do so, you will find people who test positive that may never become symptomatic and never transmit the virus to others.

I am very nervous this could be a protocol for sports in the Fall in the ACC and other conferences and it is all a result of what happened to State in Omaha. It is not based on science and it is a complete over-reaction. If we test vaccinated people for Covid, we actually do not want the hysteria around this disease to end. The news media, politicians, and other entities have a vested interest in keeping the fear and hysteria going. Why? It comes down to money. Just last night it was mentioned several states had extended their emergency orders and one of the reasons mention was the fact it allows them to collect more money.

Just last night, WRAL with more stupid and hysterical reporting on the recent outbreak. At one point they said "experts are surprised" by the recent outbreak. I immediately turned to my wife and said, "they need to find better experts, since I have been predicting this Summer outbreak for a few months." They went on to say that children becoming infected could cause the current outbreak to spread. This is absolutely stupid for them to say. At no point in this pandemic have children been a significant vector to the expansion of cases. In fact, initial fears that children would be vectors for spread (like they are with the yearly flu) were found to be wrong and many doctor's admitted they got it wrong. Apparently, every day is a new day for WRAL and what happened yesterday or last year does not matter.

The rules will go away as the vaccination percentage crosses a certain threshold. That seems to be the trend I am seeing around the country these days, like those comments from the SEC commish on teams who are 85%> vaccinated.

Other parts of the world, particularly Australia, are still under extreme tyrannical measures over this farce. Just announced that Sydney is going under a more extreme lockdown, with around 900,000 residents in one area "sealed off" and not allowed to leave their neighborhood. All over 111 cases and 1 death (a man in his 80s). This entire covid charade and the accompanying tyranny and economic suicide is the most insane thing in world history. I can't believe that people are buying it and putting up with this madness.

Just think of what Australia would be doing if they were having a more substantial level of deaths. It won't be long before they are hauling the unvaccinated off to quarantine/detention camps. Give it a few months. Right now Australia only has about 10% of their population vaccinated.

CNN has been predicting it for several months now (and i'm sure other MSM networks have as well), so I'm not sure why anyone should be surprised. **However you want to quantify "outbreak". The bar was so low, even minor increases in cases look like "outbreak"

So what's your answer? Are you going to pull your kids out of public schools? You saw Sleepy Joe last night and all of his dementia ridden answers tell you that kids under 12 must wear masks. It's coming.

You had options in 2020... we know what you did. Now we all are stuck with the SOCIALIST/MARXIST ideas and agendas that you voted for.

And you know what's sad? You and your ilk will once again follow in line like good little sheep in 2022 because you know.. it's easier to have someone tell you what to do than it is to think for yourself.

I've said if for months... they are setting up for the 2022 elections. 2020 proved that they could easily manipulate results in the places they need votes "after" they find out how many they need.

By keeping everyone in fear and using their MSM propaganda machine to its' fullest they can mandate nation wide mail-in voting, ballot harvesting and allow voting for 30+ days to ensure victory.

I am just baffled at how disconnected politicians seem to be from the current reality I am experiencing.

I have watched the last few months of kids crawling all over each other at the pool and summer swim/games.

And all of a sudden we are going to potentially mask them all back up and make sure they stay in their 3 feet of distance personal space box again and pretend it is completely normal?

Who really are the vocal minority that are driving this any more? I mean, you can tell polling isn't great when all Cooper's comments about schools are 'should'.

All Star baseball tournaments are in full swing around the state... Kids are playing together without masks on the field and off the field.

It is NOTHING but a power grab. They know their policies and their implementation of them are ridiculous. The only thing they have is to instill fear into their base that follows them blindly, accuse everyone that doesn't of being and "unintelligent rube" that doesn't believe in science while their version of "science" the "science" that ensures they keep power.

I'll be interested to see what the lefties have to say now. You just wait until the "Lambda Variant" comes out next spring/summer. We will have a Nationwide Lockdown via Executive Order and enforced by the National Guard if necessary.

The lefties ideologies are bulls*it and they have floundered every opportunity they had to work to make this country united. They don't care. And their base is all too happy to live their lives as mindless sheep.

Saw a small portion of an interview with the principal of Millbrook HS in Raleigh on the news this morning. In it, she was expressing her concern of having unvaccinated high school students not wearing masks, if they make it so only vaccinated high school students can go maskless. She worried it would create a surge in cases.

Bottom line - teachers and school staff have had every opportunity to get vaccinated. In fact, they were allowed to go to the head of the line and were vaccinated ahead of other essential workers. If they chose not to get vaccinated, it is on them. They need to be present this Fall for in-person learning and if they are nervous, they can still wear a mask, nothing is stopping them.

If parents are worried about their students being in a classroom, they can have their students wear a mask. If a high school student is vaccinated, they should not have to wear a mask in school. As you pointed out, we have gone this entire summer with students interacting personally, at camps, at swimming pools, and traveling with their families. We are now going to pretend none of this happened and enforce mask rules on students.

In some school systems in NC (Rowan and Union Counties are examples), they are already adopted a mask-optional policy for the Fall and this seems reasonable. Students 12 and over have a chance to be vaccinated if parents chose to do so (informed consent). Additionally, schools should not go to on-line instruction this year, if a couple of cases are reported in the school. The same guidelines used for whopping cough and the flu should be utilized this coming school year.

Over the past few days, I have presented information from other doctors with regards to what policies should be followed this coming school year as it regards masking and in-person instruction. Kids MUST be in school in the fall and every attempt possible must be made to avoid on-line learning. Implementing policies based on people's "feelings" and not the science and data is not appropriate.

My hopes is that the decoupling of cases and hospitalizations / deaths leads the CDC to update recommendations on things like school closures, masking, etc. Not sure how we get out of it until then.

With hospitalizations for Covid increasing and the media starting their hysterical messaging again, I have started digging back into the data. First up, a look at the percentage of hospitalized Covid patients who are in ICU. What you will see is the percentage for the last 14 days is within 1% of the historical percentage for the entire pandemic. What this tells me is for those who become infected, the severity is basically the same as it has been for the entire pandemic cycle.

Over the next few days, I will provide even more data on hospitalizations and in particular, what age groups are driving hospitalizations. I will also show how cases and hospitalizations are decoupled, due to vaccinations. I am also going to try and show some detail around the effectiveness of vaccines in lowering hospitalizations, by age group.

It's incredible for me watching the "return to the office" discourse.

I work in an eSsEnTiAl BuSiNeSs (what a BS concept, always has been) that never closed. I never stopped going to my office, we have individual offices so never wore a mask in the office. My fiance works for a large company in HR and has been 100% from home since March 2020. It has been really hard on her because she really enjoys the collaborative aspect of working in an office, breaking up her day with social interactions with co-workers and all that. I feel bad that I have had full access to my office becuase I know she would prefer to have hers. Thankfully they have plans that allow her to go back in early August but with all kinds of BS window dressing type "safety procedures."

Reading about people being actually scared to go back to the office is insane to me. Going back to the Y to workout they have all kinds of stuff that WE KNOW DOES NOTHING ABOUT COVID. They are still sanitizing all surfaces, when you return a locker key you have to drop it in a bucket so that it can be wiped down and sanitized. We have known for OVER A YEAR that COVID doesn't spread on surfaces and the only study that showed it could live on a surface was in a enclosed lab environment with no light.

Somehow people aren't concerned about the spread of that disinformation, wierd, huh?
