Cases are higher than I would have guessed for lag. I think the case numbers are being bumped some by outbreak testing. A number of new correctional and nursing outbreaks caught. Did a quick glance down county data, and other than Meck posting a little higher than average lately (around 300 cases) most of the other case increases are from smaller counties having slightly higher case totals reported.

The amount of tests done is obscenely low and shows that it is all basically hospital cases, not outside labs being counted.

Cases are higher than I would have guessed for lag. I think the case numbers are being bumped some by outbreak testing. A number of new correctional and nursing outbreaks caught. Did a quick glance down county data, and other than Meck posting a little higher than average lately (around 300 cases) most of the other case increases are from smaller counties having slightly higher case totals reported.

The amount of tests done is obscenely low and shows that it is all basically hospital cases, not outside labs being counted.

In my defense (not really) they went back and lowered yesterday's hospitalizations as well down to 1047. I don't get how they can keep doing that.

I really though I had updated that number though. But this certainly wasn't my first typo. I do make mistakes

regardless of the absolute numbers, the trends are certainly encouraging across most categories. We have to remember that we are only back at June levels and we were alarmed then.. we need to remain on alert.

I don't understand why Date reported is the default graph for them. Shouldn't date of specimen be the more relevant number anyways?

12 have COVID related deaths.

Wake alone has 39 new reported LTC deaths since last Friday when Cohen patted herself on the back on LTC

It took until July until NC underwent a testing program that testing in all nursing homes.

And it took until AUGUST to implement regular staff testing.

Tell me again what we have been doing the last 5 months?

That's a pretty sorry state of affairs. We've known from almost day one who was most vulnerable. I'm not sure it would matter, I don't know if you can stop those people from getting it, but basically ignoring that threat didn't make it go away.

I would have made LTC staff testing almost priority #1. Not saying some still wouldn't get by, but that is where the focus should have been all along. To congratulate yourself for doing it in August in the midst of a massive LTC surge is a little late.

Smart reasonable precautions. But instead the state wants to focus on other things, for the most part people have just given up on LTC.

I mean this is just last week, Mandy congratulating herself. Includes a couple graphs with June data for an August presentation when wide spread statewide LTC testing didn't happen until July.



It is all just bull**** propaganda, never addressing real issues.

In some businesses, bending the #s to promote yourself, then watching as it blows up and people are dying (months after significant preventative measures should have been prioritized) would be a fireable offense.

Maybe it would help if the Governor wasn't allowing active Covid positive individuals to be admitted to LTC facilities in this state? Someone that posts here that is "in the business" said that's what was happening in NC, but that we had better safeguards in place than New York, etc... sounds dumb to me, but then again I'm not "in the business".

How can you need a mask mandate, keep businesses shut down, etc. to "prevent the spread"... but then it's ok to admit active Covid positive individuals into LTC facilities? That's not how the "bubble" concept is supposed to work in my mind... why wouldn't those individuals instead be hospitalized until they are negative before being taken in as an LTC resident?

Cases are higher than I would have guessed for lag. I think the case numbers are being bumped some by outbreak testing. A number of new correctional and nursing outbreaks caught. Did a quick glance down county data, and other than Meck posting a little higher than average lately (around 300 cases) most of the other case increases are from smaller counties having slightly higher case totals reported.

The amount of tests done is obscenely low and shows that it is all basically hospital cases, not outside labs being counted.
