Watched last night's UNC TV interview with Cohen. In the world of ever shifting goal posts, she is now claiming that Phase 2 was extended so that they could see the effects of school openings on case counts. Just making stuff up as they go along.

I don't recall that being given as a reason a week ago in the briefing.
Wait?!? Was this the interview that they'd been advertising since last week's extension with the teaser "Cohen shares her views on the virus being politicized in NC"?

Boy, I bet that was grand! (any details?)

She does a (almost) weekly with UNC-TV called 'Focus On'. It used to actually provide some good insight, in recent weeks/months it has devolved into a propaganda filled love-fest.

Maybe that other interview was going to be on Spectrum now that I think about it... I probably already missed it.

Cases are higher than I would have guessed for lag. I think the case numbers are being bumped some by outbreak testing. A number of new correctional and nursing outbreaks caught. Did a quick glance down county data, and other than Meck posting a little higher than average lately (around 300 cases) most of the other case increases are from smaller counties having slightly higher case totals reported.

The amount of tests done is obscenely low and shows that it is all basically hospital cases, not outside labs being counted.

Except they have always been 'in line' ... in decline. Thursday is a peak day since it draws on Monday reporting.

****ing morons at WRAL don't understand that later weekdays pull mostly from weekday reporting so there is MORE CASES, and early weekdays draw mostly from weekends when there is LESS CASES.

Three days ago in an article from WRAL when cases are low:

You would think after 5 months the social media intern would understand data.

Since I am on a roll. Here is today's CLI... the non Mandy charts.

Both ICU and non-critical raw totals down. ICU as a % also down.

Testing in PHE facilities getting close to 5%

Again, less people in the ED for CLI, higher number of them admitted. There is space, so giving care. No capacity issues.

Looks like CBS is going all-in, full court press on tn covid propaganda tonight.

The MSM (and, redundantly the DNC) are fully invested in keeping the crisis in full bloom.

I wonder why?

Watched about a month of CBS Evening news several months ago and got so frustrated with Norah O'Donnell that I couldn't take it anymore, and switched to ABC.

Have there been a lot of issues with vote by mail in the past? Doesn't the majority of the military vote by mail?

I know, crazy, huh? But my wife likes to watch it as we finish dinner....and its one of those things where you can gain some marital capital by doing so, and you can turn that it in to sit and watch the Hurricanes playoff comeback win over the dayumed Bruins later at night....no harm, no foul.

There is a reason why secular liberal democrats are never in favor of improving verification for the voting process. There is a reason that they are always scheming to open up the voting process to voting fraud and ballot harvesting.

I mean always. All the while screaming incoherently that somehow the RussiaRussiaRussians stole the election from poor Hillary.

What could the reason be?

Maybe we can do a USPS / Voting thread instead of infecting the Coronavirus thread with this discussion

Some things off with data today I need to look into.
Robeson went up by 96 cases today. It appears related to an outbreak on 7/22 (no other day could account for that kind of case growth).
But the change in the state's count of case by specimen collected date for 7/22 is a MINUS 3 for that day?

Updated. Don't know what happened there.

In my defense (not really) they went back and lowered yesterday's hospitalizations as well down to 1047. I don't get how they can keep doing that.

I really though I had updated that number though. But this certainly wasn't my first typo. I do make mistakes

regardless of the absolute numbers, the trends are certainly encouraging across most categories. We have to remember that we are only back at June levels and we were alarmed then.. we need to remain on alert.

I don't understand why Date reported is the default graph for them. Shouldn't date of specimen be the more relevant number anyways?

Tower Nursing +5 (12 total)
Dan E and Louise Stewart Health Ctr +2 (2 total)

So far that is at least 105 LTC deaths in Wake County (pending future updates)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wake County has 24 licensed Nursing Homes per NCDHHS.

16 of them have ACTIVE C19 Outbreaks (at least 3 additional have resolved Outbreaks).

12 have COVID related deaths.

Wake alone has 39 new reported LTC deaths since last Friday when Cohen patted herself on the back on LTC

It took until July until NC underwent a testing program that testing in all nursing homes.

And it took until AUGUST to implement regular staff testing.

Tell me again what we have been doing the last 5 months?

That's a pretty sorry state of affairs. We've known from almost day one who was most vulnerable. I'm not sure it would matter, I don't know if you can stop those people from getting it, but basically ignoring that threat didn't make it go away.

That's a pretty sorry state of affairs. We've known from almost day one who was most vulnerable. I'm not sure it would matter, I don't know if you can stop those people from getting it, but basically ignoring that threat didn't make it go away.
I guess that is what frustrates me. Some of it isn't rocket science.

I would have made LTC staff testing almost priority #1. Not saying some still wouldn't get by, but that is where the focus should have been all along. To congratulate yourself for doing it in August in the midst of a massive LTC surge is a little late.

Smart reasonable precautions. But instead the state wants to focus on other things, for the most part people have just given up on LTC.

I mean this is just last week, Mandy congratulating herself. Includes a couple graphs with June data for an August presentation when wide spread statewide LTC testing didn't happen until July.

It is all just bull**** propaganda, never addressing real issues.

To seem rather than to be.

In some businesses, bending the #s to promote yourself, then watching as it blows up and people are dying (months after significant preventative measures should have been prioritized) would be a fireable offense.

Maybe it would help if the Governor wasn't allowing active Covid positive individuals to be admitted to LTC facilities in this state? Someone that posts here that is "in the business" said that's what was happening in NC, but that we had better safeguards in place than New York, etc... sounds dumb to me, but then again I'm not "in the business".

How can you need a mask mandate, keep businesses shut down, etc. to "prevent the spread"... but then it's ok to admit active Covid positive individuals into LTC facilities? That's not how the "bubble" concept is supposed to work in my mind... why wouldn't those individuals instead be hospitalized until they are negative before being taken in as an LTC resident?

Cases are higher than I would have guessed for lag. I think the case numbers are being bumped some by outbreak testing. A number of new correctional and nursing outbreaks caught. Did a quick glance down county data, and other than Meck posting a little higher than average lately (around 300 cases) most of the other case increases are from smaller counties having slightly higher case totals reported.

The amount of tests done is obscenely low and shows that it is all basically hospital cases, not outside labs being counted.

Robeson went up by 96 cases today. It appears related to an outbreak on 7/22 (no other day could account for that kind of case growth).
But the change in the state's count of case by specimen collected date for 7/22 is a MINUS 3 for that day?
