I wouldve gone to Smith but I get what Avent was going for. He wants to win the whole damn thing and you need the bullets each game for that

To me, you dont overdo it with a FR who didnt have a clean first inning

For what? At most he throws 20 pitches and we don't play again until Monday if we won.

Not saying he should've came in but I don't think they were "saving" him.

Dudan coming out for the 9th was fine. He had thrown an inning previous. Nerves had calmed down some. And those UK hitters hadn't seen him yet. Problem was the fastball. You got away with the first one. No idea why you'd throw the second one to there biggest HR hitter when your best pitch is the slider.

Here's my thing. You don't know how a pitcher will respond to the moment. With a super young bullpen, give me the guy who just got out of a tough situation with just one walk allowed.
