With the season-ending loss, NC State finishes the spring with a 25-8 overall dual record, marking the third-most wins in a single season under head coach Simon Earnshaw. The Wolfpack also set a program record earlier this season by winning the doubles point in 14 consecutive matches.

Certainly stings right now fresh off the loss in the quarters, but it was to the #1 seed on their home courts. But overall it was an amazing season. Got only the second ACC title in program history. And won the second national championship in doubles last November.

I haven't done a deep dive on next year's rosters for the top teams outside the ACC, but we should be favorites to win the ACC championship next year. We only lose our #2 singles player, Anna Zyryanova. UNC takes a big hit, losing both their #1 and #2 singles players.

She could be an extremely good addition to the team.

Her bio on the Texas site says she was listed as high as the #2 recruit in the U.S. in her class (was a freshman starting in fall 2024).

Quote:

Rated as a Blue Chip recruit by TennisRecruiting.net, which has listed her as high as No. 2 in the nation and No. 1 in the state of New York

She played very well in her true freshman season (2024-2025) at Texas, going 13-4 in singles in the dual season and reaching a high ranking of #39 in the country in singles during that season. Looks like she missed most of her sophomore season (2025-2026) this past year with an injury.

So she has at least two more seasons of eligibility remaining.

GoPack article on the newly signed transfer, Ariana Anazagasty-Pursoo…

She looks like an outstanding addition to the team, and probably one of the highest ranked players out of high school to commit to the program. Current player Victoria Osuigwe was also ranked #2 out of high school.

The Wolfpack women look to be loaded with talent for the 2026-27 season, and as I speculated a few posts above, if we return everyone on the roster as of right now I would tentatively expect them to be a top 5-6 team in the country next year and absolutely in contention for the team National title.

"We're very fortunate to have had a second chance to recruit Ariana," said Earnshaw. "We are even more so that she will be joining us next season. Ariana was one of the top recruits in the 2024 class and someone we felt strongly would be a perfect fit for our program and NC State at that time. Really a no-brainer for us on every level, and I couldn't be more excited to welcome Ariana to the [team]."

"I am very excited to be attending NC State in the Fall," said Anazagasty-Pursoo. "I can't wait to start working with the coaches, my teammates, and taking my game to the next level. Go Pack!"

Anazagasty-Pursoo comes to NC State after spending two seasons with the Longhorns, highlighted by a highly successful freshman campaign posting a 23-6 singles record, including a 10-4 mark in dual matches predominantly at the #4-6 positions. During her first Fall Anazagasty-Pursoo won the singles title at the ITA Texas Regionals thus qualifying for the 2024-25 NCAA Singles Championships. In addition she also tallied 16 doubles victories, with 12 coming in dual-match play while competing primarily on the top doubles court. These results gained Anazagasty-Pursoo season high ITA rankings of #39 in singles and #24 in doubles.

During the 2025-26 season, she competed in four dual matches before missing the remainder of the year due to injury.

Prior to college, the Westbury, N.Y., native was rated as a Blue Chip recruit by TennisRecruiting.net and was consistently ranked as high as No. 2 nationally and No. 1 in the state of New York. Anazagasty-Pursoo reached a career-high ITF junior world ranking of No. 38 capturing five ITF junior titles, including three doubles titles and two singles championships. Her singles titles came at the J3 tournaments in Santo Domingo and Coral Gables in 2022, while her doubles titles included the ITF J300 Pan American Closed, J2 Montreal and J1 Guadalajara in 2022.

Anazagasty-Pursoo also competed in both singles and doubles at all four junior Grand Slam events in 2023. She advanced to the Round of 32 in singles at Wimbledon and previously reached that round at the 2022 US Open. In doubles, she reached the Round of 16 at the US Open in both 2021 & 2023.

Regarding her injury, I looked on Pursoo's Instagram, and she made a post that she had surgery. From pictures it appears it was on her left leg (I'm guessing knee injury), as she is pictured on crutches and with a brace on the left knee. I would presume that the injury took place in either late January or early February. I trust that Earnshaw would not bring her on the team unless she is on the path to a full recovery.

I wonder what the timeframe is to see her back. If it's an ACL injury, as I've read it would take about 9-12 months to recover and be back playing. The injured player from our team this past year, Michaela Laki, is in the transfer portal per Coach Earnshaw, as reported in a Technician article after the Elite Eight loss.

After 2 seasons at Oklahoma, Roisin Gilheany (UTR 9.69) is transferring and has verbally committed to @PackWTennis for the fall of 2026. The 2026 All-American played at #1 doubles with an overall record of 38-15. Held the #1 national doubles ranking all spring.
