This was a good decision by Pop. Tracy, is not ready to be a starter for us. Local kid, who was good in high school, but doesn't have the skill to add value in a championship race. Hohman, even giving up weight is the better option.

And the hope is that Hohman and Ryan Jack (redshirting) can man the 133/141 next season. Pair that with Vince Robinson at 125 and you're solid at the lower weights.

Really good work by Hohman and Koy to limit two uneven matchups to decisions.

Time for State's hammers to get stuff done. If we can win 5, I like our chances with bonus points.

That is a **** effort from Fields and Scott. State doesn't have a takedown through four matches. That's unacceptable.

They got it right on review. Massive effort from Fishback against a guy who beat him twice last year

I won't be making the effort to watch the 197 bracket.

Alright, the legend of Vince Robinson, let's see what we've got tonight.

Tough loss. But like Ed Scott, you needed to go get something in the first period.

Would almost rather VT have the outright ACC dual title than have to share it with UNC too

Credit to VT. They used the portal well to fill the holes in their lineup from last year. Thats not really Pop's way, but may need a guy or two if we're going to improve.

Not our night tonight hopefully it lights a fire for the ACC tourney. Winning 3 of 10 doesn't cut it.

We should just forfeit 197 every match… how did it get so bad?

197 was a tough spot for State. The plan was for Trumble to go 197 and Trephan to go HWT. Trumble comes out of the redshirt year and decides late he's going to go HWT, forcing Trephan to transfer and State to have to throw someone out at 197 to fill the spot.

We talked about this a good bit towards the beginning of this thread.

Knop is 3 points better than a forfeit, for what its worth.

It is a credit to Pop that this is a down year for us. Co-Champs of the ACC.

State lacked aggression all season, and really struggled to get takedowns throughout the lineup.

To close out the regular season, seventh-ranked NC State wrestling (11-2, 5-1) fell to 10th-ranked Virginia Tech (9-2, 5-1) Friday night at Cassell Coliseum by a 21-10 score.

Despite the loss NC State still clinched a share of the ACC Regular Season title along with North Carolina and Virginia Tech. This marks the fourth year in a row that the Wolfpack either clinch at least a share or outright ownership over the title.

Featuring eight ranked matchups, the dual started at 141 lbs. Three bouts went into overtime and three bouts came down to just one point to determine a winner.

NC State was unable to get on the board, digging a 0-12 hole until Matty Singleton at 174 lbs came out with a huge major decision win. Singleton's commanding win was the only bonus point win of the night for either team.

Coming down to the final seconds of the bout, Dylan Fishback at 184 lbs followed up with a win of his own immediately after. After trailing to start the third period, Isaac Trumble secured his win at heavyweight with a third period takedown. Unfortunately, he was the last victory of the night for the Pack.

Both of these programs at the top of the league are known for their competitive home environments making it an extremely difficult place to wrestle in. NC State has not won in Blacksburg since 2019, which was a 17-16 criteria win. Virginia Tech has not won in Raleigh since 2016, which was only decided by five total team points.
