NC State softball (18-13) dropped a 4-2 decision to in-state foe Charlotte (18-12) on Tuesday evening at Dail Stadium, headlined by a two-hit night from Hannah Goodwin.

How it Happened
Charlotte scored one in the opening frame to take the lead after a triple by Ella Chancey drove in the leadoff batter.
NC State responded in the home half of the fourth with a two-run rocket by Madison Inscoe that brought Taylor Ensley home to move ahead 2-1. The homer was the first of the season for Inscoe.
The 49ers tied things at 2-2 in the top of the third after a double played one run.
Madison Inscoe's evening in the circle was complete after the third inning. She tallied two strikeouts in her three frames of work. Aisha Weixlmann entered the circle in the top of the fourth and inevitably took the loss.
Charlotte plated two in the top of the fourth after a sacrifice fly and a double allowed runners to score.
With one out in the bottom of the fourth, junior Hannah Goodwin doubled to right field to record her 96th career hit, she later tacked on the 97th of her tenure in the sixth.
With one out in the top of the fifth, NC State brought in Rylee Wyman to pitch. She helped keep the 49ers scoreless in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings

The Pack will hit the road for its fourth conference series of the year this weekend, as the Pack travels to Tallahassee, Fla., for a three-game set at 18th-ranked Florida State.
