Team won the ACC Regular Season Championship with the victory over Clemson today. They celebrated with the trophy at the conclusion of the meet. We've now beat a top 25 ranked Clemson twice this season. And it wasn't even close today. And it was a legitimate beat down. The difference was that Clemson had two girls fall on their vault landings, and two girls fall off the beam. They had to count one of each of those bad scores. We had one girl fall on beam and one girl fall on uneven bars, but didn't have to count either of those scores.

Shepard is REALLY good. She will definitely compete at nationals in the individual competition. And if Clemson was supposedly a legitimate ~20-25th ranked team, then this Wolfpack team is being underrated and should definitely be ranked in the top 25.

Big crowd at the meet today too. I would estimate around 2,500. Quite a few Clemson fans as well. It was an electric environment. The team deserved it.

Tonight's score of 197.575 was the 2nd highest score all-time in the 44 years of NC State gymnastics!

Also, I was looking at the current rankings (we are currently ranked #31 in the country), and if they perform and score like they did tonight that should put us in the ballpark of about the 15th to 20th best team in the country. I don't know what happened in the first 2 non-conference meets of the year (where they only scored 194.225 and 195.675 and took 4 losses), but this team has steadily and significantly improved over the 5 ACC meets following those opening two meets.

I'm not sure how the rankings work, but I suspect that the very low team scores (hopefully outliers) from those opening two meets must be dragging down our ranking. But if they perform as we have been here the last several meets and especially tonight against Clemson, they are easily one of the top 25 teams in the country.

The Pack posted season-high scores on vault, bars and beam with 197.575 ranking second all-time amongst NC State's team totals in 44 years of gymnastics.

New rankings have them at #24 nationally. In the post meet interview with the coach, the guy at Tuffy Talk mentioned that one of the low scores from early in the season could be dropped, I assume affecting the calculation of their ranking.

NC State gymnastics swept the ACC Weekly Awards after its record-breaking performance against Clemson on Saturday afternoon, as announced by the conference on Monday.

Emily Shepard was named ACC Gymnast of the Week for the fourth week in a row, while Chloe Negrete won her second ACC Specialist of the Week honor and Ashley Knight was dubbed ACC Newcomer of the Week for the second time this season.

As a team, the Wolfpack fired its second-highest score all-time and the highest team total of the Kim Landrus era against the Tigers, using a 197.575 to improve to 5-0 in its ACC slate while claiming the ACC Regular Season Championship in a 197.575-196.000 victory.

NC State's day was highlighted by an all-around score of 39.750 from Shepard which marked the best four-event total in program history. Shepard's all-around effort also set a new bar for the highest all-around score ever recorded by a gymnast from an ACC program, erasing the previous high of 39.725 that was posted by North Carolina's Courtney Bumpers in 2004.

Shepard tabbed a pair of new career highs on Saturday, with a 9.975 on bars and a 9.950 on beam during back-to-back events each creating new personal bests, with her bars score resulting in a solo first-place finish while the beam total landed her in a tie for first with Clemson's Rebecca Wells.

Shepard opened the afternoon with a 9.900 on vault, while later firing a 9.925 during the Pack's final rotation on floor that resulted in a pair of second-place results.

With five podium finishes and the all-around crown, Shepard became the first gymnast in program history to record a score of 9.9+ on all four events during the same meet, with the fifth-year senior now having accounted for nine scores of 9.9+ this season and a program-high 47 in her career.

Anchoring behind Shepard on vault, beam, and floor was Negrete who tabbed a pair of 9.9+ scores in her own right. Negrete won the floor title with a 9.950 during NC State's final rotation, while adding a 9.900 on beam that landed her in a tie for third place in the event. Negrete's day started with a 9.850 on vault, with the graduate having now earned eight scores of 9.9+ in 2024. This serves as Negrete's second ACC Specialist of the Week this year, while she claimed the inagural title after the Pack's season opener at Georgia and was recognized as NC State's first ACC Gymnast of the Week in program history after the Wolfpack's Jan. 19 win at North Carolina.

Knight fired the first 9.9+ score of her career on Saturday as well, with a 9.900 on floor setting a new personal best for the freshman. Knight additionally matched her career high during NC State's opening rotation on vault, with a 9.875 serving as the Wolfpack's second-highest score of the event. The Pack's 49.275 on vault was its best score on the event this season, marking one of three events the Wolfpack set a season high as a team on during Saturday's meet after NC State also registered a 49.450 on bars and a 49.500 on floor.

Shepard, Negrete, Knight, and the rest of the Wolfpack return to action for its final ACC meet of the regular season on Sunday, Feb. 25, with NC State set to travel to Pitt.

Sunday's tilt between the Wolfpack and Panthers is slated for a 4 p.m. start time, with the meet televised on the ACC Network.

The NC State gymnastics team returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 25, as the Wolfpack will travel to Pitt for its final ACC meet of the regular season.

Pitt enters Sunday's matchup having just dropped a dual meet at North Carolina, with the Panthers falling 196.650-196.150 to the Tar Heels. 196.150 is Pitt's second-highest team total of the year, with its best coming in its lone ACC win on Feb. 2 in a 196.525-194.875 win over North Carolina.

The Pack and Panthers met earlier this season in NC State's home opener, with the Wolfpack claiming its first win of the 2024 campaign in a 196.500-194.100 victory.

Sunday's contest will be the final nationally televised regular season meet for NC State, with the Wolfpack's four meets on the ACC Network the most of any team in the league. Fans can tune in on the ACC Network at 4 p.m. to watch NC State and Pitt face off in each team's final ACC matchup before the ACC Championships on Mar. 23.

The NC State gymnastics team completed a perfect ACC dual season on Sunday afternoon, wrapping up its ACC schedule with a 196.850-195.200 victory at Pitt to move to 6-0 in its league slate.

196.850 marked the Pack's best score on the road this season and its second-highest total of 2024. NC State's team total also registers as the seventh-highest in program history, and is the second-best score away from Reynolds Coliseum during the Kim Landrus era.

Landrus' squad saw three event titles on the day, with Ashley Knight matching her career-best score of 9.875 on vault en route to a first-place finish, Emily Shepard registering a 9.950 on bars to claim her 14th first-place result of the season, and Chloe Negrete ending the afternoon with a 9.900 on beam to take the event during the Pack's final rotation.

Shepard was additionally the lone all-around competitor of the day, with her four-event total of 39.500 securing her 26th podium finish of the year and her fifth all-around crown of 2024.

Bars (49.300)
The Wolfpack started its afternoon with a 49.300 on bars, highlighted by a 9.950 from Shepard who anchored the event for the Pack. Shepard's 9.950 followed a personal best 9.975 on bars last week, with Sunday's bar result marking her seventh-straight routine with a score of 9.9+, a run that stretched back to the third rotation of NC State's Feb. 11 dual meet against North Carolina.

The Pack's opening rotation was its best of the night, with 49.300 coming in as the second-highest bars score of the season for NC State and its best of the year on the road. Alexis Ortega, Madeline Reid, and Katie Harper each landed podium finishes for the Wolfpack as well, with Ortega taking a solo second-place finish at 9.875 and the duo of Reid and Harper tabbing a 9.850 that resulted in a four-way tie for third place.

A strong rotation by the Pack was led off by bars specialist Kailee Adomaites who accounted for NC State's final counted score of the rotation at 9.775. An impressive wire-to-wire night for the Wolfpack, NC State never counted a score lower than 9.775.

Vault (49.150)
Knight claimed a first-place finish on vault for the Wolfpack, with her second-straight score of 9.875 on the event. Like bars, the Pack counted four scores of 9.8+, with Negrete matching Krista Zultevicz at 9.825 to tie for third place and Shepard landing on the podium at 9.850.

Ortega rounded out the scoring effort on vault for the Wolfpack, tying her second-highest score on the event this season at 9.775.

Floor (49.225)
NC State only counted scores of 9.8+ in its third rotation, led by a pair of 9.875 marks from Shepard and Negrete that landed the fifth-year pairing on the podium in a four-way tie for second place.

Katya Edwards continued a strong sophomore campaign by matching her career-best total of 9.850, while Zultevicz added a 9.825 and Knight fired a 9.800.

Beam (49.175)
The Pack's afternoon ended on beam, where Negrete's 9.900 pushed both her total of first-place finishes and 9.9+ score this season to nine. Harper additionally worked her way onto the podium for the Wolfpack, eclipsing her previous career best with a new personal record of 9.875.

Shepard and Ortega continued strong campaigns on the beam with a 9.825 and 9.800, respectively, while Meg Adler led the event off with a 9.775.

The Pack enters Saturday's contest having completed a perfect ACC slate, securing a 6-0 league record in its last outing at Pitt. NC State posted its highest road score of the season on Sunday, Feb. 25, as the Pack left Pittsburgh with a 196.850-195.200 win over the Panthers.

Just its second quad meet of the 2024 campaign, NC State will meet former EAGL foe Temple for the first time since the two former conference opponents split leagues. The Pack also hosts the alma mater of its head coach, with Kim Landrus previously competing for Iowa State from 1994-97.
