By the way, I'm blown away at how much support this Clemson gymnastics program has gotten in their very first season. They had over 8,600 fans at their venue tonight. They already have 24.4k followers on their official Instagram account too....while we only have 19.2k for our program that's been around for decades. For comparison, we crush them in women's basketball Instagram followers (28.6k to 13.3k). Gymnastics must just be REALLY popular in South Carolina. Bizarre.

We might have a good shot at a sellout when we take on UNC next weekend (Sunday February 11th). I can't find an attendance figure for the home match last weekend against Pitt, but I was there and I would estimate it was around 3,500 to 4,000.livewolf said:

That is a brutal time right before the SB, probably won't help the attendance. Those matches are fun!
I wasn't even thinking of that, as I don't follow the NFL at all. But hopefully it won't have too big of an impact, with the meet at 4:00pm and the stupor bowl starting at 6:30pm. Also, the type of fan that goes to a gymnastics meet is not the same type that watches the NFL.livewolf said:

NC State gymnastics posted its highest road score of the year on Friday night, firing a 196.300 in a 196.300-195.600 victory over No. 20 Clemson.
The Pack's victory over the Tigers improved NC State to 3-0 in its ACC slate thus far, with the Wolfpack becoming the first team to defeat Clemson since the inception of the Tigers' program.
The night was highlighted by the Pack posting its highest floor score of the year in its third rotation at 49.350, while Emily Shepard captured the all-around crown with a four-event total of 39.350.
Bars (49.050)
NC State's evening started off on bars where the Wolfpack were led by Shepard's 9.850. Shepard ended the night in a three-way tie for first-place in the event, with Alexis Ortega following immediately behind in fourth place with a 9.825.
The Pack's duo of freshmen, Katie Harper and Elle Hadrick, each fired a 9.800, while the scoring effort was rounded out by a 9.775 from bars specialist Peyton Childs.
Vault (49.050)
NC State's second event score of 49.050 came on vault during its second rotation, with Chloe Negrete and Ashley Knight each bringing home a podium finish for the Wolfpack. Negrete's 9.875 marked her seventh first-place finish of the year, while a 9.850 from Knight landed the freshman in a tie for second place. Shepard's all-around effort was aided by a 9.800, while a 9.775 from Krista Zultevicz added to the Pack's vault tally as well. A pair of 9.750 scores from Ortega and Meg Adler completed the Pack's vault final with NC State set to head to floor in its third rotation.

The Wolfpack's best floor score of the season saw Shepard and Negrete each use a 9.900 to land a third-place podium finish. Negrete has now completed four-straight floor scores of 9.9+, with Shepard extending her program record of 9.9+ totals to 41.
Every score the Pack counted on floor was at 9.825 or higher, led off with a 9.825 from Hadrick while Negrete 9.900 came from the anchor position. Knight fired a new career-best score with a 9.875, while Zultevicz continued a strong senior campaign on floor with a 9.850.
Beam (48.850)
NC State ended its night on beam where it clinched its third-straight dual meet victory. Negrete's 9.825 from the anchor position led the way for the Wolfpack while a pair of 9.800 marks from fifth-year competitors Ortega and Shepard improved the Pack's total. Harper completed the first routine of her career on beam, tabbing a counted score of 9.725. Harper's beam sequence was one of seven routines for NC State on Friday night completed by a freshman, an impressive trend that looks to continue for the Wolfpack. NC State's beam score was completed by a pair of 9.700 marks from Adler and beam specialist Macy Jennings.
Despite beam being the Pack's lowest score of the night, the Pack clinched its third-straight ACC win during the event before its last routine began.

NC State gymnastics took over Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, South Carolina, defeating the No. 20 Tigers 196.300-195.600. This was the first meeting between the two programs and the Pack came away with the upset victory over the Tigers.
The matchup between NC State (3-4, 3-0) and Clemson (3-1, 2-1) was broadcasted on ACC Network with the Tigers ranked in the top 25 and undefeated, but NC State had something to prove to the NCAA gymnastics world. Graduate students Chloe Negrete, Emily Shepherd and Alexis Ortega dominated all around the gym and led their team to victory.
The red-and-white started out on the uneven bars while the Tigers took on the vault. All six NC State gymnasts scored 9.725 or above, with Sheperd taking the cake with a 9.850 and followed closely by Ortega with a 9.825. Two Clemson players tied the 9.850, robbing Shepherd of the event title.
Up next, the Pack took on the vault and Negrete took the event title with a 9.875. Freshman Ashley Knight followed the veteran with an 8.500, capping off an impressive week from the rookie. Knight was crowned the ACC Newcomer of the Week the first in NC State history. The freshman has become a staple for the Pack, competing in the vault and floor events at all of the red-and-white's meets so far this season.

Sophomore Meg Adler, junior Macy Jennings, freshman Katie Harper and Ortega all put up solid performances on the beam, enough for Sheperd to take the stand and only need a 9.400 to win the meet. Shepherd did that and more, finishing with a 9.800 and was followed up by Negrete with a 9.825, securing the upset over the Tigers.
Despite not leading until the third rotation, the Pack looked calm and collected throughout all the events. Shepherd was crowned ACC Gymnast of the Week the same day as Knight's awarding, becoming the third and fourth NC State weekly honor this season.

I'm just speculating, but similar to how the wrestling match against unc last night sold out, I think there's a good chance that the home gymnastics meet against unc next weekend (Sunday February 11th @ 4:00 pm) will also sell out. So if anyone is planning on going, you might want to order your ticket(s) online ASAP, instead of taking a chance at being able to buy a ticket at the door.

North Carolina enters Sunday's matinee having dropped three-straight ACC meets, with its most recent outing resulting in a 194.875 at Pitt on Feb. 2. The Tar Heels' season-high score came when NC State and North Carolina last met, with the Heels' 195.325 highlighted by a season-high beam score of 48.900.

NC State gymnastics improved to 4-0 in the ACC on Sunday afternoon as a season-high 196.725 led the Wolfpack to a 196.725-194.925 victory over in-state foe North Carolina.
The Pack claimed sole possession of all four individual titles on each event, three of which came from Emily Shepard. Shepard's outstanding all-around performance resulted in a 39.525 four-event total that captured the all-around crown, her third of the Pack's 2024 campaign.
The matinee meet was highlighted by a 49.400 on beam that included a trio of 9.9+ scores and two career highs from Macy Jennings and Alexis Ortega. 49.400 is tied for fifth-highest all-time on beam for the Wolfpack and marks just the second time since 2014 that NC State has scored higher than 49.300 on beam.
Vault (49.100)
NC State's afternoon started on vault where the Wolfpack was led by a pair of 9.850 scores from Shepard and Ashley Knight, which was enough to split the event champion honors. Chloe Negrete and Krista Zultevicz each additionally registered scores of 9.8+, with Negrete anchoring at 9.800 and Zultevicz tabbing a 9.825. A strong first rotation by the Wolfpack was completed by a 9.775 from Ortega in her first of three events.

Jennings' 9.900 total was the first score of 9.900 in her career, with the junior now having conducted 33 routines for the Wolfpack, 31 of which have come on beam. The Pack's evening came to a close on floor where the Wolfpack clinched its fourth-straight dual-meet victory and its fourth-straight defeat of the Tar Heels. It was once again Shepard who claimed honors as individual champion, the lone gymnast of the night to record a 9.9+ on floor with a 9.900. Zultevicz followed just behind Shepard with a 9.875, enough to earn her third podium finish of the season after adding one on vault as well earlier in the meet. Like fellow sophomore Reid, Katya Edwards made her collegiate debut for the Wolfpack with hers coming on floor. Edwards additionally had a strong showing, firing a 9.850 that was later matched by Negrete from the anchor position. Knight closed out NC State's scoring effort with a 9.800, resulting in a 49.275 in the Pack's final rotation that matched its season-highest floor total of the year and its highest in the event in Reynolds Coliseum this year.

The Pack claimed sole possession of all four individual titles on each event, three of which came from Emily Shepard. Shepard's outstanding all-around performance resulted in a 39.525 four-event total that captured the all-around crown, her third of the Pack's 2024 campaign.
The matinee meet was highlighted by a 49.400 on beam that included a trio of 9.9+ scores and two career highs from Macy Jennings and Alexis Ortega. 49.400 is tied for fifth-highest all-time on beam for the Wolfpack and marks just the second time since 2014 that NC State has scored higher than 49.300 on beam.
Vault (49.100)
NC State's afternoon started on vault where the Wolfpack was led by a pair of 9.850 scores from Shepard and Ashley Knight, which was enough to split the event champion honors. Chloe Negrete and Krista Zultevicz each additionally registered scores of 9.8+, with Negrete anchoring at 9.800 and Zultevicz tabbing a 9.825. A strong first rotation by the Wolfpack was completed by a 9.775 from Ortega in her first of three events.
Bars (48.950)
Shepard once again claimed the individual title on bars with a meet-high 9.875. Ortega's penultimate score resulted in a 9.800 that matched bars specialist Peyton Childs, while Katie Harper fired a 9.750. Madeline Reid made her competitive debut for the Wolfpack in NC State's second rotation, tabbing the first counted score of her career with a 9.725 from the third lineup spot.
Beam (49.400)
NC State's beam score was its best of any single rotation this season for the Wolfpack, eclipsing its previous mark of a 49.375 on floor set be the Pack at Clemson on Feb. 2. Ortega, Jennings, and Shepard each posted scores of 9.9+, with Ortega and Jennings each setting a new career best with a 9.925 and a 9.900, respectively. Jennings' 9.900 total was the first score of 9.900 in her career, with the junior now having conducted 33 routines for the Wolfpack, 31 of which have come on beam. Chloe Negrete continued to build NC State's score with a 9.850 in the anchor position, while Meg Adler tabbed a 9.825 from the leadoff spot to start the spark for the Wolfpack.
Floor (49.275)
The Pack's evening came to a close on floor where the Wolfpack clinched its fourth-straight dual-meet victory and its fourth-straight defeat of the Tar Heels. It was once again Shepard who claimed honors as individual champion, the lone gymnast of the night to record a 9.9+ on floor with a 9.900. Zultevicz followed just behind Shepard with a 9.875, enough to earn her third podium finish of the season after adding one on vault as well earlier in the meet. Like fellow sophomore Reid, Katya Edwards made her collegiate debut for the Wolfpack with hers coming on floor. Edwards additionally had a strong showing, firing a 9.850 that was later matched by Negrete from the anchor position. Knight closed out NC State's scoring effort with a 9.800, resulting in a 49.275 in the Pack's final rotation that matched its season-highest floor total of the year and its highest in the event in Reynolds Coliseum this year.

She definitely seems to really love the school/program, and is very outspoken about it. You'll see her commenting a lot on Instagram posts on the official gymnastics account. For those who don't know, Shepard is our best gymnast and this is her last season I believe, as she is a graduate student.Wolfer79 said:

I saw on the GoPack results that there were 2,013 fans in attendance at the unc meet yesterday. I was there, and was hoping for a bigger crowd than that. Maybe the Stupid Bowl had kept away some people, and it would have been a bigger crowd if not for that game.
Hopefully we can get it closer to a sellout at the meet this coming Saturday @ 4:00pm against Clemson, as Clemson is the 2nd best team in the ACC (behind us), and if we win this we have the inside track to the regular season championship (if that is an official thing). We already beat Clemson earlier in the season, and now have the home gym advantage, so I expect us to win. By the way, about 3/4 of the lower level seating is removed for a gymnastics meet, so I would guess that a sellout would be in the ballpark of 4,000.

NC State enters Saturday's matchup coming off its best performance of the season, with the Pack firing a season-high 196.725 on Feb. 11 in a 196.725-194.925 win over in-state foe North Carolina.
The Wolfpack posted its best score of any rotation this season on beam against the Tar Heels, tabbing three scores of 9.9+ during the event en route to a 49.400 during its third rotation.
Just a week before its win over the Tar Heels, the Pack fired a season-high floor score at Clemson in the first-ever meeting between the Wolfpack and Tigers.
NC State used a 39.350 score on floor to hand Clemson its first loss in program history, leaving Littlejohn Coliseum with a 196.300-195.600 victory over the Tigers.
As a result of the Pack's Feb. 2 win at Clemson, NC State currently resides as the only undefeated team in the ACC with a record of 4-0. Additionally, a Wolfpack win over the Tigers on Saturday would clinch the league's regular season championship, with NC State potentially becoming the first-ever program to claim the regular season crown.
Tickets for Saturday's meet can be purchased through calling the NC State ticket office at (919) 865-1510 or on GoPack.com, as well as at the door upon admission.
For those who cannot attend, the meet will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra through the WatchESPN app.
