Opening its 2022 conference slate on the road, NC State men's soccer (2-1-1, 0-1-0 ACC) came up short 2-0 to fourth-ranked Wake Forest (5-0-0, 1-0-0 ACC) on Saturday night.

Prior to the match, the Wolfpack had secured points with draws in each of its last two matches against the Demon Deacons. The outing marked NC State's 18th against a top-five opponent in six seasons of the George Kiefer era.

Making his third start of the season in goal, sophomore keeper Lucas Hatsios set a new career high in saves with six on the night.

After a red card was assessed to Wolfpack defender Alex Bautista in the 15th minute, the team played down a man for the final 75 minutes of the game. That card was shown immediately after a caution on Calem Tommy that resulted in a penalty kick for Wake Forest, and the Demon Deacons converted on that shot to go up 1-0 with 30:16 left in the first half.

NC State managed to weather through the early setback, not giving up another goal on the remaining eight first-half shots by the Demon Deacons. Hatsios made three of his saves in the opening 45 minutes, and the Pack kept pressure on the ball with a few timely deflections to stay within striking distance headed into the second half.

Wake scored its second goal in the 79th minute, and NC State was not able to generate a score after that.

The Wolfpack returns home on Tuesday, Sept. 13 for a nationally-televised match against visiting James Madison. The game is set for an 8 p.m. start on the ACC Network.

Wolfpack men's soccer (2-1-1, 0-1-0 ACC) returns home to Dail Soccer Stadium on Tuesday night to host a nationally-televised non-conference matchup against James Madison (1-3-0). Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. on the ACC Network.

SERIES HISTORY (NC State trails 2-3-1)
Tuesday marks the seventh overall meeting between NC State and James Madison.
The teams face off in non-conference play for the second season in a row after last meeting nearly a year ago on Sept. 14, 2021. The Wolfpack won that match, also played on its home field, by a 2-1 score with both of its goals scored by Jamie Smith off of set pieces.
JMU won each of the first three matchups between the teams in a series that dates back to 1979. The Wolfpack, however, has come away with points in each of the last three meetings.
NC State has hosted the Dukes inside Dail Stadium three times prior to Tuesday's match. The Wolfpack's win against James Madison in 2021 marked its first time coming away with a victory in a home game against the Dukes.

NC State men's soccer (2-2-1) dropped a hard-fought battle with visiting James Madison (2-3-0) as it fell 1-0 at Dail Soccer Stadium on Tuesday night.

Returning home for the first time in two weeks, the Wolfpack battled to the final minute and managed to generate some good scoring opportunities throughout the game. The squads both tallied 11 shots apiece, and the possession advantage went in favor of NC State, but the Dukes came away with the win courtesy of a 73rd minute score.

NC State and JMU went into the halftime break knotted at zero, and the Wolfpack held a 6-5 edge in shots after the opening period. Wolfpack goalkeeper Win Ellis, earning his second starting nod of the year, made a save early in the first half and a pair in the first five minutes of the second half to keep the game scoreless.

The Wolfpack nearly broke the deadlock with under 20 minutes remaining as Junior Nare (71') had a close-range shot deflected and Conor Kelly (72') had a strike on target stopped by JMU's keeper.

The Dukes, however, notched the game winner in the 73rd minute. After taking possession off an NC State throw in, Kevin Larsson drove his way from around midfield to the top of the box where he fed it to Cameron Arnold who slipped through the Pack's back line for the score.

NC State controlled possession the rest of the way but was unable to get on the board. In addition to Kelly's 72nd minute shot, Luke Hille got one of his four shots on frame in the 33rd minute, but that was also saved by JMU.

The Wolfpack takes on 10th-ranked Pitt on the road Friday night before returning to Raleigh for three-straight home matches. The contest is set for a 7 p.m. start on ACCNX.

Before returning home for three-straight matches, NC State men's soccer (2-2-1, 0-1-0 ACC) continues league action on the road on Friday night with a trip to 10th-ranked Pitt (4-1-0, 1-0-0 ACC). The game is set to kick off at 7 p.m. on ACCNX.

SERIES HISTORY (Series tied at 3-3-1)
Friday marks the eighth overall meeting between NC State and Pitt.
The teams are set to face off for the first time since Nov. 10, 2019.
That most recent matchup occurred in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals, with the Panthers winning by a 2-1 score after notching the golden goal in the 94th minute.
Each of the last two meetings between NC State and Pitt have occurred on the Panthers' home field. The Wolfpack is 0-3-1 when playing on the road against Pitt.
The last time the two squads faced off during the regular season was Sept. 25, 2018. Pitt took that match by a 3-1 tally despite the Pack taking an early lead on a Brad Sweeney free kick in the sixth minute.

NC State men's soccer's conference struggles continued in the team's 3-0 loss to No. 10 Pittsburgh on the road. In a similar fashion to the squad's 2-0 loss at Wake Forest last week, the Pack was simply outclassed by a higher-tier ACC opponent.

Playing its second top-10 league foe in as many ACC matches this season, the NC State men's soccer team (2-3-1, 0-2-0 ACC) fell 3-0 in a Friday night road match at Pitt (5-1-0, 2-0-0 ACC).

The Wolfpack kept the Panthers off the board in the first half with a solid defensive effort. NC State maintained good pressure on Pitt, and a pair of first-half saves by goalkeeper Lucas Hatsios ensured the 0-0 stalemate after 45 minutes.

Hatsios made a total of five saves on the night as NC State held its own at another tough ACC venue.

Pitt struck first early in the second half (47') after earning a free kick just outside the right side of the box. Josh Luchini made a clean connection with a header that went into the bottom center of the net. Luchini struck again on another header in the 69th minute, and Lucas Rosa scored directly off a free kick at the top of the box in the 85th minute.

One of NC State's best looks came off a corner kick, just minutes after Pitt's second goal. Wolfpack freshman Calem Tommy got a close-range strike off of the set piece feed, but Pitt's keeper Joe van der Sar made the kick save to keep NC State off the board.

The Pack returns home for three-straight home matches, with the first of that stint set for Friday, Sept. 23 against Virginia Tech. That game against the Hokies is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. from Dail Soccer Stadium and will be broadcast live on ACCNX.

SERIES HISTORY (NC State leads 15-9-1)

NC State and Virginia Tech will face off for the first time since the 2018 campaign. That Sept. 21, 2018 match ended 1-0 in favor of the Pack in what was then a top-20 matchup, with Tanner Roberts scoring in the 55th minute.

Wolfpack forward Luke Hille secured the first goal of his sophomore campaign to lead NC State men's soccer (3-3-1, 1-2-0 ACC) to the 1-0 victory over visiting Virginia Tech (1-6-1, 0-3-0 ACC) in the team's ACC home opener.

The Wolfpack picked up its first league win of the 2022 campaign in front of a home crowd of 1,691. This match was the team's second crowd of 1,500+ this season and stands as the fourth-highest attended game in six seasons of the George Kiefer era.

Hille opened his scoring account for the season in the 31st minute with a beauty of a header into the left side of the net. NC State earned a free kick, and Conor Kelly sent a beautiful ball into the box that Hille was able to flick in past Virginia Tech's keeper.

The assist marked the 11th point of the season for Kelly, who netted five goals in the Pack's first three matches.

The Wolfpack owned the edge in possession and prevented the Hokies from generating any scoring opportunities in the opening half. The squad out-shot Virginia Tech 4-0 in the first 45 minutes and did not allow the Hokies to tally a shot until the 48th minute. Both teams found a few additional chances to put the ball in the back of the net in the second half, but Hille's 31st-minute goal remained the only score.

NC State goalkeeper Lucas Hatsios and senior defender Kendall Edwards preserved the Pack's lead in the 65th minute, making a joint save at the goal line, and Hatsios also made a save in the 89th minute in a scrum in front of the net.

Hatsios' shutout was his second of the year.

NC State will take advantage of another week between games as it preps for next Friday's home match against Louisville. That Sept. 30 contest is set for a 7 p.m. start on ACCNX.

The Wolfpack men's soccer team (3-3-1, 1-2-0 ACC) continues its home stretch with a Friday afternoon matchup against 15th-ranked Louisville (5-2-2, 1-1-1 ACC). Kick-off is set for 12 p.m. from Dail Soccer Stadium, and the match will be broadcast live on ACCNX.

SERIES HISTORY (Series tied 4-4-2)
Friday marks the 11th overall meeting between NC State and Louisville. The teams first met during the 1997 campaign and have faced off at least once a year since 2014.
The Cardinals are on a two-game winning streak in the series. Louisville picked up a 2-1 win on Oct. 22, 2021 and also beat the Pack 3-0 on NC State's home field in March of 2021.
NC State's last win against Louisville was on Sept. 27, 2019 as the team secured a 2-1 road victory over the then 17th-ranked Cardinals.
The Wolfpack is 2-2-1 when playing against the Cardinals at home. NC State has not won a home match against Louisville since a 2-1 decision on Oct. 3, 2014.

In a sluggish battle plagued by adverse weather conditions, NC State men's soccer fell at home to the No. 15 Louisville Cardinals 1-0 on Friday, Sept. 30.

After a scoreless first half for both sides, the Cardinals (6-2-2, 2-1-1 ACC) were able to get out to a 1-0 lead in the 59th minute. And despite the Wolfpack (3-4-1, 1-3 ACC) upping its intensity and pressure on the Louisville defense in the second half, the Cardinals were able to capture their third win from their last four matches at Dail Soccer Field.

Pouring rain and heavy winds played a major part in the outcome, rendering the field nearly unplayable, especially in the second half. With the water-logged pitch making it a challenge to dribble and pass the ball, both sides had trouble navigating the conditions, resulting in players slipping and sliding all over the field. It was a physical match through and through, with 18 total fouls called.

After a relatively uneventful first half, the latter 45 brought much more action. With field conditions rapidly deteriorating due to the persistent rainfall, multiple rain delays were taken in an attempt to clear the pitch. In the midst of all that, Louisville struck in the 59th minute, scoring the only goal of the match.

The Cardinal goal seemed to light a fire under the Pack however, as it displayed an increased level of intensity once it faced the 1-0 deficit. Multiple opportunities were created and nearly scored on, but the Louisville defense and water-logged field had other ideas.

Offensive pressure generated by sophomore forward Luke Hille, graduate midfielder Conor Kelly and graduate defender Alex Bautista threatened the Cardinal defense, but the Pack wasn't able to take any quality shots on goal despite progressing the ball down the field effectively.

With the field conditions becoming more of a factor as time ticked down, NC State desperately looked for the equalizer. Even though it tallied five shots in the second half, the Pack only registered one on goal across the whole 90, ultimately failing to find the back of the net.

With the loss, the red-and-white move to 1-3 in conference play and will look to follow through on its scoring opportunities, and stay drier, in its future matchups.

Next for the Pack is a non conference match against High Point University. Kickoff against the Panthers is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m.

The NC State men's soccer team (3-4-1, 1-3-0 ACC) battled hard against visiting Louisville (6-2-2, 2-1-1 ACC) but ultimately fell short by a 1-0 score to the 15th-ranked Cardinals on Friday afternoon.

The squads faced off in rainy and windy conditions in what was the 11th overall meeting between the Wolfpack and the Cardinals. The all-time series was even entering Friday's match.

NC State got out-shot in the first half, but the Pack did a great job of keeping Louisville off the board as the teams went to halftime knotted at zero.

The Cardinals scored their lone goal in the 59th minute. Sander Roed made a cross from left to right where Patrick Ajdukiewicz was waiting in the right corner of the box. Ajdukiewicz sent a high ball back to the middle where David Boccuzzo headed it just inside the right post.

The Wolfpack held an edge in shots (5-3) and time of possession in the second half but was unable to get on the board. NC State sophomore forward Luke Hille led his team with three shot attempts, one of which was saved by Louisville keeper Ryan Troutman in the 77th minute. Wolfpack goalie Lucas Hatsios made a diving save just a minute and a half later to prevent Louisville from extending its lead, but both of NC State could not convert its final pair of shots in the last 10 minutes into a score.

The NC State men's soccer squad has dropped all but one game since starting ACC play. After beating Virginia Tech, three losses have come against ranked ACC teams in its past five matches.

The Wolfpack (3-4-1, 1-3 ACC) remained undefeated in its first four nonconference games, but dropped below .500 overall after entering ACC play. This is generally due to NC State's difficult conference schedule, as the Wolfpack has faced two top-10 matchups and a top-15 club thus far.

In its last five games, the Wolfpack only scored once, which was the game-winning goal against Virginia Tech (1-8-1, 0-4 ACC). The lone goal was scored by sophomore forward Luke Hille, who has consistently had around three shots in the last four games.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lucas Hatsios has started in four of the five previous games, including the win against the Hokies. He allowed two goals against No. 4 Wake Forest (9-1, 3-1 ACC) while saving six shots. He also saved five shots in the 3-0 loss to No. 10 Pitt (5-3-1, 2-2 ACC).

Senior goalie Windham Ellis started against James Madison (3-6-1) and had five saves while only allowing one goal. The high volume of shots against these two goalies is alarming, but the offensive production of one goal in five games is far more concerning.

NC State will stay in Raleigh to host High Point (4-2-3) in a nonconference game. The next ACC matchup for the Wolfpack will be a test against Boston College on the road.

SERIES HISTORY (NC State leads 11-4-1)
Tuesday marks the 17th overall meeting between NC State and High Point. The teams met for the first time during the 1975 season.
The match marks the second season in a row that NC State faces High Point. Last year's Oct. 12, 2021 meeting was the first between the two teams in the George Kiefer era.
The Wolfpack won last season's matchup by a 4-0 score with Kuda Muskwe (2), Alex Hernandez (1) and Pablo Pedregosa (1) each finding the back of the net. NC State out-shot High Point 13-5 in the

Thanks to a pair of goals on each side of the halftime break, NC State men's soccer (4-4-1) picked up a midweek win over visiting High Point (4-3-3) with a 2-0 decision over the Panthers on Tuesday night.

Will Buete (42') and Calem Tommy (52') were the two goal scorers for the Wolfpack as NC State handed High Point its first loss since Sept. 6. The Pack has beat the Panthers in back-to-back seasons and increased its lead in the all-time series between the squads to 12-4-1.

NC State generated a couple of quality shots in the first half before Buete tallied the first goal of his Wolfpack career from the penalty stripe. Junior Nare was taken down inside the box to generate the attempt, and Buete converted with a low ball to the bottom right corner.

The Pack's second-half goal came with its fair share of dramatics as well with Tommy in the right place to finish on a scrum in front of the net. The goal ultimately came off a free kick from nearly midfield that Kendall Edwards settled four yards out to keep the play alive. Pablo Pedregosa got the initial shot off, one that went off the right post, but Tommy put it away on the rebound for his second score of the season.

Making his seventh appearance of the season, goalkeeper Lucas Hatsios made three saves for his third clean sheet and the team's fourth shutout of the year. NC State's formidable back line played a huge role in keeping the Panthers off the board. That included a stop on the goal line by senior defender Kendall Edwards, who prevented a Panther goal in the 50th minute just shortly before the Pack's second score of the night.

The Wolfpack hits the road for the first time in three weeks as it travels to Boston College on Friday, Oct. 7. The conference clash is set to kick off at 7 p.m. from Chestnut Hill, Mass., and will be broadcast live on ACCNX.

NC State men's soccer (4-5-2) secured a point in Tuesday night's road match at College of Charleston (4-4-4) as the teams ended the non-conference face-off in a 0-0 draw.

The shutout marked the fifth of the season for the Wolfpack squad. Sophomore goalkeeper Lucas Hatsios has now been responsible for four of those clean sheets, as he made saves on all three of the Cougars' shots on goal in the match.

The Pack controlled the majority of the match, owning 60 percent of the possession and firing off 11 shots to the Cougars' five.

NC State and College of Charleston went to the halftime break even with no score. In the opening 45 minutes, the Wolfpack out-shot the Cougars by a 6-4 margin. The teams each had two shots on target in the first half, and Wolfpack sophomore Luke Hille also came close to opening it up in the 21st minute with a close-range, left-footed strike from 12 yards out that went off the crossbar.

The story was similar in the second half with NC State allowing just one College of Charleston shot in the latter period. Junior Nare came up with another good attempt, knocking down a cross and ripping a shot to the upper middle of the goal that was knocked away by the Cougar keeper.

NC State will play its final three home games of the 2022 regular season coming up in a row. The Pack kicks off that stretch on Friday, Oct. 14 with an 8 p.m. nationally-televised matchup against rival North Carolina.

Playing in front of the second-largest home crowd in the George Kiefer era, NC State men's soccer (4-5-3, 1-4-1 ACC) earned another point in the conference standings with a 2-2 draw against rival North Carolina (6-3-3, 2-2-2 ACC) on Friday evening.

The Pack's home match, which occurred in front of 1,939 fans and was televised nationally, marked the team's second time this season picking up points against an ACC foe. Conor Kelly put together a four-point night with a goal (13') and an assist, and defender Pablo Pedregosa tallied the first score of his senior campaign (40') to account for NC State's second tally in the match.

Each team scored their first goal of the night on free kicks from just outside their respective boxes. Kelly netted his directly off the set piece in the 13th minute with a spinning strike that beat out UNC's goalkeeper Andrew Cordes.

UNC knotted the score six minutes later with NC State goalie Lucas Hatsios making the save on Ernest Bawa's free kick strike but Til Zinnhardt immediately putting away the rebound.

Pedregosa's goal sent the Wolfpack into the break with the lead. His was also off a set piece, with Kelly delivering a ball from the left sideline that went straight to Pedregosa for the easy header.

From there, NC State's lead stood for nearly 30 minutes, but UNC netted the equalizer in the 64th minute courtesy of a shouldered down ball by Bawa.

Hatsios kept the Heels from scoring again just minutes later with his second save of the outing, and NC State registered another three shots on target in the final 21 minutes of the match but did not manage to get back in front. The Pack owned the advantage in shots (10-7) and shots on goal (7-4).

NC State closes out the non-conference portion of its regular-season slate at home on Tuesday, Oct. 18 when it hosts William & Mary. That game is set for a 7 p.m. kick off from Dail Soccer Stadium and will be aired live on the ACCNX.

SERIES HISTORY (NC State trails 6-4-1)
Tuesday marks the 12th overall meeting between NC State and William & Mary. This will be the fifth time in the last six seasons that the squads will face each other.
The Wolfpack last took on the Tribe at home on Oct. 19, 2021 in what was also the team's final non-conference match of that regular season. William & Mary came away with the 1-0 win after Nathan Messer scored on the team's first look in the 55th minute.
Last season's meeting marked the first win for the Tribe on the Pack's home field. NC State is 4-1-0 all-time at home when hosting William & Mary.

In a night that was bookended by Wolfpack scores, Luke Hille scored the game winner in the 87th minute to secure a 2-1 NC State men's soccer (5-5-3) victory over visiting William & Mary (4-4-6).

The match marked the last non-conference fixture for the Wolfpack during the 2022 regular season. NC State went 4-1-2 in its out-of-league contests this season as it heads into its final two ACC matchups before postseason play begins.

Hille notched the go-ahead goal with under 3:40 remaining in the game off a perfect ball from teammate Calem Tommy. Tommy raced down the right sideline, playing through a tackle to take the ball to the corner. He was able to settle his dribble to serve up a cross through to Hille for the header.

The score came after nearly 60 minutes of scoreless battling between NC State and William & Mary. Wolfpack midfielder Conor Kelly broke open the game early with a 12th minute goal, benefitting from a deflected pass through the box and weaving past the Tribe defenders to put it away. William & Mary then answered back in the 18th minute with a goal from Jack Crocco to bring the score to 1-1 where it would stay until Hille's 87th-minute game winner.

Hille's second-half goal was his second of his sophomore season as he joins Tommy and Kelly as the Pack's three multi-goal scorers this year. Kelly bumped his scoring total to seven and has now scored in back-to-back games.

NC State managed to put a lot of offensive pressure on William & Mary with its 12 strikes marking the third-highest shot total of the season. The Pack forced Tribe goalkeeper Danilo Nikcevic into five saves and also limited William & Mary to just three shots in each half.

Wolfpack keeper Lucas Hatsios made three saves of his own, with all three coming after William & Mary's first goal to keep the Tribe from capitalizing again.

NC State will host its final home game of the 2022 campaign on Saturday, Oct. 22 as it takes on fourth-ranked Syracuse. The match is set for a 7 p.m. start on ACCNX, and the team will honor its 2022 senior class prior to the start of the game.

SERIES HISTORY (NC State trails 3-5-3)
Saturday marks the 12th overall meeting between NC State and Syracuse. The teams have played at least once every season since 2013.
The teams last met in upstate New York on Oct. 8, 2021 for a match that ended in a scoreless draw. The Wolfpack played down a man for the final 34 minutes of the double overtime outing but kept Syracuse off the board.
NC State has beat Syracuse in two of the teams' five meetings during the Kiefer era. The Wolfpack is 2-1-2 against the Orange since 2017, and four of those five matches have been decided by one goal or less.
The Pack is looking for its first win against Syracuse inside Dail Soccer Stadium. The team is 1-1-2 in home matches against the Orange, but the sole victory occurred during the spring portion of the 2020-21 campaign in a match that was played at Cary Soccer Park.

NC State men's soccer (5-5-4, 1-4-2 ACC) put together a solid result in its final home ACC match of the season as it tied 1-1 with fourth-ranked Syracuse (12-2-2, 5-1-0) on Friday night.

The match marked the Wolfpack's third against a top-10 opponent this season, and the team became just the fourth to earn a point against the Orange in 2022. NC State has now come away with a draw against Syracuse in back-to-back seasons.

The Pack's performance against one of the nation's best squads was highlighted by a career-high eight saves from sophomore goalkeeper Lucas Hatsios. His previous career-best mark was six against Wake Forest earlier this season, and Hatsios played a huge role in preventing Syracuse from ever jumping in front and helping earn his team a valuable point in conference play.

Noe Cabezas was the goal scorer for NC State, finding the back of the net in the 51st minute for his first of the year. Henrique Santos was credited with the assist after being tackled from behind while making the pass over to Cabezas who took advantage of the play-on with a strike from outside the box.

The goal put the Wolfpack up 1-0 over the Orange, but it took Syracuse just two minutes to find the equalizer. Noah Singelmann crossed a ball from deep in the right corner that bent into the box and went off a Wolfpack defender.

Hatsios went on to make four saves the rest of the outing to ensure that the score remained tied. NC State got a few more looks of its own down the stretch in the second half, but none were on target.

Prior to the match, the program celebrated the careers of six members of the Class of 2022 - Declan Brose, Kendall Edwards, Win Ellis, Conor Kelly, Jared Miller and Pablo Pedregosa.

In an extremely hard-fought senior night matchup, NC State men's soccer tied the No. 4 Syracuse Orange 1-1 on Saturday, Oct. 22 at Dail Soccer Field.

Prior to the start of the game, the Wolfpack took a few minutes to celebrate its six graduating seniors: midfielder Declan Brose, defender Kendall Edwards, goalkeeper Windham Ellis, forward Jared Miller, midfielder Conor Kelly and defender Pablo Pedregosa. These players will be sorely missed, particularly Kelly, Pedregosa and Edwards, who have started all 14 of the Pack's games this season.

Against Syracuse (12-2-2, 5-1-1 ACC), the Wolfpack (5-5-4, 1-4-1 ACC) proved its ability to hold its own against a ranked opponent. The Orange entered the match on a four-game win streak, including two against ranked foes, and likely was not expecting the challenge that NC State posed given that the Wolfpack has struggled to record a win in the ACC while Syracuse has dominated the conference.

In the first half of Saturday's game, the Pack was outshot by Syracuse 13-1, though neither team managed to record a goal. The Orange used its speed and strength to keep the Wolfpack on the defensive end for the majority of the half and prevent NC State from creating quality scoring opportunities. Despite Syracuse's aggressive offensive attack, the red-and-white put on a solid defensive performance that kept the Orange out of the goal.

"We did really well on the defensive end," said sophomore goalkeeper Lucas Hatsios. "The two guys we looked at when they were on the field together, we really clamped them off."

Hatsios led the Wolfpack's defensive effort, recording an impressive career-high eight saves, four in each half of the game. Despite 20 shots from the Orange over the course of the match, eight of which were on goal, Syracuse could not find a way past a very resilient NC State squad.

In the second half of the game, the red-and-white came out with a new burst of energy, seeming to have gained much more confidence in its ability to compete with a ranked Syracuse team. The Pack controlled the ball offensively much more often than in the previous half, and eventually its hard work paid off.

In the 51st minute, sophomore midfielder Noe Cabezas scored his first goal of the season off of an assist from sophomore forward Henrique Santos. Cabeza's goal came on the first shot of the half and only the Pack's second of the game.
The Orange responded by netting a goal of its own just two minutes later, tying the game 1-1. Despite each team's best efforts, neither one was able to score another goal and come away with a victory.

Syracuse played an extremely rough game, recording a total of 14 fouls as compared to NC State's two, but the Pack didn't let the Orange's physicality put it off its game.

"It's not the tactics when you play Syracuse," said head coach George Kiefer. "It's the 50-50s, the battling, the fighting, the togetherness. It's more the humanistic side of the game. I thought in terms of our approach, in terms of our human contribution to the match: excellent."

The red-and-white will complete its four-game homestand at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25 against the Radford Highlanders. The match will be closed to the public.

NC State freshman Drew Lovelace scored both of his team's goals in Tuesday night's non-conference matchup as the Wolfpack (6-5-4) defeated visiting Radford (4-9-2) by a 2-0 score at Dail Soccer Stadium.

NC State extended its point streak to five matches, the best such streak for the squad since its 2018 campaign. It was also the squad's sixth shutout of the year and the fifth tallied by goalkeeper Lucas Hatsios.

Lovelace notched the first goal of his Wolfpack career in the 35th minute to put his team on the board. He was assisted by fellow rookie Calem Tommy, who worked a ball up to the front left corner of the box before centering it to Lovelace who knocked in the left-footed strike from 12 yards out.

He then added to his night in the 60th minute and secured his brace with an easy tap-in off of passes from Junior Nare and Noe Cabezas.

The Wolfpack set the tone for its attack early, forcing Radford into a pair of saves on back-to-back Luke Hille shots that came less than four minutes into the outing. Those saves were the first of four that Radford was forced into during the first half as the Wolfpack got 10 shots off in the opening period of action.

In total, NC State ended up out-shooting Radford by a 15-4 tally. The Pack's formidable defense did not give the Highlanders space for a shot attempt until the 49th minute, and none of Radford's strikes were on target. The Wolfpack, meanwhile, hit a season high in shot attempts with 15 on the night and tied its season best for shots on target with seven.

NC State will hit the road for its regular-season finale at Clemson. The teams will square off at Historic Riggs Field on Friday, Oct. 28, with the match set for a 7 p.m. start on ACCNX
